A great book I recently read is "Following Atticus". It's about the lessons a man learns as he follows a miniature schnauzer on their journey to hike all 48 4,000-foot peaks of the New Hampshire White Mountains.

I lent A Big Little Life to my supervisor at work, and she really loved it--she told me "I used FOUR TISSUES at the end of the book thank you very much!!". So the next day I brought in the books that Trixie "wrote"-she loved them, too.

Loved this book (A Big Little Life)! I heard about it before it even came out. I had to have it immediately. I tell every dog lover I know to read this book. So touching!

Trixie also has her own website and still "writes" newsletters.

several do have dogs and usually its a golden. I didn't know that Trixie had more than one book, the digital downloads available only had the one book, so I will be watching for the others as well. Also, another little dean koontz factoid, in many books he has quotes at the beginning of each chapter, and many times the quote is from the book of counted sorrows, there is no such book, they are his quotes, and last I read, he is writing them all up, so in the future there will be a book of counted sorrows! I thought that was so funny!

Koontz' book Watchers got me wanting a golden retriever, even though I KNEW it wouldn't read or do math equations.
Trixie Koontz has written 3 books, I think (one posthumously). I have them all, plus I got the memoir about Trixie the other day. That dog just reminds me so much of my Lily--happy all the time.
I think all of Dean Koontz' books have a dog (usually a golden) at least mentioned in them...I'm a fan!

I'll be on the lookout for that one. There is also one written from Trixie's point of view. I can't exactly remember the title, but the author of the book is Trixie Koontz.

I think Koontz's book "Watchers" also involves a dog who communicates with humans when the put alphabet cards on the ground...the dog spells stuff out for them. In fact I think I'll re-read it again after Darkest Evening of the Year.

The darkest evening is an AWESOME book!!!!! I read it a little bit ago, and it was riveting as usual. I saw an article in the paper about the one dedicated to Trixie. It sounds like an awesome book, and I gotta get it. Heather

I had no idea that he writes anything but the 'creepy' stuff. Sounds like this could be a good read. Thanks for letting us know about it!

Another interesting one I'm reading now is The Darkest Evening of the Year by Koontz. I think that was an inspiration based on his dog Trixie who passed away. He's a real dog lover.

I have never read any Koontz novels either due to
subject matter. However, this sounds like a MUST
READ, also.

Koontz writes in several genres and this one was definitely from his heart.

I think he does right books that are creepy...have never read one tho. Then I saw this book cover (A big yellow dog licking his cheek) and I can never resist a book with a dog on it. It is a true story so not at all his usual. Trixie had been a survice dog who had surgery and had to be retired.
