Mom was so talented at getting us gifts for birthdays and Xmas it was hard for me to do as well with my children. Mostly Mom always got me dolls and I adored them.

Oriental looking jewelry box with a ballerina that went round and round when you opened the door. I still had it when my daughter was about 10, and I gave it to her. It was one of the things she took with her when we evacuated for hurricane Katrina.
We both finally outgrew it and used it for a 'white elephant' gift a few years ago.

My Dad actually hired a guy to come into our house late at night dressed as Santa and put presents under our tree. I will never forget my Dad shaking me gently awake and having us sneak down the hall to look. It was pure magic! When school went back in session, I was bragging to everyone that I saw him and he was REAL! Your Dad and my Dad would have got along great!

I don't remember a particular gift but do remember riding in the back seat of the car on C hristmas eve, on the way home from church and my Dad would have us look to the sky to see if we could spot Santa. He had some tiny bells in his pocket that he would jingle and us kids would swear that it was Santa.
Very nice memory.

Telescope with some ready-made slides & blank slides so I could make my own.

I had a doll with blue eyes that opened and closed but I was not allowed to play with it since it was very fancy. Then one day my baby brother climed on the sofa and took it down from display shelf and ruined it.

This precious little doll that my sister and I both wanted. My parents bought us each the doll that was on sale. We wouldn't play with them and my parents were devastated at their mistake. The day after Christmas, Mom took us to the store and we each got our very own "Betsy Wetsy" dolls! We were delighted! She was always my favorite doll!

I loved my baby doll Baby Sally, and she came with some clothes and a little buggy.
What a touching story. I am sosorry you lost your doll so tragically. Sometimes those hurts are never gone. I still mourn a fiber optic snowman decoration I had that was stolen. Every winter, I miss it.
My favorite gift was a GUND teddy bear I had wanted for years. I collected ALL the Gott Getta Gund advertisements in the magazines and had them plastered on my corkboard in my room. It was the Christmas of '86 I believe when my Mom got him for me. He is still in a place of honor on the back of my couch today. I named him Cinnamon for the color of his hair. Today no one remembers the Gund ads. LOL I still cherish him.

Growing up, what was your favorite Christmas gift, of all gifts? *********************************************************************** For me it was a 4 ft. tall "KISSY" doll. When you pressed her hands together, she'd pucker up and give you a kiss. I got it for Christmas the year I was 5 from my Mother and my Mother passed away a few months later. It was the last thing she gave me and I cherished it for many years. In a fit of temper, my sister threw it in a bon fire when I was 10.
