First quarter almost through! How are we doing?

Did we adjust accordingly...without faltering too far off the mark?

I'm only as strong as the coffee I drink and the hair spray I use...

Hi everyone!

My goals for the first quarter are:

* lose weight. I'm not going to specify an amount and that tends to set me up for failure.
* keep up with my exercise programme. I feel better about myself when I exercise and I'm starting to enjoy the rush I get from exercising
* less takeaways. Takeaway/eating out only once a week
* plan menus and stick to them.

My first quarter goals:
*Lose 15 pounds by April 1.
*Eat less processed foods and journal everything.
*Do yoga at least 2x/week.
*Daily devotions time.
*Start running again (when treadmill situation is solved) and train for a 5k in the spring.
*Starbucks no more than 2x/week. I'm addicted. It's not that great for me, and it's way too expensive.
*Strength train 3x/week.

I feel great. Just spent the morning planning and cooking for the week.

I'm set.

Now off to workout and continue to take advantage of no distractions (my son's ad grandmas') and take down some of Christmas and clean this office!

Woo hoo!

My 1st Quarter Goals will be:

1) To start eating clean at least 90% of the time
2) Keep my daily sodium intake to around 1,000 mg
3) Go through the "Making the Cut" program to get my fitness back and on track and look my best!
4) Start training for half marathon

LINEINSAND, I always use my heart monitor to get my actual calorie burn, and I would manually enter my cardio exercise into Spark to reflect my true burn. I just figured out today that if you manually enter your exercises, it won't count for the SparkAmerica goals!

My plan -

- Limit sodium intake -- always keep it below the Sparkpeople recommendation (2400/day) -- No more store bought "tv dinners" for lunch - Ive equipped myself with 2 cup rubbermaid containers and will keep a supply filled and on hand. Im also taking a personal blender to the office so that I can make smoothies for part of my "6-meals" (thankfully we have a kitchen in the office suite).

- Make a concerted effort to track food and fitness accurately. This means not just using what Sparkpeople has in the food directory, but adding foods when they are not included. Same goes with fitness, except I am going to wear my heart monitor when I exercise so as to identify an accurate calorie burn. True numbers will mean accurate accountability for me.

- Continue my quest for optimum health. Work with Naturopath to overcome high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, high triglycerides, high cholestrol, and peri-menopausal issues. LOL, its so fun getting older!

- Investigate the stock market - There are a couple of companies that I would like to invest in and I have been putting this off because "Im not a math person" and really dont know where to begin! Its time to "just do it!"

Im writing my story in crayon ~ Oh, what a beautiful story it will be!

My first quarter goals are to clean up my eating and get stronger and faster.

I am upping the frequency of my strength training and the amount of exercise that I'm doing to increase my strength.

I will be running more intervals at a faster pace to accomplish the speed goal.

I can and will say no to cake, ice cream, and cookies, except at birthday parties.

Well on April the 5th I have to order my wedding dress so my first quarter of the year will be very focused on losing as many inches as humanly possible so I can buy a smaller wedding dress. I will be working out for an hour a day doing 4 days of weight training per week and have already written out what speed Ill be using the treadmill and even the incline so that I know when to really push it and which weeks I can do it a little easier.

Financially I want to have started saving heaps for my wedding. Ive decided to go get myself some new running shoes because mine are too big, they are old and they hurt and were very cheap. Id like a pair that will do me proud on the treadmill! Other than that every spare cent is going towards my wedding. Only 34 weeks to go so every cent counts. But in the first quarter I just need enough money to be able to buy my dress so about $1500 including veil.

I have one child Poppy born 27.11.2009

I'm a faster, but I am working out what works for me, if you're into fasting come and check out my sparkteam "Fasting for fat loss"

I believe we can each reach our 2008 goals if we break them down to acheivable and accountable time frames.

Now that you know what you want to do in 2008, how can you break it down and make it work the first quarter?

What's your strategy or plan?

Here's mine:

As far as reaching my number one goal of eating out less often, I'm already on my way. The problem of late is that I'm burning out from all this cooking and cleaning!

I think I need to step up and get organized in the kitchen. My quarterly goal here is:
- plan weekly meals- freeze back more, and cook more on Sunday. The day to day 'cooler' plan is making me tired of the kitchen. So, that's my goal- more cooking in less days, and I'm starting tomorow. Consistency is key. If I'm consistent for 3 months I reward myself and replace this goal.

As to number two (drinking less vino with meals)the annual goal is to cut it out by 50% per week from dinner. If I am consistent for 3 months I can stay the course for another 3- THEN and only THEN do I change this goal. Yes, indeedy I come from a European background where it's almost a sin NOT to have wine with dinner. Tough one for me!

Here's how:
- replace that magic 5 oclock hour with tea or home made vegetable/fruit juices
- Free my mind of the desire by awareness of emotions and keeping the vision(skinny!) alive in my mind. Alcohol burns differently than carbs, proteins and fats... (read the spark article) Add to that that I'm nearly 40 and it is messin' with my hormones :) Keep consequences in my mind. It's an obstacle to my fitness goal. Plain and simple.

Okay, on to number 3. For 2008 I will master finances- even get into stock trading by end of the year.

Here's how for quarter one:

- dig up the spreadsheet and moniter spending on a weekly basis
- stay on top of bill paying - no tardies, no exceptions.
- maintain a clean and organized home office.
- stay on top of deductions and medical reimbursments
I need the deductions and I want to ultimately work less and play more. By the six month mark I should be ready to move on.

Time to buckle down on 2008 goals. What's your plan for success in quarter one??? emoticon

Note, these are changeable goals and strategies. You are a work in progress. Just remember to stay the course! Consistency is key!
