Hi Cindy and Everyone,

Good news! Hubby will be coming home this afternoon. His healing is going well and he can continue to recuperate at home. That will be so much easier for us both I think. Except....now I'll need to begin cooking again! Oh well, a small price to pay.

Thank you for all the support and the reminder to care for myself.

Bernie

Berniec37, I hope your husband is feeling better and recovers soon. Make sure you take care of yourself. We don't realize just how stressful it is having a loved one in the hospital but I can tell you from when dgs was 2 months old and got sick and had to go in the hospital a year ago and then 77 yr old DM got sick and went in the hospital last fall that it all takes a toll on you.

Mongo2six, you did great!! I can usually resist the temptation for a soda or fast food meal but DH can't! Whenever he comes with me the budget gets messed up and he can't resist that soda for the drive home plus usually some munchies! Like I need munchies!?!?! Or him for that matter. LOL

I did my grocery shopping today (and used cash of course). I was out later than I expected, but I resisted the temptation to stop and grab fast food, AND I didn't buy a Diet Pepsi in the checkout at Wal-mart.

Since hubby has been in the hospital since last Wed., I am actually having to use extra gas to drive to and from each day; a total of about 45 miles daily. I am saving on groceries though as I didn't shop this week; I'm just eating salads from the cafeteria. that would ordinarily seem extravagant but at about $2.50 a big meal, that's all I have to buy. My coffee and water is free. Not only no grocery shopping this week, but no other shopping either. So I may do ok with this challenge.

So this last week of the month lets see how much we can save each day. If you walk instead of driving then that's a savings so report it here. If you bring your lunch instead of buying it then report the savings. Let's keep a tally going for the week and see just how much we can save for the week!! Ok?
