I do love smoothies for breakfast, one of my favorites is frozen dark cherries, banana, plain yoghurt, and almond milk. I don't have to add sweetener because is sweet enough.

I have a Zojirushi rice cooker that is also a steamer, I use it to steam veggies often. My oven gets plenty of use,
I bake or grill the meats and fish. Some times I will use the crock pot, or the GF grill,
But what I use the most is my salad spinner, love it.

Hi ladies!. One day for lunch I had some shrimp on a stick. I seasoned them and cooked them on the GF grill. They were so good.

Pam, my GF grill sounds about the same size as your medium one. It easily fits 3 good size burgers (I usually buy them frozen at Sams) and if they cook down a little I can throw a fourth one on.

I love to use Lipton Onion Soup to season things with especiallly my individual steamer bags that I wrote about on the other thread a couple of weeks ago. That's what I had for dinner agian tonight. One of my favorite quick meals!.

Count your blessings!

Fat free chicken broth is my best friend. Good for sauteing in place of oil, adds moisture and flavor for steaming.

WOW!! I need to get over here more. Hi Pam!! Hi Kasey!! Hi Sandy!!

We have a GF and I really like it. DH loves burgers, steak and pork chops done on it. Pretty easy to clean too. But the grills don't come off in mine.

Vicky, what size GF grill did you get? I have 3 different ones, my largest one being about 18 inches square. It fits about 12 burgers on it. It is great when you have company over, but I don't use that one on a daily basis because it is sooo large. Then my smallest one is big enough for about 2 small burgers. I don't use that one very much either because it is so small. I think it was called the Champ. I think my biggest one was called the Indoor/Outdoor grill. Then my medium size one is the one with the removable plates, which we use more often, but I wish it was a little bit larger than it is. It is about 6 inches by 12 inches.

I use a Griddler by Cuisinart (I think). It is much the same as a GF. Removable grills and very easy to clean. Cooks food fast too.

I also use my crock pot often. I like throwing supper in it in the morning and then it cooks all day. This helps because I have more energy in the morning.

Kasey, I don't know what you decided about the George Foreman grill since that has been a couple of weeks ago, but I just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in. I had the small George Foreman and never used it. It was a pain because even just cooking for 2 of us sometimes things didn't fit. I sold it at a yard sale. Then I decided to give it another try for the health benefits of it and bought a larger one. I LOVE IT! I use it often and even though mine does not have the removeable plates, I think it is very easy to clean. While it is warm, I just wipe it with a damp paper towel and everything wipes right off.

Count your blessings!

We have the George Foreman Grill that has the removable grills, so they are very easy to clean, just like you would clean any pans. We have used it quite a lot and love it!

Thanx, Sue! I had a feeling it might end up beside the steamer, lol. Friends gave me the electric one a few years ago, and I thought it would be so handy to put different things in each tier and just let 'er rip. Unfortunately, it's made of (heavy-duty) plastic and nondishwasher safe. I don't like to think of myself as lazy (Heaven forbid, LOL) but Himself will load and unload the dishwasher so I try to use as many 'dishwasherable' things as possible, rather than handwash. My pots 'n' pans that have steamer inserts are all metal, so... they go in the dishwasher. Eh.

One of my resolutions this year is sleek, streamlined, nearly-empty cupboards and wardrobes and closets. Last thing I need is another appliance that I don't have room for, lol...

Kasey, I use an ordinary steamer, stainless steel that goes on the hob, rather than an electric one, just washes like normal pans as that is what it is..lol
My GF grill has been used about 6 times and languishes in a cupboard. It is okay and does the job, but so does the grill on the cooker and no messing about to clean or keep changing the drip trays while cooking. They are tiny and as the fat drips you have to keep swapping them over. Lot easier to line the grill pan with foil and change and wash that, as with GF you have to wipe it down etc as you can't obviously put it in water. Just my opinion, but it went the way of the sandwich maker..lol..relegated to the cupboard.

Sandy: I was considering getting a GF grill. Is it easy to use? easy to clean? I had gotten one of those large multi-level steamers but it's such a nuisance to clean I went back to use my pots 'n' pans with inserts... :-)

go to nuwaveoven.com and you can watch a video about it and order there, or you can also get one at Kohls but you won't get the same offers at Kohls or other retailers that I got online. I got mine with a pizza kit, an extender ring kit, a party mixer, and a twister. You don't get all that in the stores. Let me know what you decide to do. I will be interested in knowing. I use mine quite often and really love it!

Thanks everybody for sharing your different cooking techniques. It is very helpful and I encourage you to continue to share.

I recently purchased the nu wave oven that is seen on infomercials. It is fantastic! It does just what they say that it does. I make chicken in it quite often. I start with frozen chicken breasts, and it cooks on each side for about 13 minutes. It comes out very tender and juicy and no oil was used. In the nu wave, at the same time, I roast frozen vegetables, or fresh veggies and they come out perfectly! I also fix potatoes in it and they, too, come out great! I have also fixed "fries" in it, both potato and sweet potato. You don't have to use oil that way, and they come out crisp and delicious! I highly recommend the nu wave oven!

I try to do that too.

Sometimes with roast and such I will cook them first, let them cool and then skim the fat from it before reheating and serving.

When I cook my veggies, if I don't steam them, I save the broth, freeze it and then when I have enough use it to make veggie soup.

I am reposting this tip from Dore here, thanks Dore

I use left over turkey in place of chicken when I make my soup. I boil a turkey leg to get my broth, strain, let it cool, take the fat off. Reheat and add choice of veggies and either rice or noodles. It is just yummy.

When I bake, I usually substitute plain yogurt or applesauce for oil. When making lasagne, I use low fat cottage cheese instead of ricotta (full disclosure: I'm not Italian!). I also substitute low fat cheese in many dishes. I don't like the non-fat cheese; it doesn't melt or taste like cheese!

If I fry, I use Fry Light in a can which has about 10 cals a squirt, a lot less than oil
