this week's weigh in went better than I hoped for - - 208. My next mini-goals was to get under the 210 level and I have reached that goal!! Now I am looking forward to getting under 200.

Hey FaithInJesus, I see you are doing quite well also!! Kudos to you !!! after composing a nice, long response and ready to send it, I found my laptop totally froze up on me and apparently it didn;t go thru. I will try to re-write it as best as I can.
I came down with an intestinal bug around noon on Wed, and ended up in bed from 6 pm til late afternoon the next day. I was unable to go to my regular weigh-in appointment so didn't get a weight loss for this past week. Even still, my counselor, knowing that I have been doing quite well, went ahead and logged in 2/10th of a lb, knowing that it was probably much better than that. Unfortunately I will have to wait a full week til next weigh-in to find out what I weigh since I rarely peek at the scales mid-week. I hate seeing my body fluctuate. It drives me crazy!! After I was able to sit up and start taking nurishment again, I peeked anyway and could see I was down about 5.5 lbs, but I know that isn't an accurate weight. Just makes me curious to see what next week's weigh in will be.
Oh, BTW, thanks for the info on your calorie burn monitor thingy. I have wondered about them but just not sure that I am ready to drop that much cash on something like that right now. We have recently had our son, his wife and 2 girls, ages 6 and almost 2, come to live with us after he was laid off from his job in the oil fields in ND. It has been interesting but VERY stressful to make the changes needed to add 4 more people into our home. I appreciate all prayers for God's patience and discernment and wisdom during this time.
Gotta go, have a busy day tomorrow, hugs, Cheryl

Good Morning ~

Down 4 pounds this week!

4/1/15 ~ 216
4/6/15 ~ 212 (-4)
4/10/15 ~ 212 (-0)
4/17/15 ~ 208 (-4)

Hi Cheryl! I have been thinking of you :) Great job on your weight loss!!! emoticon I really love my heart rate monitor for tracking calories. I bought a Polar FT4. I got it from Big 5 for $89, but you can get them on Amazon for about $60. It comes with a strap that goes across your chest so it can keep an accurate heart rate and accurate record of the calories you burn. It is also water proof so you can use it for swimming workouts!

I am trying to burn 3500 calories a week from workouts. And then I am trying to go under my calorie intake needed for regular everyday activity by 500, which is total of calorie deficit 3500 per week. Every 3500 calorie deficit is 1 pound, so by doing this I am aiming to create a calorie deficit of 7000 per week to lose 2 pounds a week - 1 pound through exercise and 1 pound through nutrition. Does that sound confusing??? You may be familiar with all of this already. If not you can click on this link http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculat
or/ and it will give you info on how to calculate what your body uses for fuel each day. Find your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) which is how many calories your body would use if you just stayed in bed all day. Then under the result you find on that page, there is a blue link for "Harris Benedict Equation" which will give you an equation to use to find out about how many calories you body needs each day depending on your activity level. I use the lightly active equation and go under the calories result by 500 for my calorie intake each day to create a deficit of 3500 for nutrition per week and then try to burn another 3500 per week by exercise. This should create a total deficit of 7000 making a 2 pound loss each week.

Years ago I lost 80 pounds by doing this. Then 5 years ago life side swiped me and I stopped working out and eating healthy and I have gained most of it back over the years :( I am doing it again this time using the same method because it worked for me before. Hopefully all this info didn't overwhelm you! It is actually easier than it sounds. It is basically just knowing how many calories your body needs each day so that you can adjust how much you eat and how much you work out to lose weight. The main thing is to create a healthy lifestyle, eating good foods to fuel our bodies through workouts that make us stronger. Losing weight is the result of treating our bodies well. Just thought I would share this info with you because you had asked about me tracking calories burned and this is why I use the heart rate monitor. Remember to do whatever works for you, this is just what has worked for me. Have a great day! God bless you :) emoticon

hey Faith, let me know how well using the tracking of your burned calories works. I have wondered about them but haven't tried it as yet. A Full House is indeed a huge challenge but also very rewarding. Just asking for alot of prayer for patience. LOL
As for this morning's weigh in, I was pleasantly surprised. Down to 211.8, a loss of 1.2 lbs for the week, making it a total on program - 11.2 lbs. so far. Hugs, Cheryl

4/10/15 ~ 212 lb (-0)

Hi everyone :) Didn't get a chance to enter my weight in yesterday. I am at 212 lb which is the same as my weight on Monday. Hope to see that scale move next week! Now that I will be weighing in on Fridays, I will get to see a full 7 days between weigh ins. My husband bought me a heart rate monitor on Thursday so I hope to be able to keep track of my calorie burn more accurately this next week.

Great job Cheryl! I wish I would have had one pound :) I had no weight loss since Monday, but like you said ~ slow and steady. Enjoy your last few days of alone time, and then enjoy the full house. Always something to be thankful for, no matter what the situation. God Bless!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend, keep up the hard work :)

Thank you FaithinJesus, for your comment and prayers. Our son took his 2 girls up to TN to visit his wife and her family for a few days and hasn't returned yet, hopefully Friday or Saturday. Still child proofing the house... LOL. As for my weigh in today, I lost 1 lb. Makes a total of 10 in 7 weeks. Not bad since Dr. Phil's weight loss program called me Weight Loss Resistant. Slow and steady wins the race, right?? emoticon

4/6/15 ~ 212 lb

Down 4 pounds this past week.

Hi everybody ~

I just started getting back into a healthy lifestyle a few weeks ago. Last week I completely cleaned up my nutrition, restocked my fridge and cupboards with clean eating foods. This last week was all about diet change and I did not workout at all. I lost 4 pounds by nutrition alone. Yesterday was the start of a new week and I went back to the gym to now get my body moving. I am going light this week to get myself back in the routine of working out. Next week will hit it a little harder and gradually increase intensity as I go. For now, 4 pounds down and feeling the difference of healthy eating! Sore today... yesterday was my first workout and I hope to see a 2 pound loss next week. Hope everyone has a wonderful day :)

Hi Cheryl ~ Don't beat yourself up, pick yourself and keep moving. You can do this. I am sorry to hear of your son's situation. Although having another family in your home wasn't something you expected, sometimes God's plans are different from our own. But there is a reason for it if He is allowing it, so enjoy it and expect the reason to unfold before your eyes. Sometimes blessings come wrapped in trials! I will pray for you and your family that He may fill you with His peace... and patience :) Have a wonderful day emoticon

well, I had a little set back yesterday at weigh in. I was hoping for another small loss or even just to maintain, but I gained a little. 6/10th of a lb. Back to 214. But instead of going crazy, looking for the why, I am shrugging it off and looking forward to doing everything I can during this next week to get back to weigh losses. Still, 9 lb in 6 weeks isn't really tooo bad, now is it?? But I am facing a major upheavel in my hubby's and my lives. Our son was laid off his job in the ND oilfields and has asked if he can bring his 2 little girls home to live with us. Of course we said yes, and my mind has not stopped running all sorts of ideas on how to adapt the spare and office rooms to accommodate them. Not sure just how soon he and his 6 yr old and almost 2 yr old daughters will arrive. But it will be fun to have them here no matter how much we have to adapt to make room. Just pray for us that we make Godly decisions regarding this change in our lives.

Hello everyone ~ I would love to weigh in with you guys each week. I rejoined Spark yesterday after being away a few years. I almost reached my goal about 5 years ago, but got sidetracked and now here I am again starting over. But that is okay. I can do this.... I weighed in yesterday at 216. We will see what next week brings! Hope everyone is having a good day. God Bless You All! emoticon

Finished week 5 of our new program of diet and exercise - I have managed to take off another 3.4 lbs, a total of 9.6 lbs so far. My hubby has lost over 18. Yipppeee!!! Waiting to see resullts in my clothes but to do that, I expect I will need at least another 8 lbs off before I or anyone else sees that kind of results. At least it is coming off. emoticon

the end of week three and the weigh in didn't go as well as I would have liked, but at least it was another loss - down to 219, a loss of another 6/10th of a pound, Making a total of 4 lbs for the 3 weeks. My dear hubby has lost 12 lbs in this same time frame. I am sooo happy for him!! It won't be long before his losses are noticable, but it will be alot longer for me at this rate.At least I am losing, just frustrated that it is sooo slow.

ok, finished the second week in our new program. Of Course, my husband is losing great so far, a total of almost 9 lbs so far in only the 2 weeks. I lost a total of 3.4 last week and another .2 lbs this week. I am sooo glad I had even this little loss because I was soo sure that I would have only maintained or even gained a little after the first week's great loss. In the past, that is what normally happened. We are staying on track with only a couple small changes to see how we manage it, but I am hopeful!!! So I am down to 219.4 YIPPEEE Looking forward to seeing what next week will be.

Yippee!!!!! I'm soo excited!! and I just can't hide it!!! I weighed in yesterday and for the first time in almost 10 years, saw a number under 220. 219,75 YEAH!!! Now I know me, and I tend to fluctuate anywhere around 2 - 3 lbs, so I probably won't stay there and not go back up into the 220's but at least I saw new numbers. I will really dance when I Stay under the 220 mark. Hugs, from Cheryl

I can do all things through Christ Jesus, who strengthens me! (Phil 4:13)

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith (Mark 11:23) [This MOUNTAIN of weight IS going to GO!]

179.6 I keep hovering around the 180 mark.... can't seem to break through. Giving this over to God. I can't do it on my own!
