Try taking magnesium before bed. You will definitely "go" in the morning. I have been taking it regularly along with coQ10 to ward off headaches. A nice side effect is that I am very regular. JJVirgin talks about it in he book too and recommends up to 1000 mg a day, I think (better double check that). Magnesium is a very inexpensive supplement.

Dana~

Wish I had your secret for going "multiple times". I am at once every two days at best.

Maybe my intestinal track is still healing or maybe it's just my age. emoticon

I noticed this time I didn't get any 'period pimples'. Before I would get at least one or two just before I got my period, but this time I didn't get any.

I also noticed sinse mid last week (week 5 I think) , I think my intestinal track has begun to heal itself. Before I had days I didn't have bowel movements. Now I am going multiple times everyday. Never knew this was possible.

I, too, am loving this. I am on day 11. Probably the biggest thing I notice is that I have long stretches in the day where I am neither stuffed nor hungry. I never noticed this consciously before but I used to either feel over full, or hungry most of the day. I was eating an almost exclusively vegetarian diet, high in whole grains, beans and fruit and veg. What a change. My family can't believe I am eating meat after 20 years, but I am. The only cheat I have had is red wine. And that is only a little cheat I think for Cycle 1. I am truly not even tempted by anything else. Part of my lunch yesterday was especially delicious. I baked a sweet potato and cut it open while still warm and added a spoonful of tahini, then closed it up and packed it. By lunch time it was room temp and delicious. I at that with a salad with organic roast beef and a bit of leftover fish stew. A strange lunch but immensely satisfying.

Yup that's what I think. I am just not going to eat shrimp as often. With the weather I am having who knows.
I have just been so happy to wake up in the morning without being congested. This is with the allergy meds.
Today I just feel really tired. I am watching Biggest loser but I think I will go to bed early. Just tired.

I agree with Dana. It's hard to tell whether you are just detoxing or it's the shrimp. It's quite common to detox for weeks and that can feel like a food reaction, but it is just a healing reaction. So don't give up on shrimp yet. Also, the goal is to heal the leaky gut. Eventually, with luck you may be able to eat foods again that bother you now.

Blessings & Hugs,
--Maya

I recommend you try it once more and see if it happens again. It could be that or possible toxins being released. My hubby became flu like when we switched. Sometimes the body will act up to try and get you to feed those bad things. Its like someone addicted to drugs go through withdraw before the body returns to normal. You may be right though, it could be the shrimp

Yesterday I woke up all congested. This is not unusal for me. I take a decongestion at night along with Allegra. But I have not been stuffed up since I eliminated the 7.

On Friday night I had eaten some Boiled Shrimp. So like JJ said in the book. I have already noticed other foods that might be bothering me.

Just noticed something else. I am going to save a lot of money doing this plan. There's an initial outlay for shakes, chia seeds and the like, but once that is over, you can maintain pretty cheaply. I also think I'll eat out less as I am careful to avoid GF. I also think I will take my lunch more as simple foods now seem great for lunch (like just soup and salad...how hard is that to take) and I have more energy to make my lunch. Last but not least, I notice that food is now lasting me 3 times as long, maybe 4 times as long, because I eat less and don't constantly want to be snacking. Like I have a ton of food in my fridge...bought with my typical habits, but more food than I now need.

What I noticed today. I took a tip from one of you guys that posted about tumeric. I got back to taking my turmeric and bromelain pills (made by Natural Factors, 3 per day). I noticed a big improvement in the pain in my legs and ankles. It really is a pain killer.

What else I noticed: Excellent concentration and productivity at work today!

What else I noticed: the thought occurred to me that I am ready now to get back to the gym (haven't been there since last summer due to fatigue).

Hi Ladies,
I am loving this plan very much too! Like you, I feel a new sense of control which is worth a million bucks in my book! I love how I no longer "have" to have my nightly dark chocolate and wine! I love having those monkeys off my back! It's all some kind of weird food addiction caused by both carb metabolism and those antibody complexes she talks about that want you to eat the foods that are bothering your body!

I was low carb too and ate eggs every day. I am sure I am sensitive to them! I like this plan way better....I feel like I could eat this way forever! I have to thank the Primal Blueprint from weaning me away from bread and teaching me to love low-glycemic veggies. But I think he's got it wrong about eating eggs every day!

Are you guys as EXCITED as I am?! I just can't get over my glee that I have finally found something that curbs appetite, feels great, and is easy to do! I'm sure I am going to get so healthy and lose weight on this plan!

I just plain feel great overall and definitely in control. Absolutely no cravings and I used to need a chocolate fix every day LOL. Also noticed walking around the block is getting easier and putting on my socks is no longer a chore. Yesterday I bought some flaxseed and a coffee grinder and added the flaxseed to my Virgin Shake (yummy). Gave it a nice nutty flavor.

What a great forum! Yesterday was day 1. I already notice that my appetite is in control. Normally, I would eat my dinner, and then I would hunt for something "sweet". I am not a dessert person at all, but I think the added gluten was throwing me off. Yesterday was full of healthy and satisfying foods, I stuck to plan, and I wasn't craving my usual after dinner munchies. I would normally grab a handful of peanuts and then feel sick and bloated. My achy joints are feeling much better too. I think that was caused by eggs. I have been an avid low-carber for years and years, and I think my body is now rejecting eggs because I would eat them every day. I stopped the eggs over a week ago, and my joints are not achy. It was so bad that I couldn't even raise my arms more than shoulder height without saying "ouch'! I am loving this plan!

I had some bone aching today. I found myself stretching my muscles, which I don't usually bother to do, but which I thought was a good sign. I definitely am feeling tons more energy. Like when it was time to go home from work, I wasn't tired like I usually am. Usually I had to drag myself to the grocery store after work; today I had energy at the store and actually had fun hunting down things like chia seeds. I was definitely very upbeat to everyone at work. I am just SO excited about this plan. I'm totally loving it and feel like I could eat this way forever!

I am having no cravings either! I also feel calmer. Most of my severe cravings went away when I dropped gluten 3 mos. back. But I was still eating dark chocolate addictively. Since starting the Virgin diet I am not missing my nightly glass of wine and dark chocolate like I thought I would.

What I have noticed today on day 3 is lots of energy!

I am amazed at how I have no cravings! I have been eating a diet very similar to this one but as soon as I would add a slice of bread or a wrap it would just trigger me to over eat big time. Really sticking to NO sugar, soy, peanuts, eggs, gluten, corn or dairy has really enabled me to not cheat. I also have to really be sure I get 60 gms of protein in or I end up too tired to exercise and start feeling miserable. As far as the beans go - that is a mainstay of my diet and the gas gets better but never really goes completely away. Lucky for me DH is willing to eat what I am so he can't make fun of my gas cuz he is worse! : ) emoticon I used to be a Dunkin Donut large ice coffee drinker but now drink one small coffee and one decaf coffee. I am not crazy about drinking tea. Sal

I think one of the most important things you can do in any weight-loss or diet-improvement program is to pay attention! Listen to your body...what is it saying today?

For instance I'm on Day 2 of this program and my body said the lentils I ate yesterday gave me a tiny bit of gas. That was a negative and what I learn from that is either I didn't cook the lentils enough (probable), my body just isn't used to them (also probable), and my intestinal flora is off (so says my naturopath). Well heck, they were beans!

A good thing I noticed was a sudden craving for herbal tea INSTEAD of coffee! I'm usually a coffee drinker because my old diet made me feel so tired I used coffee to jack me up. I'm thinking I'm feeling better and having a more natural urge for a hot cup of herbal tea rather than jolting coffee! What do I learn from this? I'm feeling less tired and wanting to be kind and gentle with my body!

Use this space to notice what your body is saying to you today. Does it like this diet? Does it not like how you prepared a food? Are you having sugar withdrawal symptoms? Are you drinking enough water? Etc, etc. We can learn from each other and say, "Hey! I've got that too", or "I know what to do for that!"
