I think two of the things that have helped me the most in the past - and that I should be focusing on myself right now (hmmmm.....) - are portion control and drinking enough water. The water really does flush your system. When I first started seriously dieting a couple years ago, I made sure to get in that 64 oz each day, and I lost 7 or 8 lbs the very first week!

You've certainly come to the right place! Body, mind and spirit and your HEALTH can be healed all with a lot of help from your fellow Sparkers! Only a keyboard away. Journalling is so helpful for me, posting notes, and making exercise and good food a priority. Make yourself a priority and ask questions and get buddies, all of it will help you find your path!
