I was injured 40 years ago, and osteoarthritis set in. I was also diagnosed to be in a wheelchair by the time I was 45! I'm 62 now. I promise you that getting rid of the weight, moderate exercise especially cardio, and strength training will help tremendously. I would definitely talk to my doctor first about where to start. I learned here that the worse thing you can do is not exercise and 2/3s of all those suffering have an exercise program!
If you wear a pedometer, you will find how easy it is to walk 2-4 miles a day.
