I buy it ground at the store (Bob's Red Mill). You need to keep it in the fridge since it goes rancid fast.

Here is the link to an SP article on Flaxseed:

Do you buy it already ground or do you ground it yourself? I'm not sure if I will even find it both ways but if I do which should I buy? I have magic bullet and a coffee grinder which I've heard both work well to grind the whole flax seeds. Is either one better?

I use flaxmeal almost daily in one food or another. I had flaxmeal pancakes for breakfast today.

Awesome, then I will make those tomorrow so I can try them before I go. I have everything except the flax meal, this will be my first flax meal experience!

I make the chocolate flaxseed muffins every week. They are great.

I forgot to say thanks for the tips so far. I don't think I would be motivated enough to keep going on with the diet with out the support of these groups. Also all the tips and recipes make it almost too easy not to keep at it, not that dieting is ever all that easy but with these groups it sure is a big difference then going it alone.

The more I think about it the more I realize this going out of town thing is not going to be so bad. I will mostly have the place to myself with the hubby so there wont be the usual people eating pizza or hamburgers right in front of me until dinner but then I can order delicious salads so it wont be so bad :)

I can do this!!!

I should have been more specific about the muffins, I don't want to buy any muffins but I want to make the ones I saw that said they were okay for phase 1..I'm guessing these are more fiber and less starch..at least I'm hoping. The whole grain bread I'm going to take for my husband so he's not trying to talk me into picking up fast food.

So the muffins I was thinking were:
Flaxmeal Cinnamon Muffins
Chocolate Flaxseed Muffins
or
Flax Meal Peanut Butter Hot Cereal
protein bars (the ones with pb and cream cheese)

Those recipes all look yummy but I was wondering how they will hold up in an ice chest. I have never had flax seeds but I could use the fiber since I don't like beans.

I would make the muffins. On my last few trips out of town, I have taken a package of flaxseed meal and a container for chunky peanut butter along for breakfast Check the breakfast recipes). All you need is hot water for a healthy breakfast. Eating out for lunch and dinner is easier since you can stick to salads.

For breakfast I take nuts, yogurt (in a small cooler with chopped veggies and string cheese), and dry cereal. If you'll be eating starches at lunch (sandwiches) and maybe at supper, too, you should probably skip cereal or muffins at breakfast.

Here's my dilemma, I'm going out of town in a few days and I want to pack a suit case with foods so I can stick to SB as much as possible. I'm thinking we may be dining out for dinner in which case I will try to stick to salads or protein + veggies but as far as breakfast/lunch and snacks I want to be prepared.

I just started phase 2 on Thursday and have gotten completely off track which is soooo not helping with the temptations I will be facing. I'm going to get back on phase 1 for the next few days in order to help with the cravings again and hopefully make up for the few bad days and then when I'm out of town I will allow a few P2 foods.

Any idea's of foods I can make in a batch that will hold up in a ice chest for about 3 hours?? I haven't tried any of the muffins, would any of these be a good idea? I would rather not bring eggs or milk so if I could have something already made for breakfast that would help.

I plan to take the following for snacks/meals:
cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes + ranch dip
celery or apples with peanut butter
plain lf yogurt
string cheese + deli turkey
spinach for salads
whole grain bread for sandwiches

I think just writing this all down made me feel better lol and made me think I should have all this stuff ready on a regular basis :)

So my biggest question is breakfast..muffins??
