Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry I haven't been around at all.My internet has been down from all of the rain. The main box for our nieghborhood is in my yard and it appears to be sinking into the ground, so I guess it got really saturated from the rains. I went out one morning and water was up to the bottom of my car door.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of you who participated in the Father's Day Challenge. I hope you had as much fun as I did.

Summer- aww, thanks for your kind words! I'm glad that the challenge helped to encourage you to push yourself a little harder.

Week 4 Thurs, 6/12

My progress since week one 5/14
SW: 166 - DOWN to 159 LOSS 7 lbs
Starting Measurements:
Hips: 43 - DOWN to 42 LOSS 1 in
Thighs: 24.5 - DOWN to 24 LOSS .5 in (I forgot to measure the first 2 weeks, so it could have been higher)
Waist: 38 - DOWN to 35 LOSS 3 in

Do you see that LOSS I am a big loser

1) 180 mins exercise - 9 pts (6 days + 3 bonus)
2) 8 glasses water - 10 pts (7 days + 3 bonus) I drink more than 8 every day and have been for years, that is not an issue for me
3) Weekly weigh in w/ measurements - lost 4 lbs and 2 inches - 6pts WOW, go me
4) Weekly Choice Goal was the same for each week, sleep 8 hrs every night - 5 points
5) Weekly Financial goal - 5 points
6) Individual Bonus Point – 2pt
Total- 37


When I started this challenge the 1st and 2nd weeks I did 150 minutes, 5 times a week of exercise NOW I am doing 180 minutes, 6 times a week. I am going strong and will continue on. This is has been so much fun I have enjoyed our Minute Mavens. Heather you have been an awesome team leader THANKS!!! I have set more goals and I will keep on going and log on my own. When the next team challenge is ready to go I will be fighting ready

Well folks I am back from vacation. The healthy habits weren't so bad exercise and water-wise, especially for a vacation, but lets just say that I really enjoyed the food - and lots of it. I know I will get back on track (yes, we are eating lots of salad this week!) but I do feel badly for having wrecked my points here. Hopefully someone is having a great week and can make up for me!

Good job Jenny!

I used egg whites with my breakfast instead of whole eggs and used Pam in the pan instead of butter.

I made my own spaghetti sauce last night.

We had veggies steamed in just water tonight instead of using butter.

--- BTW ---
I'll be out of town from tomorrow until late Friday or early Sat. So I'm probably not going to get my stats in, but I'll try. At the worst, I just won't be counted this time. But I'll be back in time to have all of your stats posted on Sunday. Good luck Mavens!!

hi
to my oat porridge breakfast i added 15g of sultanas and two dessert spoons of wheat bran. plus a sliced banana. giving myself 1/3 of the days fibre. and 2 fruits.

for dinner i did cottage pie to which i added peas, carrots and tinned tomatoes

i am falling asleep here at the computor and i still have to load the dishwasher and prepare tomorrows lunch

For at least one meal a day (or all three meals if you can), change it to make it healthier. If you normally buy your lunch, pack it. If you usually eat white rice, switch to brown. If you’re having dessert, try berries in cool whip instead of cobbler and ice cream.

Mavens, and Snotties and wannabe Pirates, OH MY ! Does it really take all of you to get together and try to keep the Sassy Steppers form being a threat to the mini mavens? That's a pretty sad state of being for you all. Well, we have better things to do, like 10,000 steps a day. We don't just stop at 30 minutes. As for that junk you bought us, thanks but no thanks. We don't eat that garbage. That's probably why we don't poop out after 30 minutes. So take it back, because we all took a vote and don't want to see it go to waste.

You're close Summer. The inches lost are full inches on one body part at a time. So you get the point for the waist, but not the .5 point for the thigh. But if you lose another .5 inch from your thigh next week, you can count it then. Good job!

Some of you may notice that your totals differ from what I have. There are two main reasons. One is the bonus points for water or exercise. For either of these, you get a point for every day you do 30min of exercise and a point for every day you drink 8 glasses of water. But if you do these for at LEAST 4 days, you get 3 bonus points. Some of you accomplished these for more than 4 days and deserved bonus points.
The other reason is that a few of you are putting 3pts for your Choice Goal. This is worth 5pts. So I added those points.

Our team's participation points were low b/c of 6 people not posting both weeks. The good news is that after two weeks of a person not posting, they are considered out of the challenge and will not affect the Team's participation points bonus. So good job to everyone who has stuck through the first two weeks! Just one and a half more to go. If you want to cheer on a team mate, here's our team's roster as of today:

No worries here, I am doing good with my fitness and other goals, busy but making the time to do it, my body begs me and that is an awesome feeling. I did go and visit the silly steppers last week to give them a little heck!!! I cant wait to see how we did with our points.

I like a variety, here is what I have been doing. Jillian (From Biggest Loser) Workout, Boy does she work you hard, Carmen Electra Striptease, its fun and a bit silly but it gives a good workout. Resistance Band Workout DVD from Gaiam I felt that one for two days. Prevention 3-2-1 Circuit Training DVD and Cathy Smith 10 min ABS, good one and not that hard. Brisk walking with light hand weights, we have lots of hills and stairs around my community, plus I figured if anyone tries to mess with me I can smack them with my weights LOL I have fitness tv on cable and you can find quite the variety, all levels and everything you can think of and then some. The library has some great fitness DVDs you can keep them for 3 weeks. I have NO EXCUSESemoticonemoticon

Everyone - I'll have stats up by the end of tonight, PROMISE! My best friend's wedding is in about 11 days, so there's lots of rehearsals and crafts going on. So I'm having a computer night tonight to get caught up here and with my homework. So look forward to those.

And as Jenny pointed out, the thread is a bit quiet. I'm sure we're all super busy with Summer here, but try to take a moment out to either encourage a teammate on their Sparkpage or go and taunt all those Silly Steppers. That's one of the best parts about doing a challenge!

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't gotten the totals in yet. I've had a lot going on with it being the last week of school for my kids. So I'll have those up for everyone ASAP. And don't forget to either set your personal goal for this week (or continue it if you're doing it all month), and to do the financial goal of:
* Week 2 (5/22-5/28) "Protect The Planet" – This week’s focus is on things that save the planet and may also save you money. Try to do a different activity daily (Ex. Walk around your neighborhood collecting litter and sorting recyclables, walk/bike to your destination, save dishwater for plants, etc.)

I know tomorrow is the last day for week 2, and I'm sorry I didn't get this all up sooner! But the financial goal doesn't have to be a daily thing for the week. So if you haven't done it yet, get out there tomorrow and collect some recyclables and drop them off, reuse dish water, keep a bucket in the shower, turn off lights or replace the bulbs with LED or fluorescent ones.

Melissa, you and anyone else who posted today get the 2pt bonus for posting early (before Friday).

So great job to everyone on their early posts!!!

I notice that a lot of people are not getting their weekly choice goal points. Are there any questions regarding this one? It's almost a "gimme". It's just any area of your life you may need improvement, whether for the one week and something new the next, or for the whole challenge. A lot of you are at (or almost at) your goal weight. So for this, you may want it to be something like "balance the checkbook weekly" for finances, or "floss teeth daily/ 5 times a week, etc". Some people are doing Coach Nicole's Summer Boot Camp, so maybe "do 3 of Coach Nicole's videos a week"? Or maybe you have a vice stopping you from getting off a plateau? Your weekly choice challenge could be "No Alcohol/One drink per week", "7-8 Hours of sleep", "One green veggie a day", "A fruit/veggie with each meal", etc. Be creative and be enthused. If you're having a hard time, succeeding in this part of the challenge could give you motivation in the other areas!

i had a really bad episode with my knee last week so i have had to be careful with my cardio up to the weekend.so i have not had my full points this week.

i will need to change my goal for this week as i am going to be away camping so i am going to set this weeks goal at 10 000 steps a day.

we will be leaving around lunch time tomorrow and will be back about lunch time Tuesday.

there is very wet weather forcast for the weekend
