I live Upstate South Carolina so the weather is really good; I am fortunate. I love to exercise outdoors, especially in nature. It takes my mind off to uncomfortable situation of moving since I am not used to it. So far I walk 10-15 min on my lunch hour; since I am just a beginner I just want to get into a routine. I also took my dog for a walk on Paris Mountain which was beautiful but only went about a mile. It's been raining here a lot so I was thinking about joining a gym even though it bores me. I can get monthly membership for $20. I am buying some small hand weights so I can do the 10 min videos here on SP and I am going to rent DVD's from the library.

I walk my apartment building-too cold to go outdoors. I also have an indoor exercycle that I use. I get downstairs to my apartment building's fitness center about 3 times per week that it isn't being used. I use the treadmills when they aren't bein used at that time.

Happy New year Everyone!!! I hope everyone is doing well!

I will be glad when Jan 3rd gets here-my first post-op visit with my surgeon and dietician in which they will advance my diet from full liquid to puree. YAY!

I love the idea of walking the dog in the house. It makes me laugh. It's so strange the difference in stamina and energy. I was walking with my dog two miles before surgery. I walk up the steps and I feel light headed and have to sit down. I nap everyday. I am not on painkillers anymore. I am 3 and a half weeks post op.

I struggle with low BP from the pain killers. Are you able to switch to Tylenol only? They took me off the self dispensed meds in the hospital because the BP was below 90/50.

I have found some help using a pillow to brace the incision sites, plus it helps to keep me focused on using my legs, not my stomach muscles. Do you have someone to walk in circles with in the house? I take my dog on the leash with me. I'm sure she thinks her owner is nuts, but cat thinks it is a game.

You two are doing great. I have been using the excuse of low energy. I am having an issue with my blood pressure. I got off the couch and walked four feet and the room started to go black. Blood pressure was 90/50. They had me cut my medication in half but I think it is still too much. I see the doctor on Jan 2.

Due to the crappy snow outside the past couple of days and today and still recovering from surgery I walk around my apartment building, use the treadmill in our fitness center in the building or use my indoor exercycle. The past 2 days I have been using my exercycle twice a day-15 minutes at a time. I will work up further next week.

emoticon made it to 20 minutes twice today, even did an incline of 2 for 5 minutes today
