Well said. I wish I had time to do my 8 min in the Morning. I do one every week or so.

Hi folks,
I'm glad this team is here and excited to see new members coming on board, but want to share that to be honest, sadly, I have NOT been able to keep up with my 8 min in the morning program. I am not giving up, I am just realistic in my goals and what I can do right now.

I am hopeful come summer time I will start this up again - and would love to post here when I jump back in, but want to extend an invite to anyone who would like to take over the team. No feelings hurt, no toes stepped on - just want this place to exist for folks who are working the program to be able to come and share success and challenges - doesn't matter to me who's running the team!

I'm closer to my goal today than I was yesterday!

I hear you! I'm super busy too. I appreciate all the thumbs up you've given me. I don't know what to do about closing it, but I support you in what ever you chose to do. Just keep in touch, ok?

Hi Folks,

As you may have noticed...I'm not able to spend as much time on Spark as I'd like. Logging in to spin the wheel and checking out the feed (if I'm lucky) is about all I've had time for these days. Though I'm hopeful to get back to my 8 min in the morning this summer, with schedule changes in the house this year and trying to get all of us out and off in the very early morning, I am facing reality that it just isn't going to happen! So...again...I'm hopeful come summer...

In the meantime...if anyone else is interested in taking the lead...let me know/have at it! Otherwise, I'm thinking I could ask SP to delete the team?

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I'm closer to my goal today than I was yesterday!

Hey folks,
How is it going here? Is anyone still working the program? I have had best intentions and tried a couple times to re-start this summer...both times failing miserably.

Please tell me someone else is having more success!!!! lol

I am 1:2. A friend I haven't seen in 25 years called me out of the blue and we spent the day together. I was so cool to catch up, but my exercise time was cut way down and my eating way up. Oh well, I'll try to do two tomorrow.

emoticon ladies!

I'm 2 for 2 so far. Spark time may be somewhat limited this week - lots of end of year stuff at school and things here at home cutting into my spark time, but I'm on track! Let's keep it going!!!

(Eating has been baaaaad, however...ugh! Pizza Sunday, out to dinner last night - WITH french fries...AND extra helpings of dinner tonight! EEK. Turning it around RIGHT NOW!)

I'm closer to my goal today than I was yesterday!

Sounds like a good plan. Though I don't follow the food plan that's in the book, I do enjoy all the inspirational stories.

I'm going to keep going with week 2, Day one tomorrow. LOVE Sundays - Day off emoticon

Good for you! I confess, this morning was the first morning I almost blew it off completely...but I knew what a slippery slope that would lead to and pushed through, starting a new round. I'm on to round 5 now and had been on quite a roll, but am starting to struggle with motivation. Please feel free to send kicks in the behind this way!

Yessireee...got mine in as soon as I woke up. If I don't do it then, I wont get it done at all. It took some time to get myself to do it (I am so NOT a morning person!) but it's gotten easier with consistency.

As for you - keep the streak going! Your rest day is Friday, right? Make it 'til then! YOU CAN DO IT! Can't wait to hear your first week's results!

Another 28 day cycle complete.
Wow! I'm very pleased with my results. This cycle I'm down a total of 7.4!

Going for another round and have the heavier weights for when I feel I'm ready. Some of the exercises definitely have more an impact than others, but even the days with the ones that don't feel like I'm 'doing anything'...I tell myself it's also working on my mental game and I'm working to create a healthy habit.

My weekly check in. Down another 1.4. Just got in from Walmart. I bought some 10 lb dumb bells so I'll be ready with heavier weights if I need them when I go the next round! Though I miss my slow wake ups on the couch, I like the progress I'm seeing more!

I TOTALLY get it. I took me a very, very long time to wrap my brain around the thought of ST, longer to consider it, and even longer to begin. Kudos to you for jumping in and giving it a go! Best wishes with your cardio and I hope the school year is going well.

I'll still likely post to keep the group active...and in hopes that I'll get some company at some point. I'll be here when you're ready to give it a go again. (o: (At least that's my plan!)

I've decided that for now I'm going to stick to getting my cardio exercises in and pick up resistance training (like 8 mins in the morning) at a later time.

I'm very glad you've been able to do so well on this program and I hope you continue with it. Maybe someday in the future I'll test this program out, but not right now. All the best! emoticon

Just a weekly check in. Week 2 (second cycle through the program) Down 1.8 this week, for a total of 4 lbs so far in this round. My cardio exercise time (jogging) has been cut back because of the start of school, but I'm still being consistent with my 8 min. routine. I CAN do this! (o:

We just changed our 'specials' or 'related arts' from one librarian and one computer teacher to hiring a library/technology teacher. Seems to be the way the field is going. Good luck with your classes!

As for 8 min. Don't be sad! This whole weight-loss/get-fit journey is 99% mental. If you're feeling overwhelmed and need to get your ducks in a row, then all you're doing is setting yourself up for disappointment when it comes to this stuff, which is NOT what you want! (See, you're feeling sad!)

We beat ourselves up too much. We've experienced ENOUGH disappointment and sadness about our weight/fitness/whatever!!! (Otherwise, would we even be on this site?) Just make a promise to yourself that you're NOT quitting/giving up, you're getting yourself together while school starts (and squeeze in your walk/jog when you can). When you're in a routine and feeling ready to tackle a bit more, be it 8 min, or something else, choose something realistic and attainable. You'll get there when you're ready, and only you know when that will be. (o:

Hope to see you in the future! And best of luck to you!!!

My major is library technology. I would love to work in a library. I've always had a special place in my heart for the written word.

Thanks for being so understanding. I feel sad that I had to stop my 28 days early, but I'm hoping that by spending a little time getting myself together will help me when I attempt it again.

Best of luck! emoticon

Thanks for the kind words.

And ugh...so sorry to hear it's been a bumpy beginning of the year for you. What is your major at school? I do know what you mean about how hard it can be getting the classes you want/need. I just finished up my masters in December. Thank GOD that is over and done with. It was a LONG 3 1/2 years. I feel your pain.

Don't beat yourself up if you need to take some time off. Feel things out, get used to your classes, and if you can squeeze in your walk/jog -great. (Good for you for getting some in this week!) But it sounds like you're wise to try to get yourself into a groove. And if once you're feeling better about school and your schedule, give the 8 min another shot. Check back if/when you do. I'll be here! At least through this next 28 day cycle. (o: And hey - congrats on the -.2!!! It's the right direction!

Best of luck with the beginning of the semester!

Congratulations! You seem to be doing very well on this program. Keep it up!

I started off the week well, but stress from getting classes really messed me up. It's very difficult to get college classes nowadays. Anyway, I ended up missing three days of my 8 mins. I did manage to walk/jog twice and go hiking once, but it wasn't as much as usual. I was nervous as hell when I weighed in today. However, the scale said I lost 0.2 lbs. I'm not sure how I didn't gain, but I take that as a stay of execution and do better this week.

I think I might take a week off the 8 mins program, get myself used to my new schedule and then start it up again next week. I think trying to balance everything might make me go crazy.

Hey there! So how'd your first week go? I managed to get my 8 min in all week. It was tough; I'm sacrificing my 15 min morning wake up time on the couch, but I keep telling myself that we ALL get the same 24 hours in a day. It's what we choose to do with those 24 hours that makes the difference. I do worry that now that it's more challenging, that I'll slip up and skip, which will lead to another, then get me off track. It will be so easy to do. However, I'm pushing myself one morning at a time. It's all we can do, right?

At least I had some good news this morning. I finally broke the 50 lbs lost point. Took over a year, but I did it! I still have a way to go, but I'm going to take today to just enjoy how far I've come.

Hope you had a great week!

It is tough - but we can do anything we set our minds to!

Thanks for the kind words. Heading back to school and seeing folks I haven't seen in several months - many people have noticed/commented on my weight loss. It's just noticeable now. Having so much weight to lose, to me, it seems I need to get almost to my halfway point for it to become physically noticeable. It's taken almost a year to get here, but it's nice to finally feel like there are results from my hard work.

This 8 min thing with school going is killing me. I'm exhausted!

So far, I've been able to get the 8 mins in, but it hasn't been easy for me either.

I read about your results on your first 28 days. Congratulations! You did wonderfully.

A quick check in.

Though it's been Migh-ty early, I've gotten my 8 min in the morning in the last two days. I hope to continue...but admit, I'm exhausted. Hopefully once I'm in a routine it will get a little easier.

Hope all is going well with you!

YAY! I'm glad you decided to keep me company. Way to go getting your 8 min and walk/jog in right off the bat!!!

Weekly is fine. Whatever works best for you. With school starting next week I will be struggling with finding the time to log in, too.

I have the box checked to have an email sent when there's a reply on the topic, so I'll know if there's activity here.

Not sure if I'll be posting weekly or daily, will have to see how my new schedule works out, but I am going to make a concerted effort to log into SP daily to keep my streak going and to spin the sparkwheel to get my daily points. (I'm such a dork!)

It's my day off - I re-start tomorrow. Go us!

Well, after checking out some other options I decided to try the original 8 Minutes in the Morning program. However, to make my life easier I'll give you a weekly update rather than a daily one. If you are having any problems let me know and I'll be there to cheer you on.

I already did the first one today and then went for my walk/jog, so at least I'm starting off my week right. Have an amazing week! Good luck!

Today is your last day! Woo Hoo! Congrats on getting through 28 days! THAT is an accomplishment!

I read your blog. I'm sorry things haven't gone as well as you'd hoped, but it sounds like you have a good understanding as to why. What we eat plays a huge role as well. I think you're smart to PLAN what you're going to eat for the day, then check it off as you go along - and stick to it! If you get hungry and you've already eaten what's on your plan, go for the veggies! I don't use the food/nutrition tracker on this site (though I did five years ago) but I'd be happy to share what I'm eating if you're interested.

Take a minute, though, and think about what you've accomplished. You COMPLETED something to try to improve your health! YOU CAN DO THIS! That is worth celebrating! A step closer to your goals!

I pose the following challenge. Take a few days off. Work on creating a basic meal plan, either using the spark website or whatever source you choose - or make one on your own then enter it into spark to check the calories/serving sizes. THEN...starting Monday join me on the old 8 min. Even if some of the exercises are too difficult, muddle through them the best you can. You CAN do it.

It's hard because after the first couple of weeks it's such a slow process. For me - I know I'm impatient and want instant results. But it doesn't work that way. It took me a year to lose 40 lbs. I'm at the point now where I'm psyched if I can lose 5lbs in a month, though sometimes it takes TWO months to lose 5lbs! When I get discouraged and want to quit it boils down to two options for me:

1. Give up - and no change will happen, or worse, I'll gain more weight. There is no chance for improvement or positive changes.

2. Keep pushing through and eventually some of these efforts will begin to show. It may take what seems like forever, but if I stick with it, EVENTUALLY it will make a difference.

Which do you want to do? (o:

I'm going to do my 8 mins just before I go hiking today, which will be around 3-4 pm. I've got one more day and then I'll have finished the 28 days.

I had trouble with several of them, push ups included. The pushups only 'appear' twice in the 28 days. I attempted them the best I could, but I still cannot do a push up correctly. I'd start in the position with my arms straight (rather than on the ground to push up) and go down a little bit (not to the floor) and push back up. I was probably only moving a few inches, but it was hard! I did my best - and maybe in a few more rounds I'll actually be able to do one! (I'm doubtful! haha!) But for my goofy attempts at doing them, I DID feel some delayed onset muscle soreness the next day, so it had to be working a little bit.
