I think that my favorite part of this episode is when Mel regenerated into the River we know. Watching her go around like the Doctor, checking out her hair and figure, I can't imagine how much fun Alex Kingston had with that! I also love the fact that they have brought back the fact that there were other people before Amy and Rory! Finally! I about had a kiniption when Rose appeared on the screen! At first, I thought she was real, and I was like "How the heck did they get Billie Piper to come back?!" However, we do know that the Doctor is going to really be battling his internal demons this last half of the season, and I think that the bit of guilt that we saw with these three previous companions is just the tip of the iceberg. Is it selfish to want to see a bit more of them like this? I'm just glad that they finally acknowledged some people before 11.

Ok, now I'm showing my age, but did anyone here used to be an XFiles fan? Well, there were the regular episodes of freaky happenings, and then there were the "Smoking Man Episodes", so called because the Smoking Man was in them or it was related to the Smoking Man conspiracy. I remember every episode hoping (BNL reference to follow) that "the Smoking Man's in this one" and being disappointed when it was just some crazy alien or other weirdness episode.
That said, I feel the opposite about the baby conspiracy. I liked it better when it was sprinkled into other weird episodes. I think that is what they were trying to do with this episode, but the River plot got carried away and the Hitler plot was just steamrolled.

Oh you're right! I hadn't thought of it, but Rory was in danger of being Mickey 2.0 (or was there really a Micky--since old Docs and companions seem forgotten? lol). The difference is that unlike Rose, Amy really does love Rory.
I can't wait for the episode with Craig. The Lodger was a favorite episode of mine (surprise to me since I'm not a Matt Smith fan), and I loved Craig. Either he or Rory would make fantastic companions.

I actually love Amy... and have ended up loving Rory although I thought he was just going to be Micky 2.0 when he started out. That said, I'm ready for more high adventure and a move away from the serial episodes for awhile. I want cool aliens and weird planets that are NOT at at all like Earth... and that's a complaint I have with both Moff and RTD. More variety in times and settings, please, boys! :)

Oh yay! I'm not alone. Thought I was the only one that couldn't stand Amy. Is it just me or does she hold her head and talk like she's stoned half the time? The only nice thing I can say about her is FANTASTIC hair. lol While this doctor is growing on me (but will NEVER be 10), Amy still grates on my nerves.
I definitely want more back in time, future, other world adventures and put the baby story on hold.

ROFL! I'm actually agreeing with you! I may be the only one who doesn't like Amy in this whole team but I'm still sticking by that! I never liked Amy's character and I also agree that I want more stand alone eps. I want to see the future and the past and be done with the River storyline (although I LOVE River's character). I'm hoping they leave it for a bit now and revisit it later on at some point, maybe just an ep where she comes in to help out, not to have even more soap opera stuff going on. Does that make sense?

I loved the hologram part because it was the first time any of the other companions have been mentioned/acknowledged with DW11.
It's as though Moffat is attempting to eliminate any remnant of the others--at least until this episode. I love references to previous episodes and incarnations and companions--it's like a nifty "inside joke."
I get why it was called "Let's Kill Hitler" since that was Mels "battlecry." However, beyond Rory's astonishment that he was putting Hitler in a cupboard, I wasn't that impressed with the episode. I do love Rory.
I guess overall, I'm not loving the whole Amy's kid storyline. Too much like a soap opera. I want to get back to mostly unconnected adventures with teasers to previous events and even future ones. The next one looks promising--though I already hate creepy dolls. :o)
I think Moffat is also overusing the re-generation element. It no longer has the wow-factor.
Much like the last episode, my post is a bit disjointed as well. Off to workout!
Wish they'd kill Amy off and keep Rory around. He cracks me up. Of course, Mopey Mourning Rory might not be as entertaining.

For sure I still had fun! I liked when all the characters came to him as holograms and he was all, no, no, no, guilt guilt guilt. It was sad but also kinda funny.

I agree about the Hitler plotline. Why name the episode after someone who is there for less than 5 minutes and who is completely irrelevant to the story? Other than that I liked it. Very confusing in true Moffat style, but that's what makes me watch it over and over so I don't miss anything.

I really enjoyed it, actually... though I admit that I was sorry to see Hitler not actually being followed up with. Very odd, that. You can always remedy things with the boyfriend by grabbing Nine's season and starting him off right ;) This definitely wasn't an accessible ep for someone who doesn't know the series and what's happened thus far this season. Too many blanks to fill in otherwise. Is this one of my favorites ever? Nah. But I did have fun with it, and I'm looking forward to how excellently creepy the next episode looks!

I'm surprised no one's talked about the new episode yet. Thoughts? Reactions?
I'll admit, I was actually a tad bit disappointed. I finally got my boyfriend to watch Who with me and, for a newcomer, it was extremely confusing. Also, the whole Hitler plot-line was just dropped. Very disjointed episode.
