You really have done well, just seem to have hit a plateau for some reason. Do you know why?
There are some articles in SP on plateaus, how to understand them and what you can try to shake loose.
Good luck.

I'm at 162.5 this morning . . . . been hovering there, up or down a pound, since January.

Good. You have found the key to moderation and not eliminating those foods you love, just moderating them.

Thanks Cat!
I've joined a maintenance group and they are a very active group which is great. My eating habits stayed the same throughout this journey, I merely ate less of what I'd normally eat and paid more attention to the cheese, butter and toast items.. I was way over on the cheese intake, so cutting that back did take a bit of adjustment, but I love peanut butter and eat that more now.

I've added a bit to each meal and allow myself a small dessert now and that should work.. I'll just take it week by week..

Congrats on making your goal.
Here is a link to a SP article on making changes to your nutrition and fitness trackers for maintenance.
It is more an art than a science and you are right to make gradual changes.
Just remember that if you go back to eating like you used to you won't maintenance.
Incorporate what you have learned in your daily life and you will be fine.
Join a maintenance team for your appropriate age group for more maintenance support.

Don't weigh at night unless you always weigh at night. You eat and drink during the day and your not going to send it all through your system.

I am sooooo amazed! I weighed in this morning, as Friday is my "weighin" day and I was at goal weight! I thought it would take all winter to get there. Does the food tracker work... YES... it's what showed me where I was over eating.. emoticon

I was at 169 lbs when I weighed Sunday a.m., which is another 2 lbs down. For whatever reason though, I stepped back on the scale Sunday evening, and it showed 172. I should not have done that. Now I hesitate to celebrate being out of the 170's. I'll save my "Whoo Hoo!" until next week's weigh-in.

Congrats on losing the .5... Nice to see you getting more active and maybe even enjoying exercise.. I did another weighin this morning and I was actually down a pound!! It must have been that salty bean soup I had for dinner that made me retain fluid.. so I'm actually celebrating too now.. emoticon

UP a .5 pound this week.. it seems I've found my maintenance weight as I didn't add many calories to my daily eating and don't want to go lower than 1300. I'm happy here as my original goal was 115 and then I lowered it. I'm going to keep on eating the same and exercising in hopes of toning more and see how it goes next week.

Hi Onnalee
What sort of exercise do you do? Maybe you need to eat a little more for a week or 2 and strive to lose 1/2 lb a week.. it doesn't sound like much, but maybe you need to maintain for awhile and then push forward again.

I know the holiday's are difficult and it takes alot of will power to not overeat all the goodies.. maybe turning to your Sparkpeople friends for support will help.

You are doing really well in accomplishing what you have to date!

Hi Team! I weigh 171 lbs this a.m. which is down 2 lbs from last week, and 11 lbs since 9/30/12. That's good and everything, but I'm finding it harder instead of easier to stick with my plan. The holidays scare me, as in I'm afraid I'll just give in to all the stuff I want to eat, and to the quantities of that nonhealthy food. I've gone over my calories almost every day this past week; I'm not even sure how I lost 2 lbs. I need to get remotivated, somehow.

It is really good to exercise while changing eating habits to lose weight. But, it can also be discouraging if you don't think about it right. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. So don't fret if the scale isn't going down as fast as you want it to. Measure instead!

Onnalee, you should be excited. Your consistent losses show you are doing what you need to do to make a real lifestyle change. Keep up the good work.

Everyone else, don't lose hope if you aren't losing as fast as you expect. Study your actions and make modifications accordingly.

You are worth the effort!

Congrats to those of you that are knucking down and losing weight.
To those that aren't losing be sure to study your nutritional report every day and LEARN from it and modify your food choices.
It's always a lot more satisfying to reach one's goals on a timely basis rather than hover over them forever.
Good luck to all.

Gained a pound. emoticon

I know it's normal and nothing to fret over, but darn it, I needed that number to go down or at least stay the same, to help my motivation (which has been lacking) if nothing else.

Oh well, new week is here, and I'm ready for it!

Ok it is a day early for weigh in but I could not wait to see results. I have to share this. Now, I did make sure my scale was set to 0 last week and again made sure it was set to 0 this week before stepping on. I also realize a lot of this might be water weight, but I am down 14 lbs!!! With as much weight as I have to lose this is a huge boost to my confidence. I weigh in at 256 lbs!

Hey Team! I missed posting my weigh in . . . I'm down 3 pounds.

I can tell by the way my clothes are fitting and the way my body feels that I'm on the right track.

Well, today is Day 7 and tomorrow is my first weigh in . . . . I don't know what the scales and measuring tape will reveal but I know I haven't felt this good in a long time (except my lower back is out again; will see Chiropractor on Friday)

Well aquired a scale today. NOT HAPPY!! I am the heaviest I have ever been including when I was pregnant with my son and on bed rest much of the pregnancy! I have to find a way to get the weight off. My scale reads 270 lbs. On my short 5'1" frame that is a lot of extra weight!

Well, I still don't have a scale, so I took my measurements again. Nothing changed except my thigh, I am down almost 1/4 inch. I measured 3 times to make sure I read it right, lol. Anyway, lets hear it for all of our success!!

I lost 6 lbs in my first week. As I wrote in my blog, I know that is only due to decreasing the calories so dramatically. I'm not sure but I think I must have been eating about 4000 calories a day before, and then went to 1500. The nutritional value of those 1500 calories was so-so. I still don't have any energy. I sure didn't exercise to speak of - only 52 minutes for the week. I started out strong on the 8 glasses of water, but for the past two days have only consumed 4. I don't feel particularly great, but I did lose 6 lbs. Moved the scale all around just to make sure.

I found it liberating to have a weight tracker that shows on every message I send and on my Spark page. It made me be truthful with myself and others - no hiding. It also allowed me to rejoice when I lost as well as get cudos from others.
It also held me accountable for my gains when that happened.

Here's a trick I used when losing my 71 pounds.
I recorded every pound lost in my tracker. I did not record my gains UNLESS the gain lasted more than three days.
If the gain lasted three days I had to rethink what I was doing, or not doing, that could cause the gain.

Good luck everyone.
I did this because ups and downs can be termporary due to women's issues, sodium, etc. It was a psychological thing that really worked for me.

Weigh in whatever day you want. You don't need to do it the same day every week if you don't want. This is entirely up to you. Just be consistent with the time of day. I like to do it in the morning before I've eaten anything and haven't gotten dressed.

HI I just joined today. I don't have a working scale so can't weigh in at the moment. It is on the list of needed items for next week, but wasn't in this weeks budget. What day do we weigh in? I am going to try and make it to my in-laws and use their scale to get a more accurate starting weight.

ONNALEE11, I know how you feel. I weighed in this morning at 202, I haven't been this heavy in 6 years. At that time I swore I would never be over 200 again, and I have yo-yo'd for the 6 years but mostly between 175 and 190. That's it, I'm done. I am ready to lose slow, and be accountable for every 1/2 pound I lose, or gain. But I am not going to jump 5 pounds down, 3 pounds up, etc...

*sigh*, this morning I weighed 202lbs.

I just joined SP today, at a lifetime high of 182 lbs. That is more than I weighed when I was pregnant! My goal is to get to 155 by 4/1/13.

While not being obessed with what the scale says one should use the scale as one standard of how well you are doing in reducing your weight.

Sharing your weight and reduction (or increase) weekly is a good way to be honest with yourself.
