My dog is always such a little emotional rock for me. She always knows when I am upset and will come to my rescue. She has no problem with me crying into her fur. And will wipe my tears off with her little pink tongue.

They sure sound like sweet little charmers! Animals are very smart and understanding. I'm glad you have such sweet dears to comfort you and be there for you. They seem to understand what is best needed and behave in that manner. It's good they know not to touch you and still find a way to give you comfort by simply being there with you. I hope Brownie gets through this and has a speedy recovery. And that the whole gangs back together helping you out. Best of luck! Best in life!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I totally agree that they know when your hurt or don't feel good. I''ll be having a really bad flare and all 5 of them come in my room and get up on the bed and take naps with me, And they know not to touch me. It's amazing how sensitive they are. emoticon emoticon

That is a horrible thing to be going through. I know it is comforting though that your sweet baby has a comforting mom like you watching over him. And you understand what he is going through. Sometimes we feel worse and worry worse than our fur babies. He might also be whining in part because he worries about you and wants to comfort you. They are so cute and silly that way. Even though they are in pain or upset they worry more about us and our upset. Brownie is so fortunate to have a caring person like you to take care of him and tend to him. Just do what you do best. Talk to him. Pet him gently. And be there. That's what he needs most right now. And you are doing a great job at it. It can be hard trying to be there for a loved one and it's perfectly wonderful that you reach out to others. We all need someone. I wish you the best. And a quick recovery for your precious Brownie and good health to you all.

Hello, my name is Mindy. We have 5 Chihauhau's ranging from 12 yrs to 1 year. Our oldest is Brownie, My husband gave me him when he was 1 year old for Christmas. He is daddy's little boy. Always has been. I am disabled and so is my husband. I am worse than him but we do have different things wrong with us. I am in bed 24 hours a day and can't bend. My husband has a disease that I can't remember the name of. But he has no muscles in his legs and his feet are very painful. Well 3 days ago I had just come home from the VA hospital and my H was working in the garage. I heard the dogs barking and it was a weird bark from all of them. I got up and grabbed my cane and went out to see that Brownie had his back legs straight out and he started sliding towards me. Of course I started screaming for my H and somehow I was able to pick him up (Thank you God) and he could not stand up. his feet just slipped and he would fall on his behind. We went to our vets and they were closed so we ended up going to the emergency clinic. They took him back and about 45 minutes later the doctor came in the room. She said that he has a slipped disc. Of course I know how that feels since I have had 4 do that. So he stayed all night and we picked him up yesterday and it's so sad. He has to be in a cage for 4 weeks so he can't do anymore damage. He crys and whines and we both feel horrible. He has never been in a cage. My H hates them so none of our dogs have been in a cage.

I am so sorry for going on and on. But I don't have anyone to talk to and I have to talk about or I will just stress out and make my pain even worse.

I would appreciate prayers, get well fast, anything you are comfortable with. Thanks and I'm so grateful for all of you. Mindy emoticon emoticon emoticon

My dog is undergoing her treatments and is doing good so far. Unfortunately my sister who posted not so long ago on here, Anonono is gone. She passed away on April 29th. I am on my own and know that what I do in life is mine. Nothing can help me but myself. Sis would be happy to know that Darling is doing fine so far. If not I suppose she will take Darling with her and wait for me.

I could use some good juju or wishes for my dog Darling. She is turning eight on the tenth of this month. I've had her since she was a puppy and she has helped me through my brothers passing, my sons birth and so much more. She helps me with my social anxieties and my agoraphobia.
Yet even though I've had her on the Heart-Guard she has heart-worm. I have to find a way to pay the bills and get her the treatments she needs. I'm trying to get some sort of payment plan or some help where I can pay back. So far no luck. I'm doing all I can to get her taken care of and I will get her treated. No matter what!
I can't walk her though and won't be able to for sometime because with her treatments she's not allowed movement or it could kill her. The worms are breaking up and it could clog. And I can't walk Chynna, my boxer lab mix, because if I do without Darling she gets antsy and throws fits. That gets her working up a hissy and could put her into a bad spot too. So I can't full-fill my dog walking like I would want to. And I cant do her favorite thing, which is walking, since she is healing. I just want Darling healthy and happy again. So if you can just send her some good vibes I'd be real grateful! Thank you for letting me vent my worries. She is family and I am terrified for her.

today makes 17 days since my little pomchi Sparky passed, he had hernia surgery in July and didnt do well after, some days were really good, but overall, he had to be fed laxatives and soft foods ever since....the hernia returned and things took a turn for the worse.
on jan 22, he was in so much pain and i couldnt bear it, the vet seen him the next morning and said his bowels, etc, were obstructed and the hernia was only getting larger, he was in so much pain, malnourished and on the last day he could barely stand, he was only 9 years old, i had so hoped maybe they could do more surgery, but i knew i was being selfish, when i saw him that morning, i knew it was over, i had told myself the day before this was the likely outcome, and thought i was prepared, but i was not.
the pain is overwhelming, i cried and cried, and last night, i found tears washing down my face, i have locked my heart and swore to never love another dog, the pain is too overwhelming.
maybe someday i will loosen that lock, but for now, i mourn for my sweet little buddy, he was the sweetest cutest funniest little 8lb furball ever and i miss him so much.....

My oldest dog Meisha, a Border Collie cross has been diagnosed with Lymphoma.. there is no cure. This started last year when the vet found enlarged lymph nodes in both rear legs. She had a leg injury which was bleeding. The vet did a thorough exam of her and found them. A few weeks ago I was brushing her and she was pulling away. I felt four lumps on her back. A visit to the vet for her annual checkup and shots was last week. I mentioned the lumps to the vet, he found she was also running a high fever and prescribed antibiotics for ten days. They were unable to give her the shots as she was quite sick. Meisha will be ten years old on March 15th ... hope she gets to see her 10th birthday.

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this but thought I'd give it a shot.

Yesterday, we went to the Humane Society to look at some dogs. Originally, it was to look for a small dog for my sister, who wants one for Christmas. We walked in and the first dog we saw, we fell in love with! It was too big for my sister but after playing with him for a few minutes, he had our hearts!

He was so sweet and loved to play. He knew all of his commands (sit, lay, speak, shake etc). We already have 3 dogs but our heart and home has room for another. I completed an application for adoption and we made an appointment for a meet and greet with our other dogs for 1pm today.

We got there and all but one of our dogs got along with the new dog. Our dogs never react to any dogs. We take them to the dog park all the time and they love playing with everyone. We let them walk around the room and start sniffing each other. Our dog that was growling at first was beginning to warm up to the new dog. The humane society worker said she felt like it would be ok they just needed time to get to know each other. Her responsibility was to make sure their dog didn't react to our dogs (which he didn't).

She put him back in his room and brought us the paperwork to look at. Everything was in order and we were set to get him. I asked to see the new dog and our dog that was originally growling at him together one more time just to make sure they were still getting along.

We brought them back in the room together and our dog started growling again. The worker said it wouldn't be a good fit after all.

Our hearts were set on getting the new dog and saving his life. But we knew we couldn't be responsible owners and adopt him if there were going to be problems with our dogs getting along with him. I just broke down and started crying at the humane society.

It's been a rough day and all I can think about is that sweet dog. I'm hoping someone will adopt him before it's too late.

If anyone can spare some good thoughts, my husband is in the hospital after his colon ruptured. He's in ICU now & although his vital signs are finally beginning to get somewhere close to where they should be, it's been a rough, rough week.

My Winston and I need your prayers..

March 10th I lost my little girl, Muffin to a heart problem..... they said the right side of her heart wasn't working and she filled with fluid and within 2 months she was gone....

This week I took my son, Winston to the Vet.... he's been coughing and hasn't wanted to eat...... he doesn't play......... I thought it was because I got a foster dog and she came from a shelter he may have gotten kennel cough from her...... but after the Vet examined him and did blood work and an xray she said he has a heart problem!

I can't lose my son........ I haven't really gotten over losing my little girl I just can't lose him! He's only 7 years old..... he's been my healthy boy! he's very muscular because he's my walking buddy and we walk all the time...... I don't know what I'm going to do!!

She started him on an antibiotic and lasix..... now she got the results of his blood test back she wants him started on a heart medication....... she wants to see him in 2 weeks so she can do another x-ray to see how he's doing.....

I'm devastated...... he's my baby........ Mommy's little one.........

I agree!! I do not currently practice a religion, but I recognize the positive energy and intention in prayer. I also hold deep respect for other's points of view. Good comes in all shapes and forms.

I'm at a really good place in my life right now (happily married, good job, and a wonderful canine companion), so I'm fortunate enough to not need extra support. If and when that day comes, though,I'll welcome all the prayers, thoughts, and good wishes that I can get!

I will also send my own positive energy to all who need help.

I know I'm 3 years late on this but I just started on this message board. THANK YOU Carol for your first message on this thread.

I am on a christian message board for women with depression who are christians.

On the other boards it's hard for me to know what to say. I'd like to say I'll pray for someone sometimes. When I'm on other boards besides the christian one sometimes I'm not sure how to respond. If someone doesn't believe in prayer at all I don't want to offend them. Unless I clearly know, I say my thoughts are with you, thinking of you, etc.. I just wrote on a thread and so wanted to say my thoughts and prayers are coming your way. It's nice to see this thread where it sounds like everyone is supportive.

To all who are having problems with your dogs or have just lost one... you are in my prayers. I don't have to know each name to pray for all of you. emoticon

Thanks to you all who remembered Max and Joe in your prayers and who left messages of support for them both. Sadly Max died on Thursday and Joe followed him on the Friday night. Its been a very sad weekend but they are both out of pain now and at peace. If Max isn't waiting for me outside the Pearly Gates (or wherever I end up!) then I'm not going in either!
God bless you all.

Many thanks to all of you who have left messages and prayers for our dog Max and my next door neighbour Joe.
Sadly the vet now thinks that Max has cancer but we are waiting for the test results to come back on Friday. Joe is getting worse and I think its only a matter of time for him too.

Isn't it strange when you're low and need help something always comes. I was just browsing the Sparkteams pages and happened to see this topic.
Could I ask your prayers for my daughter's rottweiller Max. He has chronic diarrhea for weeks now and is so weak and thin. Tomorrow he has to have an exploratory operation to rule out cancer (our biggest fear) and we don't even know whether he will survive the operation. Please pray for him.
Also could I ask for your prayers for my next door neighbour Joe who is so ill in hospital. He is in isolation as he has e-coli and he is basically dying alone in a hospital side ward. It was his wish that he would die at home and this we cannot do for him. It is so sad - he has no close family to be with him.

I'm so sorry to hear about Murphy! We will be sure to pray about/for him.

I would like you all to know that my Spookum has finished his 28-day post surgical confinefment to the wretched elizabethan collar! He had cataract removal on both eyes 1 month ago and today we took off his "cone" and let him go free in the yard. He sees beautifully and seems to be very content. I'm so thankful we were able to do this for him!!

Please pray for my golden retriever, Murphy. He is 12 years old and has been sickly for the last 2 years. Now he is experiencing seizures. The vet did tests but can't determine a reason. I'm worried sick about him. Thank you all and may God bless you!

Hello,
My name is Kim and I have been a member of SP since December 28th
I have 2 yellow Labrador Retrievers (a boy and a girl) my little girl Tayah had to have emergency surgery for an infection that they found called Piometria. They removed her uterus and overies. She is struggling to live. The infection was so bad that it has spread to her pancreas-liver-galbladder and effecting her insulin.
I was hoping that I could ask for prayer for her. She is in ICU at the university (just moved from the Vets to there yesterday)

She is our baby girl - it would be so hard to go on without her
and I don't want to!!
Thank you for any time you offer for prayer for her... I really appreciate it VERY MUCH!!

My friends golden died.....she was like my own dog.....im crying so much!

I was in the trial of my life and this dog would sit on the floor with me for hours and let me talk to her or just pet her and just be with her. she knew when I needed to do which. if i was overwhelmed, she would put me to sleep and when i woke up, there she would be with her big paw gently resting on my cheek, as if to soothe me and protect me....

I loved that dog....

charlie......

......I miss you!

You,O God,are steady and firm, but I am easily shaken and recurrently restless: establish me in your love, fix me in your purposes,so that I may without wavering live to your praise and glory. Amen This prayer comes from Praying With Jesus. It is a year of prayers and reflections the words and actions of Jesus. For the Lord is my strength in all areas of my life. God Bless everyone emoticon

I believe that sometimes, most times, the Lord will guide us to the ones that will be of support and help when we need it, even when we don't realize it and that He should be included in every aspect of your life.

Besides, dog spelled backwards---GOD

I am a firm believer that God comes in many forms. I think that it is important not to discriminate, and respect those that see/believe God in other ways than what I may. I am also hoping that they will give me the same respect. I would hope that small interest groups do not change the fabric and tradition that has founded this continent, but that our young countries (both north and south) do not hold the ideal that we are better, smarter or have the God given right to tell others that their "God" is the wrong one.

I did believe that this is a dog lovers forum, not a religious forum?

What a wonderful post, Thank you so much for posting. First, I want to say I am totally behind you in your thoughts of the gov. wanting to remove "In God we Trust from our coins.
There is a very easy way to boycott this action. When you are offered the coin, just politely say " You would rather have the dollar bill.
In God we Trust, are the principles this country was founded on. When we start leaving God out. we are doomed for failure.
I have taken note of the prayer requests and will be remembering them in prayer.
We have an awesome God who is able to do abundently above all we ask or think.
I am so glad for this post, now I know God directed me to it.

Have a great evening everyone

Shirley

I don't go to the same church as most of you, and your prayers are different from the way I pray. Your prayers don't upset me. I like them. Maybe I got it wrong, but I thought that saying you would pray for someone was your way of saying "I love you as a person, and you are worth something" I hope I'm right because I need all the love I can get.

Rita, you have put it so beautifully, and yet how do those who were not blessed by having Carol in their lives really know her.....

It's 4 months next week since I lost my beautiful 'angel-boy' Lucky, and 3 months since Carol left all of us, also. She was so helpful and supportive when we first learned Luck had some problems, and then all through his illness and final few days. She always made me feel that between my love and hers that he would make it.

I knew Carol had a number of serious health issues, but she never made a big deal of them, never whined about how poorly she must have felt at times. None of us knew just how ill she really was. Carol was one of the most caring and generous people I have ever known, with an absolutely 'wicked' sense of humour.

I am so grateful that I had a chance to know her, even if only as a cyberspace friend, and even though it was for such a short period of time. She is in my heart and memories, and I know she and her beloved Doxies are teasing and loving my Collies as they romp and play together in the fields on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

I miss you so much my friend.

Sorry I am getting to this so late - my internet has been sporadic at best for the last month or so, and still no solution in sight at this moment.

Hello to all who might not have known CAROL, or by her profile name: MYSTIQUEMYSTIC.

It still hurts, even after almost 2 months after our loss, but I will try and tell you what I knew of her.
If anyone else here, knew Carol, why don't we tell these others about her, so that they too might know her. I think Carol would like that, as she was very much a people/doggy person!

Carol was a team leader of several teams here,
(at least two.)
Love to cook, and this one are the two that come to mind.
She was always there for the newbies; as well as the seasoned Sparker, if they had a problem or question.
But, she NEVER made you feel like she was there ONLY as a team leader, but more like your friend.
She just had that aura about her, of being able to make everybody here comfortable and COMFORTED when they needed it.
I could almost see her smiling as I read her posts;
and most of the time, she did not do the 'LOL', or 'HA, HA' thing; she would put say: 'TEE HEE'!!!
I SWEAR, I could actually hear a little girl giggle everytime I read that from her!
I think Carol loved all dog breeds, in general, and DOXIEs in particular. She always loved talking about her own, but LOVED hearing about yours too! Whether they were Doxies or whatever, she just loved hearing about the dogs in our lives! LOL!!!
In closing, if you knew Carol, you knew about love,
kindness, compassion, laughter, the love of a dog, and the power of prayer. She was all of these things and lots more I am sure her other SP friends can tell you about.
If you will page down (on THIS page), you will see one of her later posts, (from 1/7/09 8:52 P) you can still click on her profile photo and her SP page will come up. You can read her SP page, and notes from those who wrote to her even after her death,
see her photos, and then you will see the real Carol!
GOD HAS HER NOW AND WE ALL MISS HER TERRIBLY!

Thanks for asking about her and giving me another chance to say good~bye and I love & miss ya, Carol!

emoticon X 100 to all of you!

Many Blessings,

Hi All,

I am having to get another mammo bc there are spots on the latest ones.
I COVET YOUR PRAYERS! Set your prayer caps on tight, and call all of your prayer warriors, angels (or whatever you call your praying people!) to my side! I have history on my Mom's side of several cancers, this is one of them!
I go in @ 8:30 a week from today; I know it's early, but I never like waiting until the last minute!!!!!!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks all of ya, you are such a GREAT group of folks!

BTW: I took a set of children's books into my local library and donated them in Carol's name; (mystiquemystic), for those of you who did not get to know her; and I have another handful of the same to do this weekend. I know she smiles down and watches all of us with love in her heart! I MISS HER!

PEACE & LOVE TO ALL OF YOU!
