I work for a non-profit that collects clothes and household item donations, and yesterday I called a gentleman on our list who stated that his wife is in the hospital and would I pray for her (my workplace is not a religious organization). He had a notable accent (Eastern European) and had to repeat her name 3 times before I understood that it is Alexa. It really struck me. We get the occasional God bless you or some such, but that is the first time someone asked that I pray. I told him I would, and I did when I got home and used my prayer book.
I have thought of that man all day, and was glad I could do something. I haven't been to church the past month, my excuse is Too Cold (and lazy). I am looking forward to going this week, this incident really made me think.
