Day 22 - Didn't realize it is already 22 days without sugar. I haven't even noticed - um - except that my stomach is nearly flat and the muffin top is down 2 inches. Oh - ad I dropped another pants size.
I haven't been able to work out the past week due to a back injury - so even the bike was difficult. But I made up for it with being active constantly. NO sitting down unless it was to eat and that really worked. I haven't weighed in this week yet - but the pants size is huge. Wait - I mean, smaller!
Thanks VP. When do we start 30DS?

It was hard, really hard, at first. The thing was to get out of the habit of ordering the combos! Soon after the fries were gone I figured I don't need the soda either! Kicked the soda habit too!

Day 7:
Mood: Good Phyical: Tires and achy - rough Energy Level: Low but will increase
I missed a few days with a sick husband that needed tending to. The upside was that I was so busy I never even thought of overeating or looing at carbs/sugar. Physically, I'm seeing my tummy debloat and that is a good sign. Weighin is tomorrow - hoping for a pound at least.

Those sugars sure can be sneaky, but you are strong and doing well, even with the health challenge you just had.
You can do it, 1 choice at time!

Day 3 Mood: Very positive - feeling really good Energy and Physical: Low - think I'm recatching my cold and have a terrible stomach ache Cravings: None
What I find most interesting is that while my cravings for sweets are gone - that sneaky sugar is making me want breads. Carbs are pure sugar so it is clearly telling me what my weakness is not sweets - its carbs and bread. That is huge for me. Learning what I need to focus on is what has made this challenge the best I've tried. Thank you VP.
I also came up a mantra when I want to eat what I shouldn't or overeat: Joe deserves a healthy wife.
It is really helping me.

Still Sugar free me! Getting the hang of it to make meals and snacks for the whole family. Although I'm not using any sugars I replaced DD sugary cereal with oatmeal topped with raisins and real maple syrup and she ate it up! Yay!

Hello! I may be a little late in starting this challenge - but I'm all in. No added sugar. Husband has said he's with me but I'll break him into this one slowly as he really likes his sweets.
Today is day 1. I actually woke up with a headache so perhaps I won't notice day 1 issues.
One thing I know from having done this before - my stomach will be flat and unbloated by the end of week 1. And that is way cool with me.
Yea!

VP,
I'm glad you're feeling better since giving sugar the boot. I imagine it's easier to lose weight. (obviously avoiding the cupcake bush helps alot! LOL) It's amazing where there is sugar that you didn't expect.
Keep up the good work all of you doing this challenge!

The withdrawal symptoms sound the same as when I gave up coffee and soda. The headaches were dibilitating, but I knew they'd eventually stop. Keep it up ladies.

Mood: Tired, Motivated Energy: Pretty tired today, sleep has been a problem this past week Cravings : Intense
Body has been craving sugar all day, I've tried fruit but hasn't helped much today. I know that each day that passes the less the cravings will be. Day one is done, bring on day two!

Day 2:
Mood: mood swings, irritated, motivated, optimistic Energy: Felt more awake, Headache, nausea in the morning, sweating at times Cravings : Medium but controllable
Today was a little more of a challenge. I have had a headache all day but I have been able to medicate it away. Found myself thinking about dessert alternatives all day which all included some sort of sugar in many different forms. The things I did eat today were very tasty and I really like eating clean and unrefined things. The recipies I have found all have been pretty easy to make and fill me up. DH is having similar symptoms of withdrawal but is hanging in there!

Count me in, VP. I will be making one small change in the challenge for my personal kicking of sugar's butt. I allow myself one coffee in the mornings and I sweeten it with a little bit of stevia ( I kind of look at stevia the same as fruit as it is plant and doesn't have the same glycemic results that sugars do), but other than that there will be no sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Day 1:
Mood: Happy, Motivated Energy: Felt more awake all day, less lethargic Cravings : Minimal
Today was a good day. I cooked all day and stayed sugar free and within all goals. Felt a little bit of sugar cravings after dinner but I had a cup of frozen mixed fruit and that took the edge off. Felt good overall and ready for day number 2!

VP - looking forward to seeing your progress! I want to do this but don't feel strong enough yet to give it all up. Soda was my first successful challenge. Perhaps I'll add one or two more things to it and work my way up. At any rate, looking forward to following your progress.

I have decided that I am cutting out all refined sugars from my diet as of Saturday December 29,2012.(See my blog)
I am going to be posting in this thread challenge my results everyday to keep tabs on my progress. I hope to stay strong and eliminate the sugary death that's killing me.
If anyone wants to join in at anytime and feel free to set your own goals and become sugar free please do :o)
It as easy as replying here, Please post what day you are on (Day 1 etc.) and you result for the day. Let go break up with sugar together! _________________________________________
My first goal point is 30 days sugar free! Then I will reward myself with some perfume I have been lusting after :o)
_________________________________________
Some Guidelines:
Foods that have added sugar of any kind are not allowed No added natural sugars (honey, molasses, stevia, etc.) No added refined sugars (sugar, corn syrup, brown sugar) No added artificial sweeteners (Truvia, Splenda, Nutrasweet) Basically, if it has added sugar or sweeteners, of any kind do not eat it. This includes any and all artificial sweeteners, which are not considered part of a healthy,
Note: Again,No sugar, means no added sugar. There will be naturally occurring sugars in milk and yogurt as well as in fruit, that’s okay. The idea is to give up ADDED sugars that are in most all processed foods. So when you read a nutrition label, look at the actual list of ingredients, NOT the percentage of sugar per serving (unless you must do so for medical reasons).
