Once I find out for sure about Josephine's Financial Goal, that's it. And she's already made her goal of total weight loss, so I'm sure she has no lb/inch losses. But everyone is in and we'd have TOTAL participation points for the first time in the challenge. Great job to everyone!

Josephine, this week we were to shop at a local produce/farmer's stand for the financial goal. This could also be a local grocer that isn't so big like a chain grocery store. Basically some place that keeps your money in your community. Did you do anything like this in the last week?

Yeah, he's crazy if he thinks I'm buying them yachts! I don't even have enough sparkpoints for one yacht, let alone a fleet, lol.

So, c'mon girls! There were so many half inch losses last week that are sure to be full inches this week- with plenty of strength training! So go to a Farmer's Market, and max out that water and exercise!

Toby was nice enough to calculate what every team has so far, even if he can only spell as well as an uneducated pirate! So I did some editing.

Totals for the first 4 weeks:

Pirates: 23.0+23.5+24.25+23.625= 94.375
Hotties: 23.2+22.2+22.7+24.5= 92.6

So currently the pirates are winning the challenge by 1.775 points.

We have to beat them by more than 1.775 points to win the whole challenge and we can get Toby to buy us some hot tubs.

So... LETS DO IT GALS!!!

That sounds SO exciting!!! Don't you feel good doing all that work?

I did two bootcamp videos today and walked 70 mins, about half faster, half "normal" since I ran into my neighbors on the way home and did the 1.5 mile loop again. :)

today in UK it was a Public Holiday and the sun blazed down all day. but my DH and i were indoors in the bedroom building a new wardrobe. we are now tired, sore and stiff (MDF is very heavy) but it looks good. we still need to put the doors on and although they are lined up in the dinning room we will need to wait for next month to buy the wood to fix them in place.

Week 5 Financial Goal: shop at either a farm, a farm stand or a farmer's market to support local farmers. They would probably be open in just about all states by this time of year. Alaska might have issues, but otherwise we should be good.

Girlies just a thought I talkked one of my other teams into just doing the May bootcamp challenge as it was hard for me to be as active in all the challenges and keep up with points for each team so maybe we could just do that one for may as it sounds like everyone will be very busy. Just a thought I'm open to anything but don't want to get overwhelmed or not participate in a team

Jenny, the way your other cat is acting is very normal. When pets are close to each other they will feel a loss for their "partner". I had a dog and cat that were close. When the first dog died, the cat would search for him. We eventually got another dog, but the cat never got close to any other pet that we had. We eventually then had two dogs. When the second dog died 12 years later, the third dog went into a depression for a couple of months and would not play at all. He just layed around.

To further illustrate this, and some may see this as morbid, but when my father died, his dog went nuts and howled constantly for him. We took the dog to the funeral home after two days so she could see my father in the casket and she never howled for him after that. I can't explain it other than it worked to calm the dog down. She and my father went every where together and then suddenly he wasn't there.

So animals do feel a loss and they do grieve. If you have ever watched any of the wild animal shows, occassionally you can see animals going through a type of ritual for the dead animal, such as elephants and members of the monkey families.

thank you for the sympathy. we had watched Rhamus deteriorate over the winter so it was not unexpected.
but his sister is missing him. last night she watched the cat flap all night waiting for him to come home. and today she is just wandering around calling him and checking out all his favourite sleeping spots. theirs was a love hate relationship with Bodicea doing all the hissing and spitting.

the scale is looking good so far.

Jenny, am very sorry about your loss. It sounds like she was a cat that was a part of the family which makes it that much harder. All my pets have had long lives, usually 15-17 years, so I can sympathize with you. Time will heal the hurt. emoticon

Jenny, almost the same thing happened to my Isis. But she had fallen off the roof. She was living at my mom's b/c my stepson is allergic. I took her to the vet, but that was all I could afford. The vet said more tests would need to be done to know for sure and my mom couldn't help with that. So my mom had her come home and Isis eventually passed. It's better that you're putting your cat to sleep. Poor Isis spent the last few months of her life falling off of things and walking into walls b/c her equilibrium was all off.It was sad to watch b/c she was always one of those fierce hunter-like cats.

I did an hour on the treadmill today. I think it's almost that time b/c I just wasn't up for my usually sprinting. So I did a walk(1:30)/jog(0:30) interval. Not too bad, though. I did 3.33mi during that hour. So it's just about 20 min slower than I would normally do.

If anyone is wanting to up their strength training, I've started a new routine. They're expensive videos, but I'm borrowing them. It's a whole series called P90X. It will take you through 1hr-2hr videos everyday. Every other day it switches between strength training to cardio/flexibility. I'm not doing their cardio b/c I prefer to do the treadmill, but I am doing the strength training and it's TOUGH! Just google P90X and you'll see what I'm talking about.

we had a sad day today. one of my cats who is elderly and has a nuerological problem. fell down the stairs this morning and had a seizure. the vet said there was very little he could do for the cat as we already knew he did not respond to the only treatment available. the seizures will only get worse and more frequent and they are painfull for him. so we agreed to end it for him.

Melanie, you didn't let the team down. I missed last week's post AND this past post I gained 2 lbs. We all go through ups and downs. You actually still had a great week for pounds and inches. Like I said, just keep them coming and you can count those 2lbs and 2 inches (plus whatever else you may lose) for this week's losses.

I think we're all going to do great this week! Remember my side challenge of one more glass of water? Keep doing that! And I have one more side challenge:

Alright ladies, since we lost very few pounds, let's make this OUR week!! I walked 45 mins yesterday followed by 15 mins heavy cleaning (every wash a 74 lb dog that doesn't want to be washed, yup, just a part of it, I managed to move fast and do him in 5ish mins!). And I already got in 20 mins today. :)

Don't worry about it. We all have off days/weeks/months. I certainly wasn't any help this week at all. Didn't loose, but then didn't gain either which was a benefit there. We have started a new week and we will all move forward to get those pesky, scummy pirates!

Sorry, I didn't mean to let the team down. I have had a very bad and hectic week. Husband travels, teacher conference for one child and the other child came down with chicken pox(mild case since he has had his vaccination)... I will do better next week and my goal is to get down into the 100's!!!!

Okay all bought a measuring tape on the way home and am I glad I did got us some more points that way if you remember I couldn't measure last week cuz my 3 year old hide mine so here goes:

emoticon Jessica, if we don't get a posting from you this week then it will be assumed you have left the challenge next week.

Jenny, you may want to try changing something about your eating habits or workout routine. If you normally have a big dinner and small lunch, have a large lunch and small dinner. If you do all your strength training on certain days, do it daily but different muscle groups on different days, or change the intensity (it may be time to up the weights/resistance). Or maybe you need more water or to change your caloric amounts?

i am finding this plateau to be very frustrating and annoying surely it has to break soon????

isn't it amazing, normally i can go for two weeks without spending anything other than my weekly bus pass, but this week! we have had collections for people leaving and having babies etc but fortunately i have had two non spend days.

this next weeks challenge is a non starter for me as our tax system in the UK is such that we do not get tax rebates. and as a public servant we don't get bonuses either. and as i am at the top of the scale for my grade i don't even get a pay increase this year. (which is what today's strike was all about) except i could not afford to take the day off unpaid.

Financial Goal: either plan what you will do with your rebate/stimulus check or tax return, or do something wise with it, if you receive it by then. If you don't get any of these, score the points anyways.


I'm sure this is a no-brainer for all of us. I'm going to do with it the same thing I did with my tax return: pay off debt

I just came across this article and think the pirates obviously need help and can't make it on their own. emoticon And of course the writer had to put this in language that the pirates could understand since they have their own "secret" language.

Anyway, have a good laugh and DON'T let the pirates know we know their secret or else they will come raiding us because we now know their secret.

I have a BS Degree in Health Education w/teaching certification K-12. When my kids were growing up I was fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom. For a while though I taught in a school for mentally handicapped children and adults and was also the residential manager for the homes there with about 30 employees that I supervised.

After my divorce I wanted to go in a different direction and went back to school and got my paralegal certification and was encouraged to go on to law school but couldn't come up with the bucks. After working in a law firm I am semi-retired but always on the lookout for an interesting job to supplement the income.

I've worked in the criminal justice field for the last 6 years (I took 8 months off to move from Tx to Mt and change jobs.) I'm a Lt. of C.O.'s in a center that has not opened yet, issues with state politics. So I guess I'm an overqualified janitor. The good thing is that by the time we get inmates, I will know the unit like I know myself... inside and out emoticon

That's why I can get so much cardio... pushing mops and brooms emoticon

I want to inspire by my actions, not by what I say I want to do.
