my purple bush beans do vine a bit, not enough for stakes though. I find pole beans are much more prolific for me. Bush beans don't to do well for me. I the rabbits seem to eat the bush bean plants way more than the pole beans

I prefer the pole beans as they were the ones in both my grandparents garden and our garden when I was growing up. I had them last year but circumstance limited what I could grow this year
Keep on track
What is the name of the bush bean? My pole beans do so well I grow them as a privacy screen and they all have purple flowers. Now the only bush beans I grow are yellow.
I've sometimes had some pole beans growing among my bush beans. Could be a matter of the seed companies mixing up the seeds, or else a bit of cross pollination between bush and pole varieties.
If it's to be, it's up to ME.

I have both growing right now and they've gotten so mixed up in each other, i don't know which one is which (unless I look at the base to see where it was planted). They seem almost the same to me!
My pole beans have never done all that well so last year I planted both pole and bush beans. That worked well so this year I tried that again... About 75% of my bush beans, however, have been vining... sending out shoots to climb. I've now had to stake them as well. I thought maybe I had mixed up the seeds, but no. (My bush beans have purple flowers while my pole bean flowers are white.) Has this ever happened to anyone else? What's up???
(BTW - the "bush" beans are actually doing better as pole beans than the pole beans are!)
