The part that got me the most - "John Smith" IS the Doctor, but at the same time, David Tennant was playing a completely different character. It really showed his acting ability.
Oh my. I just saw The Family of Blood episodes last night and the night before. Some of my favorites so far. I must preface this by saying, I am a HUGE 10 fan...like there's my husband and there's David Tennant. I told my husband last night at the beginning of the second episode to be prepared for my to cry--not like with Rose, but because I knew that he was going to have to give up John Smith and it would break my heart. When he said the line about, "Falling in love never occurred to him!? What sort of man is that?", it did just that. Some of Tennant's finest acting. And YES! When the son said he was being kind...wow. I LOVE this show!!!

Agreed, these were some of my favorite episodes as well. What really got me was the "He was being kind" part at the end - that's some horrible, yet wonderful pain.

Loved The Empty Child................"Are you my mummy?".
Sorry it is better when I say it because I am English.
Gosh I have been watching Dr. Who since I was a child and was so happy to see it here in the USA. I have to say that I miss Rose but I am really getting into this new stuff real quick. Love that darkness about them!!

No foods with high fructose corn syrup, sugar, rice syrup, corn syrup, fructose, sucrose etc. in the first three ingredients.
No foods that have more than 3 ingredients that I can not pronounce.
If an item has more than 10 ingredients it is too processed, I will not eat or buy the item.
I agree. It was a very good, moving two-parter. Great drama that made the Sci-Fi secondary to a very "human" story. Which is what good Sci-Fi really does!

Wow! Okay, now I'm impressed. Those are probably the best two eps I've seen on
the show since season one. They're not quite up there with Empty Child/The
Doctor Dances... but they're damned good. I really am pleased.
The supporting cast was all strong, though I give particular props to the nicely
creepy person playing the son in the Family of Blood - that could've been goofy
pretty easily, but he did an excellent job.
I also have to say that this is easily the strongest performance I've seen from
Tennant. I would've thought that the romance and the inevitable dissolution of
it would have been too cliche to get to me at all. But y'know what? It was
sweet. It was affecting. I really felt BAD for him. I got involved emotionally
in a way I haven't with Tennant thus far, and that's a wonderful thing.
The story was interesting, the villains and their scarecrow army were creepy,
the writing was good, the guest acting was good, the Doctor was good... yay!
