ACIMPEGGY,
You are very sweet to reply back. I got referred to wellness coach a few years because I wanted to improve my overall health and well being. i Our appointment was scheduled before I found out about the cancer. I asked her about health foods to stregthen my body. I read about avoiding pesticides and eating organic too. I live in rural Nevada and only have a Wallmart and Scolaries. I am trying to learn and find my way through all of this.

I love Stephanie Plum. I listen to book while comm uniting. I think that the interaction among the characters just tickles me in so many ways. I enjoy JB Rob books too for that reason. Working toward a solution gives me hope. Tattoes on the heart by Father Gregory Boyle is non fiction book that convery hope and change and caring.. I think that i will change my page too.

Holly, honey, regarding that diet. Didn't read my below post thoroughly, but I see I asked if anyone had heard of that carb cutting thing. If your wellness coach is educated in breast cancer, ask her. My son is a cardiologist. His attitude is, "Mom there are so many kinds of cancer cells, just like there are many cold viruses. That diet may well help some people with a certain kind, but I don't know which kind. If you can find out what kind that is and it's the kind you have, go for it. Otherwise, just eat a nutritious variety of food, limit treats, but don't think you have to cut out anything."

I redid the center of my page partially as an update on my 'condition.' You might want to check it out.

OMG! You're on a Stephanie Plum team! I have so many teams...I can't join another! I received an invite to Greatest Grandmas and Grandpas. Yesterday I saw A Walk to Rivendell...maybe if they put me on medical leave I'll join more.

It's been impossible to activate a couple of the ones I co-lead so I kinda...ahem, gave up on them. Better check today.

Have a great Sunday, and even if you don't respond to this, I wish you luck, love and a decicated medical team. emoticon emoticon

I received results of my breast bioposy in May. I have seen another surgeon, wellness coach(help with diet exercise) will see oncologist on Tuesday. I am still working full time. I am not sure about cutting carbs. I tried it before and didnt feel right. I work 4 tens. It is along day not to have enough food to keep going.
My lumpectomy scheduled for July 16th. I will know more about cancer cells. I have the cancer test too since my mother, one sister, and my aunt had cancer too. I think of how they fought it. Only my sister died from the complications. I am scared at times but mostly staying positive. I enjoy walking around neighborhood and using the machines in garage.

My daughter suggested I try that diet. My son is a cardiologist, though....he says there are so many kinds of cancer cells that the diet may help or may not. He just recommended eating a variety of nutritious foods.

I wonder how to tell...I will be able to tell the kinds of cells when I see my oncologist Friday.
Breast cancer has a different way of telling the stage, too.

Sigh. Life gets so complicated.

I had quit this team because of inactivity, got an email about this thread and had to join the team again to respond.

We're following a mainly ketogenic diet. Cutting out the carbs and replacing it with proteins and fats plus plenty of water-keeps me more satisfied than most diets. I'm losing weight and my A1C is under 8.

My husband was treated at CTCA and they stressed that no diet is clinically proven to halt cancer. We don't believe that at all.

How's your treatment going?

So glad hubby is doing well.

I am going to be treated at the Cardinal Bernadine Cancer Center at Loyola University Medical Center.

I have heard mentioned that cancer cells feed on sugar. Oh, no!

Has anyone here followed a low sugar (and/or carb) diet? Has it helped? Was it recommended by your medical team?

Thanks, and best of luck to you! emoticon emoticon

Hubby's cortisol level is too low which causes things like dizziness and fatigue. We're staying in today because he doesn't feel right. We're staying at a very cozy guest house here in Chicago while he has treatments at CTCA. Everyone at CTCA is nice.

My hubby is getting treatment at Cancer Treatment Center of America. He gets radiation Monday through Friday and Temodar (chemo pill) 7 days a week. Hubby will have 35 radiation treatments, so he has 28 more to go. Once the radiation is finished, he will continue the chemo for a year.

Radiation to the brain is tricky. The goal is to kill off as many cancerous cells as possible, but at the same time some good cells are damaged. The hope is that the good cells will repair themselves over time. Since my husband's tumor was located in the frontal lobe, things like personality, memory, inhibition, judgement, critical thinking and communication are affected. Communication meaning information processing is affected. I never know what nuance my husband will display from day to day, but my love for him is unwavering.

On New Year's Eve I took my husband to the ED for the worst headache ever. Three days later he was in the OR having a tumor removed-high grade glioma. God has already kicked it to cancer for us, so I'm going to continue to kick it, spit on it, and call it names.
