I stopped with a friend at a Mexican Restaurant the other day, just so we could catch up. I did have a glass of wine but as she was eating the corn tortilla chips and homemade salsa, I sat and watched her... It was tough not to grab a chip but I thought that the glass of wine was a cheat enough.

I almost called this thread "Managing SAD eating events" but I decided that sounded too negative! But that's how I think of them...."Standard American Diet" = sad.

When you decide to give up eating the standard American fare, you are suddenly kind of a loner, food-wise, at social events. How are you handling your Standard Am. Diet social events?

Lucky for me, now being 15 days into the Virgin Diet, I feel strong, un-craving, and un-interested in going off the Virgin Diet. This was not quite the case on Day 12, when I caved at an Xmas party and went off Virgin (got sickish, of course). But once I got back on the plan, I feel a new resolve never to let that happen again. I learned a valuable lesson from a vegan who attended the same party. She just ate what was in her plan and very resolutely let go the rest. She had been doing this for years, so there was no struggle.

I have always been very squishy on diet plans, but this time I really want to make it 3 weeks and then do the challenge and find out what foods are bothering me.

Any advice for managing social eating events?
