2014

This is the roster of members who finished a transcontinental virtual trip across the United States from Yorktown, Virginia to Florence, Oregon.

The accomplishment reinforced a healthy lifestyle. They helped support the team each time mileage was entered, and progress was shared.

CAROLINANAN117
Nancy finished on February 3. She started on January 1, 2012.
Nancy says:
My advice would be to never give up. Small steps add up to great distances.

LINDAKAY228
Linda finished on February 9. She started on January 23, 2012. This is her second trip completion.
Linda says:
So it took me a little over 2 years to get it all done. The first time it took me a little over 2 years also. Not bad with time out for a stroke. I was making good time on the second trip through but then Halloween 2013, I had a stroke with a brain bleed and was in the hospital for 5 weeks and in rehab and on a walker until New Year's Day when I got rid or it for good. The last several weeks have been slower but I made it!!!! Yeah! Never give up!

LESLIELENORE
Chandra began her second trip on the road in February 2013 and crossed the finish line at the end of March. She immediately went back out starting on her third trip on the interstate.

THINAGIN2
Lee officially started the 3rd trip on the interstate on10/24/2012 and ended on 4/18/2014, starting the same day on a 4th trip.
Lee says:
I have just made this a part of my day and although I don't always get a lot of miles, I keep track of them and post them. I enjoy seeing the new places along the way!

RAYLINSTEPHENS
Linda completed the cross-country trip on 6/10/2014. Her start date was 2-26-11 but she had no internet for 2 years so she wasn't logging any steps for 2 years and she started back in when she got home internet again. So she unofficially made the start date the date of her first entry. She said that she had lost her login and had no idea how to get it back so she just had to rejoin in 2011. "But rejoin I did! WooHoo!!!"

WALKINGGRANDMA
WG finished her interstate trip in the beginning of September. She started walking across the country in August of 2013. This is the sixth complete crossing for WalkingGrandma
(plus one incomplete logging that she counted as only half).

WG said:
I enjoy walking every time. I started over the next day as I don't like to "waste steps."

I wear my pedometer all day and have a job that requires a lot of steps. I'm grateful because the knees are getting pretty old and this does help me stay moving. I interpret the 10,000 steps a day to be total steps that we are expected to move. I'm sure that if we walked 5 miles each day in addition to our activity as John Adams (our president) encouraged, we would be much healthier but there are many days we cannot take that time to enjoy a walk.

I'm in Virginia again and enjoying the beautiful scenery and thinking of my visit there. I am back in Virginia but love it there so it doesn't matter that it is a long walk. Love passing through.

SNOWFILLY
Snowfilly started back out on the interstate the day after completing a two year trip.
Started - 10/1/2012
Finished - 10/1/2014

DONNABRIGHT
DonnaBright started 05/25/13 and ended 10/19/14. The day after crossing the finish line, Donna went back out starting on another trip on the interstate.
Donna said:
The virtual walk is an awesome trip. I loved the pictures as I walked and biked my journey and this morning I started all over again! Hopefully, I'll see different areas as I complete this crossing.
