Breakfast and lunch seem to be easier to follow a plan, I eat very smartly for those 2 meals.

NANA - - No, it won't always be that much of a weight loss further down the road but it WILL come off!! Keep up the good work!!! When the time comes that the scale seems to come to a stand still (and it will - - it happens to all of us), just remember to look back and how far you've already come - - how much weight you've already lost, how much more energy you seem to have, how much looser your clothes have become, and how much healthier you have become. REMEMBER: YOU ARE WORTH IT!!! emoticon You are doing emoticon

Today started out good. I am having a nice lunch of a sandwich, string cheese and green olives with lemon water. I went grocery shopping and walked the entire store for some exercise.

I was at the end of week 2 but did not feel like I was paying attention. I decided to start over and be in the moment. My goals are to eat within my calorie range and be consistant with my exercise. It seems my motivation has waned. I need to get sparked again.

KLASSY - - So glad you're going to start trying to eat a little something for breakfast. I think you'll see a big difference throughout the day. Your BSs are doing super great!! So glad for that. That is a lot of water!! I, too, have given up pop except for maybe 1 can a week now which is a big change for me!! Glad you're doing well. emoticon emoticon emoticon

JUDSTERF --- Thanks!! I am eating within my daily calorie count according to the nutrition guide here on SP..it is a diabetic plan. I drink 4-5 -- 44 oz cups of water a day. I've cut out nearly all soda...I do allow myself one 12oz can each weekend do I don't feel deprived. I eat lots of cheese and turkey...I love huge, super loaded veggie salads that always have one type of fruit in them. I also make regular meals using pork or turkey. I make sure to get in at least two snacks per day. My blood sugar levels have been in the 105-110 range lately which is a huge improvement from 6 months ago. So I know I am going in the right direction for that. I just simply do not feel hungry when I wake in the morning. But, I am going to try to start at least eating some of your suggestions. So, thanks again.

KLASSY813 - - - Are you eating enough? If you don't eat enough - at least the minimum calories suggested for you - your body will hang on to everything you eat and be in starvation mode, figuring it might not get anymore to eat. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Not only does it keep your blood sugars even but it also starts your metabolism for the day. Even if you only start out in the morning having a piece of fruit or a slice of toast or even cheese and crackers at least it's something. A glass of milk would be a good one to start with also because it will at least start out your day with some carbs, fat (unless it's skim milk) and some protein. Be sure to drink your water throughout the day as well. Set some small goals for yourself, something that you know you can succeed at such as a glass of milk in the morning and maybe add a graham cracker with it or eating breakfast once or twice a week to start. You have to eat to lose weight. Set your weight goal at only 10% of the total weight you want/need to lose. If you set that goal for the entire amount of weight to lose, you're very apt to get discouraged and quit. It's much easier to set that 10% goal as it something that is obtainable. When that scale seems to stop going down, look back at how much weight you've already lost, how much looser your clothes are fitting, how much more energy you have and how much better you're feeling. Read the other posts from other people - you are very apt to find something in those posts that might help you also. Take one day at a time and one step at a time.

Doing good. Planning a nice baked potato for a late lunch. I have trouble getting breakfast in...anyone else having this problem? All most every day I do not eat till around noon...I am just not feeling hungry in the mornings. That is when I usually do my house chores, while it is cooler.

Thanks for the encouragement. Today is Wedenesday, day 4, and still going well. I have replaced my daily lunch soda with Crystal light. Turns out the soda was more of a habit than a want or desire. Using the meal tracker to pre-plan my next day meals has really helped me to stay within my calorie range. Good luck to everyone on your journey. emoticon

Day 1 did really good with eating and drinking my water. Also 1st day without a diet soda. I had cut down to just 1 a day but decided that 1 needed to go as well. Pretty proud of myself today. 6 veggie servings and 2 fruits. Feelin' good.

Good luck on that toe EOCMom. I have on occasion done the same thing. How did you do it?
Still big on those veggies in my omelet. Makes it so much easier to get my 5 veggies during the day when I eat the majority of them in my breakfast.

Stayed within my calorie range yesterday. Had lots of fruit and veggies also. Fiber content was great. Walked the puppies in the morning but didn't make the walk in the evening or before bedtime due to my left foot being swollen and painful. So, I took the rest of the time off to elevate and ice my foot.

Made it to just under the halfway point of my calorie range yesterday but drank a coke to help me do it. Been thinking that if adding some beans today doesnt work then I may need to add a touch of salad dressing back to my salads so I don't have to drink such bad things just to gain calories. Currently I am eating about an ounce of avocado smushed around in the salad as a dressing and I love it :) However I did reach my fiber goals even though I still didn't reach the protein goals. But I'm not worried about that very much after my experiences in the Marine Corps.

I need to work on my snacks a lot more. I'm the type of person that will stand there needing a snack (healthy) and not have one ready so I either don't eat it or I grab the fastest, easiest thing to have (not so healthy). I have found, in the past, the more I have quickly available, the better I am. So I have some chili that I made for the fiber content in little 1/2 cup containers so it's already portioned out. I have tropical trail mix that is portioned out in snack bags (tiny ziplocks) that make a snack easy and healthy and I have protein mix for a quick protein snack.

So why do I not just reach for those when I do the snacks? I think it is retraining my brain and I'm not there. So that's what I'm working on.

week 1 day 1: I chopped up a bunch fruit and veggies and made snack bags. my thoughts are that when i go into the fridge or pantry to snack/eat i will see the easiest choices are now healthy instead of the junky food items. I just noticed that all the junk food comes in easy to access ready to grab packaging! Way too tricky!! i also have a 24 oz cup, plastic with lid & straw to fill up of water, to fill up with water. I am aiming for 1/2 my weight, in oz, of water.
lets go i am armed and ready....I hope!

wk 1, day 7. Glad I signed up, here. I am allergic to most raw fruits and veggies - added carrots to the dner list after last night's reaction. So -- my thinking has changed from don't eat veggies, to cook all veggies. Fruits seem to need longer cooking time than the veggies, so I'll eat unsweetened applesauce but not apples. Looking forward to week 2!

Wk 1, day 6. Found a recipe that combined rice pilaf with mashed pumpkin, with a sprinkle of romano cheese. It was different, and tasty. Then I burnt my roasted veggies, and that, too was different, but not so tasty. Tonight I will steam my veggies, and sprinkle them with summer savory.

Wk 1, day 4. I'm in a rut. I've developed a taste for roasted veggies, and have been eating them that way for a few weeks, using different combinations. I've this "been there, done that" feeling. I've run out of combinations.

Took today off from dieting but still stayed under my upper calorie limit. Really enjoyed my hamburger and corn on the cob. Did get in my five veggies and drank plenty of water.

BEBARB, I always count dried beans as starch (carb), potatoes too. Sweet potatoes I would probably count as a vegetable. Not sure if that is strictly correct or not. I'll have to think about it.

Yesterday and today I wasn't very hungry, again. I kind of like that. Did my veggies and had to work a bit to reach my lower calorie limit. Diancy, why wouldn't baked beans and potato salad be veggies? I'm counting black beans and sweet potatoes in my 5 servings. Hope that's not wrong.

Free food at work day. Chicken box lunch for nurses week. Imma thinkin' potato salad and baked beans aren't really vegetables. Not to a point where I can pass up free food yet. I had to really work to get those vegetables in at home. I did it!! Went over my calorie total though. emoticon

Eating smartly for a Friday. I used to historically eat so much more starting the weekend. I was glad the weekend was starting. I am not taking it out on myself, by eating smarter.

I need a buffer of food when I take my meds with the breakfast meal. I cook up some broccoli tops, olives, and red bell peppers. Add the eggs, bacon bits, and some dry curb cheese. Other then needing some carbs, I am pretty much set till lunch.

I've done really well with getting more veggies and fresh fruit in. I only hit 5 veggies on 1 of the last 4 days, but I've gotten in 1-2 fruits most days as well. Overall I'm doing better than before, and any progress is good. Before I know it, I'll be getting in 4-5 veggies and 1-2 fruits everyday!

Starting day 5 since starting SP, and I'm actually looking forward to weighing in on Saturday.

Thanks stepup!!

BEBARB - I havent felt that way in a long time lol but before I know what you mean, there were a few times when I was into my fitness and eating healthy where I still had a bunch of calories leftover and I'd be like, but I dont know what more to eat! Im not hungry! lol

Ok so I had to redo my weight loss goal and stuff. I felt like the calorie intake i was supposed to be taking in each day was low but I figured it seemed low to me since I am restarting my healthy lifestyle. But the past few days Ive gone over my calories, not by a whole lot but still went over, but I would still feel super hungry by the end of the day. So I checked my weight loss goal, which is about 20 pounds, my start date and end date and realized, at least for me, August 1st is an unrealistic end date. So I did the math, I figured if I lose at least 4 pounds a month Im a happy camper, so I changed the end date to November 10th, my bday! And the calorie intake changed, NOW I feel like I have enough calories to eat for the day that will be comfortable/good for me. Yay!

Hope you all are doing well! First week is officially over for me tomorrow and so I am excited that I actually stuck through and tracked my food and stayed motivated! Week 2 here I come!

Goodnight sparkers!

For some reason I haven't been hungry today so I'm actually having a hard time get enough calories. That's a change of pace.

Thats awesome! Keep it up because it will eventually get easier as your body adjusts. And drink water, sometimes when you feel hungry you are actually thirsty - or at least thats what i have been told. emoticon

I you have been working out a lot and burning a lot of calories you definitely need to eat more. :)

Ok I did much better today! I still went over but by only 6 calories! lol I ate dinner but I was still hungry so I made a cup of tea, with honey and a LITTLE bit of milk and a string cheese. Thats what put me over but I am not upset. Everything I ate today was super healthy and really yummy and slowly but surely I am getting closer to staying within my calorie range.

I had an ok breakfast, didnt have time to make eggs with veggies like usual, but still breakfast wasnt bad. My lunch was healthy, I had my snacks throughout the day that were also healtyh, even dinner was healthy! But I still went over my calories for the day. Not by much, only about 250, but still I thought I had done good. But like I keep telling myself baby steps! I can do this! I mean I am definitely eating a lot less calories then I was before but I am still surprised that I went over. Well tomorrow is another day! I have my lunch packed already, I made salmon with a broccoli, mushroom, garlic, and rosemary recipe that I got off of spark. Tomorrow morning I am just gonna quickly cook up some carrots to go with it. I am hoping I have enough time to get in a yummy filling breakfast. I already know what my snacks are gonna be! Even though I have gone over I am not gonna let that get to me. I just have to continue to track and figure out what I am doing thats making me go over!

Mondays are my day off, which usually translates to my snacking day... I had a really hard day, were I felt hungry all day. This has been part of my problem all along - that i keep eating and just never seem to be full. Thankfully I had a lot of fruit and stayed healthy and in range all day. I even was able to have a piece of cake for dessert! Still I went way over my carbs and under on my protein which the tracker says could cause me to feel hungry faster and also cause energy problems - which sounds very right. So tomorrow I am going to try for more protein!

I didn't plan very well and had to leave for work before I had my lunch packed. I work at a hospital and it is nurses week and there was all kinds of food around. Two chocolate chip cookies and a big bagel were my lunch. Good thing I started with low fat and low carb. I ended with stir fry and small piece of chicken. 78% of my calories were at lunch (no surprise there) It all evened out. I stayed below my calorie limit and was only over on salt just a little. Yeah for me!

Surprised myself. Today was my day off from dieting and I had a hot Italian sausage sandwich for lunch and an Arby's roast beef for supper, and even had one mozzarella stick and stayed under my 1550 calorie limit.

I think ive been doing pretty good with tracking so far. Ive been trying to track everything, even the stuff I know I shouldnt be eating. I usually do good during the day but then dinner is what is putting me over. I am hoping starting monday I will stay within my calorie range for breakfast, lunch AND dinner! But all in all, I think I am doing ok.

I have had those days were you almost track everything. Sometimes the snacks don't get logged or the calories which would put you over your goals for the day. Good thing is that you are tracking. Its tough to be honest on everything you put in your mouth.

Only beginning, but I'm already making a salad. There's lots of potato and salmon, so it's more like a regular meal than a salad, but there will also be asparagus, rucola, red onion and seeds.

I'm having some friends over for dinner, so I really hope they will like it, too.

Didn't get dinner tracked yesterday and had a few items un-tracked today so I was probably at the top end of my calorie range. I just remembered what I had for dinner Friday so will go add that in a few minutes. Got three servings of fruit in today and 1 veggie if tomato soup counts (lol). Put in an extra day at work so I had plenty of walking in today. I am off tomorrow so I am going to try to get in all 5 servings of fruit and veggies.

So far this 1st week, my average calorie range is right in where it should be. My activity has been regular but I am still in need of getting some strength training in. However, I've decided to cut myself some slack & concentrate on calories & regular movement for the 1st couple of weeks - then add in other things.

Stayed within middle of my calorie range yesterday with lots of veggies and fruit. I think that makes 5 days in a row. I'm usually good at staying within my range even when I'm hungry.

four days on goal...track food, exercise daily, and drink 8 glasses of water. One day I was over on calorie count by 400, but that was a special dinner out. I count that as on goal too.
