Good thought; I do hit the farmers market when in season.

It's definitely a good idea to start buying vegetables on your own. It's also worth considering shopping at a local store or farmer's market, rather than Sam's Club or other preferred shopping stores. I know that Walmart carries quite a bit of fruit and offers price matching. A Walmart may be a little closer to you than Sam's Club. emoticon

All of your points are good and profound ones. One of my good values is I hate to be a quitter and that keeps me on track even when I get off track momentarily. I like going to Sam's Club because they have vegetable and fruit trays made up of the very items you have mentioned. We just don't make it there as often as we should because of the travel time involved, but it would behoove me to make the extra effort to disregard the distance and just go when I'm getting low on produce.

My best way to get fruits and vegetables is to have my local grocery store's produce department make custom trays for me: a small vegetable tray with clean cut broccoli, cauliflour, baby cut carrots, and cherry tomatoes, and a large fruit tray with red seedless grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, and pineapple. That way, the fruit and veggies are easy for me to take right out of the refrigerator and eat raw, or prepare in other ways. I still don't eat as many fruits and veggies as I would like, but I eat a lot more than I would otherwise.

I love vegetables, but my wife doesn't and it's hard to get her to buy them. I guess I have to take ownership and go purchase my own. I do pretty well at passing up on what she cooks as long as I have some vegetables to roast on vegetable steamers on hand. When I don't have my vegetables I haven't the intestinal fortitude to say no to the spaghetti, lasagna, meat loaf, etc. It's very difficult when you don't have it in you to just say NO!

Thanks everyone. Planning my foods is something that I've actually been trying to work on. I also log everything that I eat as best as I can. I assume I eat more than I do so I don't fool myself. I don't really have any favorite food. Anything that tastes good will do! lol (well, not anything)

Don't put so much pressure on yourself. If it was easy then everyone would do it and no one would be struggling with their weight. Take some time to plan your meals. Every week I look in the sale papers and base my weeks meals on what's on sale. Once you start writing things down and planning them it makes it a little easier to comply. Last week I got some great fruits and veggies and mixed them up in different dishes. Or if your on the go, try a restaurant with a great salad bar or take fruit with you to work. If none of these sound do-able then check out SP articles, they have great ideas on how to incorporate healthy foods into your daily meals. Hang in their, change takes time.

For some it is hard to get into the swing of things but today is a new day and emoticon

Remember to log in all you eat so you can get a better look at what you are eating

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much

I started this challenge on the 4th of this month. However, I haven't been eating better at all. I haven't been eating any fruits or veggies until this past Sunday. Therefore, this is ANOTHER week 1 for me. I hope that I stick to it!
