Noticed this blog about someone who has faced the soda-pop demon and conquered it! I used to be a soda junkie. Now I'll have a soda once in a blue moon and I can't remember the last time I had one. Love those NSVs!

Move forward, shed the limitations, shed the weight!

I don't know where NoMoreStalling comes up with this stuff, but her blogs are Fantastic! Check this one out if you need motivation:

How to Climb Success Mountain
Monday, June 08, 2009

According to the males of our species there are only three real sports: bull-fighting, car racing and mountain climbing. All the others are mere games.

Imagine success as a mountain. Wouldn't you want to get to the top? Naturally. In fact, we spend endless hours and countless dollars in pursuit of success. Whether, it is the desire for more money, advance in career, achieving fame, losing weight, finding romance or endless other wants, we are eager to find our way there. So how do we get there?

There must be a specific way that we just don't know. So we buy books, audios, videos, attend lectures, workshops and more. Last years Secret gives way to the new trend that everyone is talking about today. Yet trend after trend we still don't seem to get to the top of Success Mountain. Yet something must work because we see others arrive.

If you imagine success as a mountain, the only way to get to the top is to climb. All the trends out there offer solutions that tell us to avoid the climb. The truth is there are no elevators, escalators or even stairs.

Just because there are no short cuts, doesn't mean that there are not things you can learn about climbing. So, instead of trying to learn how to avoid the climb, take climbing lessons. That is exactly what we need to focus on--the basics of climbing. Then we have to be willing to get into action and climb.

Attitude: Climbing Success Mountain starts with your attitude. Start by giving up your instant gratification needs and dedicate yourself to working towards the results you want.

Be Present: Stop focusing on the top of the mountain. Sure we all want to be there, but when climbing you have to pay attention to where you are and understand what your immediate next steps are going to be. A climber not focused can misstep and fall or climb their way into a dead end with nowhere to go.

Can Do: Believe and have confidence in yourself. Develop a "Can Do" frame of mind.

Deal: When climbing you will slip back at times, you will encounter obstacles and it will not always be easy. Deal with it and keep finding solutions and ways to get back on track.

Effort: Climbing takes effort. Climbing to the top demands strength, whether it is to the top of Mount Everest or to the top of your career. -Abdul Kalam

Fun: Have fun while you are climbing. I've learned that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it. -B. Bancard

I could go through the entire alphabet with different parts of the climbing lesson: enough to fill a book. Instead today let me make it simple. When it comes down to it, success is about your will to be successful. It takes patience, time, consistency, pain, setbacks, you will encounter many obstacles and in the end, do you have the will to keep at it? Do you really want success?

In the end it will always come down to you. It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.
- Sir Edmund Hillary

Even when you do everything right and you have made it up 90% of the mountain, it doesn't get easier, it gets harder. When attempting to climb Mount Everest it is the last 10% that is the most dangerous. Why? After climbing 90% you have used all your energy, the peak is the steepest and the air the thinnest. When you are there you will have to dig into yourself and pull out your will for success.

Success does not come quick or easy, however we all have the ability to climb Success Mountain if we learn how to climb and we have the will to succeed. Get ready to start climbing and climb step by step. Right now, follow the first six steps ABCDEF and you will be on your way! We'll cover the rest of the alphabet, and get to the top of Success Mountain together.

"Life is too short to waste. Dreams are fulfilled only through action, not through endless planning to take action."
David J. Schwartz
Trainer and Author

(I've worked so long with southerners that I've taken on some of their lovely ways.)

In the South, that endless planning is known as "fixin' to"....as in....
I'm FIXIN' TO start exercising more!
I'm FIXIN' TO start eating healthier!
I'm FIXIN' TO loose some weight!
I'm FIXIN' TO be healthier...one of these days...
Yep....I'm FIXIN' TO get busy!! Just watch me! Yep! Just watch me!

Only trouble with FIXIN' TO is that a lot of it is just endless planning with no action! You do need to plan, but a plan without action is totally useless! You can fill a car with gas, but if you don't take some ACTION and turn on the ignition to START the car, then put it in drive and step on the gas, you won't go anywhere!

Plan your work and then work your plan!!

Don't be a FIXIN' TO kind-of-person! Be an I-DID-IT Kind instead!!

Be Proud of Any Success!

There's no such thing as mindless weight loss. You can't sleep off the pounds or take a miracle pill that burns fat. Losing weight is about making the right choices, every single day, in a variety of different situations. But even if you see the pounds coming off slowly, that doesn't mean you should throw in the towel. this journey may be slow going sometimes, but every milestone counts!

"Many of us are losing between one and two pounds, and we all sound the same... just one pound but its okay since we're heading in the right direction, wish it were more, only 2, etc. What I want to say is that the one and two pound losses are AWESOME!!! They are not something to just 'accept' or 'wish that it were better... Slow and steady wins this race people! And we need to be HAPPY with those 1 and 2 pound losses... no not just happy, but HAPPY!!
I think when we see those HUGE losses on programs like The Biggest Loser, we think that we should be pulling bigger numbers ourselves, but NONE of us are able to work out, sleep, eat, work out, eat, sleep, and work out some more. We are living in the real world with families, jobs, and activities. It is not an excuse! But getting one really good workout in per day, eating healthy, and working at obtaining a doable calorie deficit that you can be happy with and make a new healthy habit, is something to be proud of... remember, a 1,000 calorie deficit each day for one week equals 2 pounds and the end of the week. So those 1 and 2 pounders have to be celebrated. I am guilty of it myself... 'just 1 lb, but I at least it is in the right direction'... instead it should be 'YIPPY!! I lost ANOTHER pound this week!!'

A half pound, 1 lb, 2 lbs are success, and so anyone who achieves these smaller losses in a weeks time are successful too! I just want us to celebrate being a success no matter how small the loss may be.

So CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who lost pounds this week... keep up the good work and pat yourself on the back yes, even if it were a pound, do it! Pat yourself on the back and tell yourself that YOU are a success!!"

This fine fellow, Ernest started his weight loss journey weighing more than 550 pounds. He is presently in the 300's thanks in part to his love for riding his bicycle. Like me, he considered weight loss surgery but decided not to go that route. Despite some health issues he continues to fight the fight and is doing great!

Don't know how many of you read blogs, but you can find the most amazing things. It's hard to keep up with them so I'm starting this topic for posting BLOG links to make it easier for you to find the most terrific blogs. Anyone who spots an outstanding blog should post a link here for the rest of us to benefit from. The blog can be exception because it contains information like a product/food/recipe/fitness video review. Or it might stand out because it presents a new way of looking at a specific problem (like plateaus, for example). Or maybe it's just plain motivational. When you post your link, be sure to tell us why you like it.

Here's a link to a new Sparker's blog. She's only been here a couple of days and, already, she's learning about making fitness fun and taking baby steps. Hope you enjoy!

(To share a link, first highlight the blog's URL in your browser and COPY; then click the ADD A LINK button ..top middle button on the message...PASTE in the URL and ENTER... viola, the link is there for all to click on)
