He did write in the 20th century but is not known outside his home country for things written then. He was not published for the novels he is most famous for in the 20th century. 8. He did not write in French but has been translated in to French 9. No he was not Russian though his books have also I believe been translated into Russian 10. Yes he did live in the 21st century 11. and therefore he did not live in the 19th century at all 12. No he was not German
