I want to learn how to choose healthier foods with the correct amount of nutrients. I have been using the nutrition tracker, but tend to be over in some things and under in others. I keep experimenting with different foods and amounts to get closer to what I need to be healthy.

Just going to focus on what worked before--already have my calorie range set in my tracker. Discipline of recording intake is my first step . . . back to my daily exercise is also key for me.

My goal is to eat a maximum of 1600 calories a day and to burn off 1200 calories total in the first week to find out what my range should be.I will discover my calorie range to lose weight. I will track my food and eat in that range. It might take a week of tracking to find out what it is now. I have lost 48 pounds this year since February, so it has likely changed.

I always eat mini meals. I have my breakfast in 2 meals every 3 hours. My lunch is 2 meals every 3 hours. I have a full supper and a 100 calorie snack 3 hours after supper. So my eating plan is to have something every 3 hours.

I expect to have no trouble with my first weeks goal! emoticon emoticon

My one mini goal is just to break 160 and hit 159. Tired of hearing muscle ways more than fat, blah blah - I am working on my attitude toward the scale but really just want to see it go down just six pounds by November 15th

My first goal is to eat at least 5 servings of fruits/vegetables daily.

My second goal is to find my daily calorie "sweet spot". I just joined a week ago and plan to eat at the high end of my recommended range unless I see that I am not losing any weight.

I eat 3 fruits a day. Vegetables I eat a hot veggie at dinnertime and raw veggies at lunch.
So I am eating lots of F+V daily.
I drink 8 water a day.
I eat whole grains daily and 2 skim milk, and one greek yogurt each day.

Still looking for what kind of healthy snack I can eat after dinner. Popcorn usually 3x a week
and need other ideas.
I am slowly eliminating sugar and sodium snacks but still have a problem with this.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Goals

1) 5 a day (fruits/veggies)

2) Mini meals at 200-250 calories per meal. I have found that this works best for me and keeps me from reaching for the sugar/carbs. I have to consciously pick my meals this way to stay within the calorie range

I don't want to add to much to this goal yet. I want to be consistent with these before adding anything else.

Week 1 goals:
track every day
stay within range
3+2 meals a day
make meals bulkier by adding seasonal veg (tomtoes and cucumbers now)
when sweet craving hits and 10g of nuts and raisins just don't cut it, one square of dark choc
Water and herbal tea (no sugar)

The only real challenge here is to stay within range :S I am usually really good till the afternoon and it goes downhill for me in the evening :(

My calorie range is 1200-1350 daily. I also track my food and excerise which helps a lot. I eat a lot of raw vegetables and fruit.I9 have set a mini goal for myself and that is to loose 20-30 pounds this month. For each pound I loose I put $1.00 in a jar, but if for each pound I might gain I subtract $1,00.

Yay only 30 days til spring

My range is 1200 to 1500 cals, and journaling it in the spark app all week beginning SUN-SAT.
Mini meals are at 10 and 4, consisting of 1/2 of a bar, a piece of fruit, cup of tea and 5 ritz/1oz cheese, or a piece of toast with butter. (all ranging to be 100-200 cals). Regular meals are no problem unless I am eating out, and they consist of pretty healthy foods. My biggest challenge is wanting to eat after I eat, esp. supper. So getting a cup of tea or diet coke is my plan there. So , here I go, with week one. If you are new, like me, remember, this is a process, with ups and downs, and learning how to handle both. Emotions challenge women, so lets be happy and thankful for support and many other blessings. Jo Lynn

Maybe your lunch meal is too large if you are not hungry at break time. Perhaps you could divide lunch into 2 portions and eat the larger portion at lunch and the other at break?

I joined this team a long time ago. I have been trying to lose weight and I am struggling. I start out good. I do good for breakfast, and lunch, I mess up at dinner. Sometimes I mess up after work before I cook dinner. At work I eat lunch and than at break I am to full to eat my fruit but than I come home and eat something sweet. I really do want to lose weight. I just don't know what to do.

I love vegetables, and would love to go away from the "meat, potatoes, and vege's" concept to a meal. I like the unusual dishes from the ordinary, plain ones. I want meals high on the vegetables, with different forms of protein (such as fish and nuts), and high on fiber. I'll get there, but it will take a lot of careful planning on my part.

Welcome!

Looks like I tried (and failed this in April). I'm back now and have a 2 week clean eating challenge under my belt and am now doing another round. So, I guess I would be in week 2 of tracking veg. I know my calorie needs, have meals plus two snacks on the menu I'm doing. Let's do this thing!

I went vegan back in March. Had a couple of hiccups here and there. But I've lost 59# since mid-October 2014. Been stuck at the same weight for the past 2 months! My goals for this challenge are to be more conscious of what I'm putting into my body. Less processed foods! No more cookie monster. I need to work on upping my veggie intake. I'm good with the fruits. :) I hope to lose at least 4# for the month of August, but I won't beat myself up if I don't. Last month, I met my goal of 5 miles/day 14 out of 31 days. Need to start incorporating strength training into my life. Blaaaah. LOL! Anybody got any tips? I want it to be fun and not have it feel like a workout. Best of luck to everyone!

I need to start measuring my portions more consistently. I need to work on not eating late at night. I need to either stop having snacks or limit my snacks to fruits or vegetables instead of junk.

my first goal is to get below the 280 Mark

--- I haven't been down there in years --- I get close and then start back up the scale.

I'm pretty consistent about tracking food & getting 5+ fruit & veggie servings daily, but I'm terrible about skipping meals then getting too hungry & going over calorie range. It happens at least twice a week. I'm still losing, but I'd love to get more consistent at eating regularly so I don't get too hungry, low energy or blow it.

Eat more veggies. Incorporate snacks at even intervals. Stay within range. emoticon emoticon

I want to stay within my calorie range and learn to eat in moderation. I don't want to completely eliminate anything. I want to eat more veggies, fruits aren't a problem, I love them.

My goal is to lose at least a pound a week and not feel tired all the time. I want to have my old energy back and be able to do things on my own again. Due to heart problems, my exercise is limited and so what I eat has to be my mail goal.

I have been tracking food and nutrition very well. But I find myself falling back into non healthy foods and sometimes a sweet binge, teetering over my 1500 calories. So my goal is to eat fruit instead of a sweet or salty unhealthy snack. My fruits and vegetables have been restricted to mostly salads or maybe a piece of fruit.

Goal: 3 fruits, preferably replacing sweet/salty urge
Goal: ID stressful urge, and replace with prayer, writing, hot bath or drawing.
Goal: 1 fruit smoothie this week

Hope I can bypass 10:00 p.m. snacks. My breakfast is too light and lunch is late afternoon. No accounting for this ridiculous regimen. Both husband and I are retired and I am cookbook junkie. I think I get full looking at delicious pictures of prepared meals.

By evening, we are not starving, my husband is a snacker, but not overweight.

So my goal is to be more consistent with three balanced meals and hide his kettle chips.

I hit a plateau the last couple of week and my chiropractor said something to me that I found very encouraging. He said that although you don't see loss on the scale you can see it in your body by how your clothes fit and in measuring parts of your body. It reminded me that muscle weighs more than fat...so don't get discouraged, just keep on working your program and know that what you are doing will pay off in the long run. Have a great week!

My goal is to stop skipping meals. I am a big one for not eating breakfast in the morning or not eating lunch. I am getting better at it but I still find myself at 6pm realizing I did not eat any meals that day until dinner. I'm hoping this will help me do that.

I just signed up for this challenge tonight but I had already started on Monday to make some new goals and plans for the next 30 days. I had my follow up dr. appt. with an endocrinologist to learn I am to start on a thyroid medication. I asked him advice which was good & bad. He wanted me to not drink so much water (I try to do 8-10 cups a day & more if I do a lot of cardio or yardwork). Not sure if that's a good one since my main fluid I drink is WATER. I sip throughout the day and limit myself to 2 cups of coffee a day. He did say I should aim for 2000 calories burned by exercise a week. So, I thought this was a doable goal for myself.

I have completed the Meta Small Changes Challenge then I just finished the Vionic's Walkabout Challenge. These kept me accountable, motivated, tracking, and moving forward where I feel I've been blundering. Since I don't seem to have a problem with exercise and see improvements in my fitness level the reason the scale doesn't move has got to be with my eating options. Time to educate and put it in action.

This week's goal for me is to achieve burning those 2000 or more calories, eating within range (which I reset my weight loss goal to a small realistic one to aim for ) and learn where I need to be in calories and choices to feel full and have the energy needed to move with fun & purpose and possible see the scale moving downward or inches/clothes feeling loose.

I will learn how to better measure, judge and do portions control to stay in range by the end of this chalenge. I will learn how to incorporate healthier food choices, utilize some great recipes and plan ahead snacks. If I choose to eat a "treat" it has to be in portion control and not an every day or week occurence. I hope to learn a great deal from others who have learned to eat up and still slim down. emoticon emoticon

My goal is to eat a greater variety of vegetables consistently. I eat lots of fruit, but seem to get in a rut when it comes to vegetables, eating the same ones over and over. To do this I need to plan ahead as I live 30 minutes from a grocery store and need to stock up with a weeks worth at a time. When summer gets here it will be easier as I grow a lot of vegetables.

Wise choices each day will get me where I want to be.
