I weighed in on January 1, but I'm just reporting it now. Alas, I had a lot of fun eating for the last week and a half, which ruined my hope for a photo finish.

Final result for me on this challenge: +3 lbs.

Personal Result for the Year 2009: -12 lbs. *sigh* Not where I wanted to be, and 10 lbs heavier than I was at the end of June.

Happy New Year to one and all.

I am officially down 5 lbs. for this challenge. That makes it 21 lbs. for the year. It is slow progress but I am finding it easier to maintain when the losses are slow and small.

Hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Looking forward to your support and encouragement in the coming year as we work together to reach our goals. Put the past behind you and focus on the future. Think of it as a dry run and practice. Now we all know what NOT to do.

See you tomorrow.

My 20 pounds went to 17 pounds lost last year. I allowed myself 5 minutes to pout but now it is time to do something about it. I think I have my "spark" back.

Taking down the tree today. Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon girls,

I am so with you. On Friday we all start a new year and a new focus. I think I will probably finish the year with a 20 lb. loss. Do wish that it was more but I am not going to focus on the negative. Lets make it a good year. emoticon

Have a great New Year everyone.

I think we are all "so" ready to start again. I know I am up in my weight and the exercise is just amounting to some step walking indoors. BUT--I do have a plan.

I too wasted half a year Marcie. Makes me angry but atleast I am down from where I was when I started. What is the flat belly diet Fluf?

We CAN do this!! I keep thinking how much better I felt when I was really on program--and how tired I am again now that I'm not.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello all,

I am in for 2010. Once again I will start again. Hopefully seeing a counselor and changing my antidepressant will kick the year off with a good start. 2009 ended very sadly unfortunately. I will get on the scale on Friday but I am afraid the needle has not moved much (either way) since August. half a year up in smoke. I can't give up because that would mean my death much earlier than it has to be. Small baby step challenges sound good to me. So here we go ladies, down down and off! (my version of up up and away). hang in there ladies we will do this. Love ya Marcie

LOL..I have 3lbs to lose by Friday to be at the same weight as when I started this challenge, lost a lb this morning so am moving the right way now.
I am fired up and really in the mood, had a line dancing dvd for Christmas so I can have more fun with moving, had 15 books for Christmas as well so lots to take my mind off food.

I think if we do short challenges we will stick to it better, but how about we pick something to do for a week,a nd then add to it the 2nd week, for example the first week make sure we have 8 glasses of water, 2nd week keep up water and add 5 freggies a day, 3rd week, add 20 minutes movement etc so we build up and do more and more until it is automatic?
Any ideas please post them and we can start from Friday

hugs

Friday is going to be official start day and that has been my weigh in day anyway.

Hmmm... Sue, I was just thinking that maybe my even years are better than the odd years! GO ALL OF US IN 2010!!

Sorry to hear about all your snow, Sue, but I'm glad your son won't be totally cut off from Christmas festivities. We're getting tons of snow right now--probably the 20 inches Marcie got last weekend. So far we have around 9 inches and the worst is yet to come. White Christmas, my butt! There's a white Christmas, but what you and we have is insane.

Mona, I envy you being ready for Christmas and feeling better. I'm coughing and limping around the house in a desperate attempt to make the house look habitable for this evening. I twisted the ankle on my GOOD leg (idiot!) while trying to keep weight off my bad leg, so I look pretty silly. My son is a huge help, and he's fixed up the basement so that our few guests can stay overnight because of the snow. Lord knows I have enough FOOD to handle being snowed in!
emoticon
It's gonna be FUN! Movies, Wii, "hot beverage bar", food, and probably only 3 people will make it. Party!! I've got out the "Die Hard" movies along with my Christmas selections. Hey, those movies all take place on Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

Pam, I AM 4lbs up on the challenge..and 3lbs up on the year,BUT 2010 is going to be my year the same as 2008 was. Maybe I do better in even years..lol

Have a wonderful time and hope you can see or speak to family. We may not see our youngest son, wife and grandaughter as we had more snow last night and their tiny village in the middle of nowhere is cut off, luckily power is still on and dil mum lives a 5 minute walk away on her huge farm and that is where they go for dinner

I hope you've all been doing better on this challenge than I have. Here we are, into the home stretch, and I'll be lucky if on January 1 I don't weigh MORE than I did on August 17. On the plus side, at least it looks like it could be a "photo finish" for me, rather than a runaway defeat!

It is a snowy Monday night. Watching Monday Night Football. That makes me think of you Mona. So sorry that your Florida Gators lost. It was a hard fought game.

Well the Bowls are set. I can't believe that Boise St. is going to play TCU again this year. Just a different Bowl game.

Had a very busy weekend. I was so very surprised to find that I had lost 4.7 lbs. this past week. I have spread that out over three weeks since the scale didn't move for three weeks.

Hope that everyone is feeling better today. Marcie I think it is great that you are doing something for yourself. Getting healthy emotionally is just as important as physically.

Stay focused one and all.

I am thinking that I might need to wear a virtual mask or something since at this point I seem to be the only one NOT sick. While I do hope you all get better, please oh please don't send it my way. Hello all, just a quick pop in to say hi. This cold is getting worse, cough and sore throat worse than ever, now dropping to my chest and feeling very tight and sore, plus still streaming eyes and yukky nose. Can manage about 10 minutes on here before the coughing starts so bad again
keep smiling

OMG! I didn't know that when we talk about "internet viruses" that humans could actualy catch it! Should we call the Guiness Book of Records or the medical board? LOL!

Around here they are calling it "swine flu" or H1N1 Flu. I don't care what you call it, it sucks. I hope everyone feels better by Christmas. I have my first counseling session on Saturday. Feeling guilty for not talking to my mom on Thanksgiving but I just can't handle the drama.Chat later, love ya Marcie

Sue, that sounds EXACTLY like my sore throat! VERY painful throat, fever, then getting laryngitis with some coughing, and then an earache or middle/inner ear problems--dizziness & nausea.

Yes, I've been taking my own advice--not wanting to break my water streak on Sparkpeople is the only thing that had me force down enough fluids. I counted broth, juice, tea... any clear liquid I could choke down. Ibuprofen for the pain & fever and throat lozenges. And trying to get lots of rest. I'm getting there, but I'm rescheduling my dentist appointment that was supposed to be on Thursday.

You take care, Sue! And everyone else! I've added two more people to my Intercontinental Thanksgiving Throat Virus roster.

Hugs,

Pam, I am just getting that and I don't even live on the same continent. Couple of days ago a scratchy throat, which now is raging and very hot in bed last night, despite the coldest night here with thick frost. We don't have heat in our bedroom either as I don't like it on. Feel yukky now, so it must be all over the world this virus.
Hope you feel better soon, keep warm, drink plenty and rest emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon , bowl of chicken soup for you

How are you all doing with healthy lifestyles as we swing into full holiday season?

I picked up some dreaded Thanksgiving virus. I've heard of other Sparkers getting the same thing after Thanksgiving, so I hope nobody HERE did! (Marcie, sounds like you may have gotten it early.) I woke up Saturday morning with a horrible sore throat and I was "warm." Sunday it was worse, more swollen, and I'd upgraded to "fever." Tonight I'm finally starting to feel a bit better--down to "elevated temperature" and I no longer clench my teeth or grip furniture from the pain when I swallow.

As for that healthy lifestyle thing: I was HORRIBLE all Thanksgiving week and ate everything in sight. It was as if I'd flicked a switch that said "Holiday Mode," and I couldn't muster any motivation to turn it off again. Monday I got on the scale, braced for a 6-lb gain, telling myself that all but 2-3 lbs of that weight should be water weight gain. And what did the scale say? That I weighed the same! HUH? NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING; I just don't understand. I'd been having juice and salty broth soups for two days so I didn't expect to lose water weight. Bodies are so weird.

Good afternoon all,

Watching Mona's Gator ball game. I get to watch all the important games as Boise State plays generally on Fridays. They won and now I can cheer on other teams.

Staying inside to get warm.

Everyone take care of yourselves. It you are not feeling well be sure to get the rest that you need. Drink plenty of fluids.

Have a great weekend.

Good morning

We called the man who installed the heat pump and he is coming over. It is 73 in the house with the fireplace.

The big Gator vs FL State game is on today so I am going to be doing some decorating and cheering.

Making a big pot of soup for supper--beef veggie.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hugs, Mona

Marcie, so good to hear from you, sorry you are feeling so ill emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Mona, you should certainly get them out to the heater if it is still not working properly, don't wait until it is out of guarantee.
My PT is just gentle stuff to start, basically letting my bad arm dangle down at the front and gently move it backwards and forwards (pendulum they call it) and holding a stick with both hands on it(while I am sitting down so it is on my lap) and lift the stick with my right hand taking the left one with it. I go back 16th Dec to see how I am getting on and get some more exercises plus and ultra sound

Elder son and wife round for dinner tonight along with their 2 dogs, then tomorrow they are taking Emma shopping to see what she would like for Christmas. They will drop her off here afterwards as her parents live in the opposite direction, we live in the middle of them both ..lol

off to get breakfast and then some cleaning up, another Wales rugby match tonight so will be watching that, they play Australia this week

see you later
hugs

I am so glad to hear from you--we were getting a bit worried with all that was going on. So sorry you have been sick. Hope you are feeling better.

I was just signing off when I saw your note pop up so I am off to bed.

Take care and you have been in my prayers.

Hi all,

I'm still here, been checking in and reading but not chatting. Sorry. Worked last weekend, had MOnday, Tuesday, Wednesday off, worked Thanksgiving and Friday. I'm thinking 3 days off together I'm going to do some heavy duty housecleaning. Oh the best laid plans of mice and men! I came home from owrk on Sunday with the flu, spent the next 3 days going from bed to sofa. Went to work because it was a holiday and no one to cover with out really inconveniencing someone. Guess i will spend the rest of the weekend trying to get over it so I can go back to work on Monday. So that's where I have been for the last week. I will try to keep better touch with everyone. Love ya Marcie

BRRR! Down in the 30's tonight. But the sun has been beautiful the last two days.

Our heat pump was acting up again this morning. I am going to call Monday and have them check it. We haven't had it a year.

Hope everyone had a good day. I went over my calories again eating leftovers.

I bought the spark book--thought I would treat myself. I was surprised I got 1000 points. WOOHOO!! I hope the DVD works. The exercise one I got doesn't work at all. :(

Off to bed now--see you in the morning.

Hugs, Mona

Just stopped by to say still no word on Brooke's tests. I sure do appreciate all the prayers.

How did the PT appointment go Sue? Has it stopped raining yet?

Hopefully we will dry out later today. Tomorrow looks like a beautiful day.

Need to get going and get a few things done.

Evening team,

Mom came down with MRSA a year before she passed. She was pretty sick and ended up in the hospital. The antibiotics worked and she never had a problem from it again. I will keep your granddaughter in my prayers.

Sue good for you and the walking. There are no sidewalks around here and the big farming trucks roar up and down the road here. DH is so afraid that one of them will hit me. So my walking must be done on a track or in the house.

Working my way through all the Christmas projects I have planned. Should be able to finish them all. It will the first time ever if I do.

Wonder how the rest of the team is doing. Sure have missed hearing from them. Hope that they are doing okay.

Mona, we are about 150 miles from Cockermouth. Did you know that is where the poet William Wordsworth(he wrote Daffodils) was born?

My cousin got MRSA when she had a lump on her leg removed, they got rid of it with strong anti biotics. They say most people have it, that is why they test for it now before people go in for an op, so they can clear it up before hand.At one time it was prevelant in hospitals but think there is a new superbug in its place now. I sometimes think we are too clean and so tougher germs that are resistant to meds are born. Hope Brooke hasn't got that and praying for her, but good news it can be treated within a fortnight.

Good luck with dh tests, and hope you find a pedometer you like

Not done a lot today, done the ironing and am now reading and on here just catching up

see you all later

Sue~~you amaze me with all your walking. Don't you get sick again!!! How far are you from Cockermouth? They showed a bridal shoppe there that was totally flooded--beautiful gowns and satin shoes all in the mud. So sad!!

Dh and I are going to the heart hospital today so he can get his blood checked. Then do a little shopping and YES--get my new pedometer.

Had an e-mail from my son last night. Brooke, his oldest daughter has a suspected case of MRSA. I do not know much about it but it is a bacterial infection that does not respond to penicillan. They two girls are both fine from having the swine flu but they are very concerned about this infection on her leg. Please say a prayer for her. Hopefully it won't even be that but until the results come back that is how they are treating it.

Off to the shower! Be back later.

Good afternoon,

Sue - we had to watch Scooby-Doo and Garfield. We did get to see the Utah game while my son went to visit other family members. They headed home yesterday evening and found their frig. and stove in their living room. Hopefully by the end of today both appliances will find their home back in the kitchen.

After a crazy weekend I am back to being sure that I am doing the right things. Exercise, food, and water. I am not going to let the Thanksgiving meal trip me up.

Hope all is going well.

Happy Saturday all;
Sue - you and I seem to be having a similar day. The GS will be here all weekend.

Taking easy today. Hoping to catch a football game or two. But with the GS it will probably be cartoons.

Have a great weekend all.

Sounds like a fun time Sue!!

I am out to find either a new pedometer or a battery for the old one I have. I loved my WW one because it didn't use batteries. But I killed it by dropping it on the bathroom tiles.

Glad you got some good rest Fluf.

Take care and have a good day everyone!

Hi everybody.

Mona, you need to drink more water to help get rid of fluid gain, it will flush it out. I know it is hard rushing around to different drs and not getting enough to drink, and then thinking if I do I will need the bathroom. I always gain fluid on days out because I don't drink enough water. Take a couple of bottles with you..we don't want you having any serious problems

Fluff, so pleased you got some sleep, nothing worse than a disturbed night, puts you right out of sorts for the day

Having a quiet day today, watching the rugby match between my beloved Wales emoticon and Argentina not sure which is their flag
Tomorrow we are having Emma for lunch and tea while her mum and dad go to see a film and have a meal afterwards, looking forward to that, we have so much fun with her now and she plays so well. She loves coming here as she gets one to one attention, she adores grandad especially, he is as silly as her..lol

see you later

Just taking a few minutes to check in and see how things are going.

I was down to 280.4 this morning so I think some of that was fluid. I really have to watch with this congestive heart problem about fluid gains. But I was surely disappointed yesterday.

Mom is still at the hospital. They admitted her at 9:30 and said her doctor had ordered two units of blood. So I stayed for awhile and then came home for a bit with Dennis. They said she would probably be there until early evening as each unit takes about three hours. She just called and was waiting for some lunch and watching tv. Thank you for the prayers.

Your 2010 idea is great Sue. I won't give up but I really have to do some serious planning and comitting. I thought I had but boy I lost control yet again. I am still down 24 pounds from when I started so I will focus on that as a starting point.

Talk to you later.

Oh Mona, so sorry you went the wrong way out of the 270's..I know that feeling..BUT..we will do it together.
I find I am spending too much time talking about it and not enough doing it..SO..I have decided to quit Facebook and also a couple of teams on here. I am co-leader of 3 teams and am keeping them and either leaving the others or just not going on much. I am making a plan to always work out a weeks menu in advance and shop for that, do not buy any extras. Plus set aside time to exercise, do the most in the morning, but also some in the evening
I am also working on our next challenge for next year as I certainly haven't kicked butt this challenge.
How about we call the next one..Start again in 2010..(said twenty-ten, so it rhymes)?
I will set that up at the end of December

Mona, hope your mum gets on okay.
I got an omron pedometer from Amazon, little bit more expensive(£20) but very reliable, accurate and takes new batteries..lol
I even bought a pack of the little batteries it takes because when they die it can take a day or two to get a new one, so dh just bought a pack..lol
Have a good Wednesday

hugs
sue

WOW!! That is great Dore!! WTG!!!!! I am sorry to say I got out of the 270's but not the way I wanted. I was up to 284 at the doctor's today. I could have sat right down and cried. But I am with you Sue and I am NOT giving up. I love this team too and this is where I did so well in the beginning and I am going to do it again.

Hope your headache is better, Sue and that you are feeling better too, Pam.

I take my Mom to the hospital tomorrow for a blood transfusion. She is anemic. I thought this was a bit drastic but this is what her doctor wants done. I will probably be late getting on again tomorrow.

Still no pedometer. They didn't have any on base. I guess I will check out walmart or target when I get a few extra minutes.

Have a great evening all!!

Thanks for the cheerleading, Dore! Way to go losing 6 lbs! I've never heard of celiac disease. Hmmmm... Bodies are just weird sometimes.

Sue, Good job getting your walking in, and I hope your migraine is better--those are miserable! As for me being up early... I've been having trouble sleeping lately, especially when I'm not feeling well, so sometimes I get up and check out SparkPeople for a bit.

Mona, I hope you get your new pedometer today, and you will get out of those 270's!

Well, back to bed...

Happy Monday to all,

I hear a bit of discouragement in the ranks. Your cheerleader is here. You guys were all so very good to me when I was struggling and I want you to know that you inspired me to stick with it. I know that it is just so darn frustrating sometimes, but we can all do this.

Put the past behind you, look forward today and make the adjustments to what you are doing that will work. It has been a real struggle for me and your kind words kept me pushing ahead. So I will now become your cheerleader and send good wishes your way.

My frustrating thing is finding what foods work for me and what foods don't. Some of the foods you would think I shouldn't eat somehow give me my lowest glucose readings. Like pizza, we ordered some last night and sad to say I didn't stay too close to the calorie count. So I really did expect a jump in the numbers this morning. But no, they were the lowest since starting. Talk about confusing. Oh well, the good thing is that by staying true to my program I lost a total of 6 lbs. last week.

So you can see there is no perfect formula for any of us. We need to find what works for us and then work it so that we have success.

Pam - have you ever heard of celiac disease? The main thing is an intolerance to wheat. There is a web site that covers it and it also have a questionaire that will help you to know if you might have the condition. I will find it for you and get the link so that you can check it out.

Mona - I laughed to very hard at your description of your weekend. Didn't you know that you are not supposed to win. My goodness you are not even supposed to know how it works. But that makes you the coolest grandma. :-)

Ladies - there is still time to make progress towards our goal for the end of the year.

Please have a good day.

Dore

Good morning all!

Well I was back up to 279 this morning--good grief!! These 270's seem to never want to go!!!

I broke my darn pedometer so I will have to go find one today--that is really a big help to me. Plus I am on several teams that use your steps each day.

I know for me the carbs are my worst nightmare. Not so much the fruits when I eat them for breakfast or lunch. But bread, pasta, and rice really make me want "more". The one week I stayed at my lowest intake allowance I lost 6 pounds. I have got to get back there again.

I was doing really good too. But once I go off for a day--look out!!

I am really doing the same as you Sue--although I never did move out of phase one. The NO eating after 7:30 really helps me too.

Doing laundry today and have to take my Mom to her doctor at 2:30. She has to have her flu shot.

Take care everyone and I will talk to you later.

Pam, you are up and about early.

I am wheat and dairy intolerant. I cannot have milk at all unless it is goats milk or I am ill right away. Bread I should stay away from, but if I have multi-grain and just a couple of slices a week I am usually okay, trouble is I love it and tend to eat more, knowing it will make me ill..how stupid am I? My eldest son has just been told the same thing and has gone cold turkey with no bread and lost 20lbs in a month, so now he is ideal weight for his height..6'3"
I need to get my head on and do the right thing, if I could do it last year I can do it again
They do say the human digestive system isn't able to digest cows milk or wheat seems to be more and more. I think it is more likely the stuff they add to the bread myself, when we were in Italy I had bread every day, they use a yellow flour and I had no problems at all. Oh Sue! I'm sorry to hear that you've had a temporary setback with weight loss. Health problems/sick sure make it hard, don't they? I'm struggling too--sick with Swine Flu "Lite", and I'm staying away from the scale until all the water weight from the sodium in all that chicken soup is gone!

Interesting that you mention that you can't lose when eating bread, because I'm wondering if I have a "sensitivity" to wheat. It seems like I have an extremely difficult time managing my eating when I have wheat--especially pasta or bread. When I stay away from wheat and get my starches from rice, potatoes, or corn, it seems easier to stay in control. (Not easy, but not nigh-impossible!) Too bad it's so difficult to stay away from wheat... Anyway, that's a theory I'm exploring. Anybody else suspect wheat makes a tough task tougher?

Hugs,
~ Pam P.

Good morning all.

Mona, good to have you back, safe and sound, the weather has been really bad hasn't it?
We are getting some here now, it was bad on Friday and Saturday and there was a tornado on our South coast and 60 houses gone, Sunday was lovely and I dried all the washing outside. Today is pouring and blowing a gale again
LOL..can just see you on the X box..my dh and both sons have Play station 3, and they are aged 50, 32 and 29 !!!!!.lol

I am really fed up, literally, I have put on 6lbs, the whole amount I lost this year, which makes me 2lbs up on the start of this challenge. I am going back to stage one on here and tracking everything and getting my butt moving. I walked one mile with LS this morning, first time for weeks, I am so cross with myself and have to do something now or I will be putting on what I lost last year as well

I need to make a plan for times to exercise and stick to it, also no more food after 7.30 and no bread..I just cannot lose while eating bread

hugs
sue

Oh Fluf!! The weather was terrible there on Friday and half of Saturday. It was so cold!! BRRR! And where the tidewater comes in by my daughter it was all the way up into their yard. The marsh looked like one huge lake--totally covered the sea oats.

But today it was gorgeous when we left at 7:30. And it is beautiful here now too.

I will find that cafe for sure when I go back over in a few weeks and will also let you know ahead of time when I am going. This was a quick trip.

We made it back!! I forgot how much energy it takes to run after three boys--11,9, and 6. PHEW! I broke my pedometer yesterday so now I am going to hurry up and find a new one so I don't get too far behind on my challenge.

I wrote down the name of the cafe and the phone number. We left early this morning but I am going back over between Thanksgiving and Christmas. So I will probably go myself and make sure I find it. I asked the girl in the VFW if she knew anyone who used Fluf as a "nickname" but she didn't. So like I said the next trip I will definitely find it--and yes the directions made sense!!

I will be about directly in between where they are looking at a place in Atlanta. And with them still having the house in Pawleys it will be nice. They looked at seven houses and the one was out of this world. It had a gorgeous pool and the yard went right down to the lake. It was a two-story stone home and beautiful landscaping. The pool had a jacuzzi built into a stone hill on one side and then a slide that went all around down into the pool. Hard for my "dumb" brain to describe but it was a gorgeous place. They were all pretty that she showed me.

I am xboxed to death and listened to def leppard, white shark and guns and roses way more than I wanted to in a lifetime. But that kept everyone busy. My little grandson didn't yell at my xbox talents this time but he did get VERY upset when I killed his man twice and sent him back to the beginning. Oh well!! I don't care for that stuff at all but I was just the babysitter. :) We did read and play some "I spy" games and that was fun.

Glad you are feeling better Sue. I need to really get back on track in the morning. Didn't do horrible but didn't do great either. But I sure did get exercise.

Marcie--hope you are feeling better and that you can work everything out between you and family. Like Sue, I have been there too but really have said I will NOT get involved. I love them all and just work on my relationship with them. It has really taken a toll on you and you need to get yourself feeling good again!! Take care dear friend.

Off to sort things out. Laundry tomorrow and then hope to do some organizing for Thanksgiving baking.

Take care and have a great day everyone.

Hugs, Mona emoticon

Good morning all from a dry bright Matlock, the winds seem to have died down, for now. I have had a very fitful sleep, since about 5 but forced myself to stay in until 9 tryig to get rid of the horrible dream I was having, but no luck, it just went on longer..lol

The roller skating trip was enjoyable yesterday, for me anyway. Both my dil's weren't happy, one did go round a few times holding on, the other one, just stood up, wobbled turned round and sat next to me, very heavily and hurt her back(she is the one with crumbling discs in her spine and took her boots off. She said these boots are your size, you have a go !!!..told her I have gout, bunions and a torn rotator cuff..and she wants to put me on wheels....don't think so, but I was laughing so hard, had tears streaming down my face and got a pain in my side.

Marcie, I know so well how guilt can eat at you and even get you to give in just to make the peace, but try to concentrate on you for now. Hope you can get in touch with your sister to sort things out.
Yes, certainly get bf to help you we all need help and he should be willing(if not happy..lol) to do it

Fluff, won't it be great to know that Mona has seen your artwork up close, so wish I could, maybe one day

Off to get breakfast, see you all later

hugs

Good afternoon ladies,

We are getting a little bit of that Nor'Easter today. It's rainy and windy but the temps are in the 60's so it's not bitter cold.

I'm just hoping that I don't start feeling guilty for not talking to my mom over Thanksgiving. I may email my sister and see if she is ready to talk to me yet. I don't want to talk to my mom until I have my sister's version of what was said.

I just can't focus on the weight right now. I'm trying to get back on the treadmill and maybe that will help relieve some of the stress. I'm working the holiday and the day after so i get the MOnday, Tuesday and Wednesday before off of work and plan on doing some major house cleaning. I told BF to schedule me some time on those days so he can help. Well that's it for now, love ya Marcie

Good morning all, I am waiting for a lift from elder son to take me roller skating emoticon ..no wait, I am going cheerleading, both sons and their wives and our grandaughter are going and they asked if me and dh would like to go. DH says he is a miserable old git and is staying to play games on his PS3, but I am looking forward to it. I am 80% better, just got this horrible dry tickly cough left.

Marcie, train yourself to distance yourself from other people's troubles as much as you can. I always used to be the stuck in the middle one, either between kids and their wives or kids and my parents. Now when they start I just keep repeating, I am not getting involved you will have to talk to them. Everyone was taken aback at first, especially my dad, but now when I say it they say okay..that is my dh training me so my bp doesn't go through the roof

Mona, have a great weekend, keep walking to counteract the food...lol.
Does this mean your daughter will be further away from you when they move?

Well better get some brekkie before my lift arrives

hugs

Hi everyone

I am at my daughter's in Pawleys Island and we are taking care of the three boys while she and her husband are househunting in Atlanta. They will be home tomorrow night and we will get home around noon on Sunday.

Did a lot of walking today but boy the calories were way off. GRRR!

Fluf, what is the name of your friend's cafe? Did you say it was across from the VFW? We stopped in there for lunch today and I wanted to go see if I could find it but could NOT remember the name.

Sue~~sure hope you are feeling better. I need to really get back at it Monday. I forgot to weigh before we left this morning and with all I ate today I guess it was a good thing. Not weighing now until first of the week.

Have a great Sunday all!!

Marcie~~hang in there. I know you are really having a rough time with family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs, Mona emoticon

Hi all,

I ended up rescheduling my therapy session because I got hung up at work. But I do have another one for December 5. I truly think part of my problem that week was my hormones were raging. Period was late, BF was away. But I still need soem help. I don't know what to say to my mom, part of the reason I am so upset is somthing my sister told me in confidence so it's not my place to tell my mom. I have quit worrying about so my stress level is down a little. I must get back on the treadmill though. Well that's it for now. Good luck on the challenge ladies. remember there are only bumps in the raod. Love ya Marcie

Morning all

Pam, the news on the knee sounds a bit better, how is it going?

Marcie, have you started with a counsellor yet? I wouldn't mind someone like that to talk to that will keep it all quiet and let me rant..lol. One of my dil's saw one a few years ago after a bad bout of depression, she told me it was great to sit and moan about everyone !!!!..including me, the perfect mil..lol..actually even she says I am better than my son has, her and her mum do clash a lot, very alike although she would never admit it..lol

Fluff, hope your sales pick up, how is it going at your friends cafe/restaurant? Any sales from there yet?

My exercise has been non existent the last few weeks with one thing and another, but hoping to start walking again next week when this cold has gone.
Food all over the place also, not eating and then wanting (and having ) ice cream to ease my throat
Oh well still 7 weeks to New Year

hugs

In these economic times, choosing when and where we spend money is so very important. We are having to do this too.

Yucky weather today, so staying inside for most of it.

Hope you have a good day one and all.

Went to Bible study this morning and I am just now getting on the computer.

I always feel like I am "wasting" time when I am lazy but it really does revive me physically and spiritually.

It has been raining (sometimes pouring) since yesterday. And the winds are to be 20-30 mph. Effects from Ida moving back out to the Atlantic. We are always wanting rain too, Dore. So this is very welcome.

Going to make a nice pot of chilie for supper tonight. DH loves it on cold rainy days. So do I!!

Have a great day everyone.

Hugs, Mona

Good morning ladies,

I am checking early today because I had to be quiet because DH didn't get home until 4:15 this morning from work. He needed his sleep and the walls in this house are paper thin. Its an old farm house.

Pam - so good to hear good news about the knee. Also I am sure that knowing exactly why you are not having surgery must have been a big help. Take it slowly with getting back into exercise. These bodies can take alot but why treat them bad. We need them to last a long, long time.

Mary - how goes it? Hope your counselling session goes well.

Mona - its okay to have a lazy, do nothing day. But I know I also feel bad when I don't think I have accomplished much. I sometimes wish I could take the little person that sits on my shoulders and says such terrible things to me about being lazy and throw him/her away. I do believe I would still get things done but would feel better about what I do accomplish.

Also could you send some of that rain my way. They are saying it is going to be a dry winter and that is something we just don't need since the majority of our water all year long comes from the winter precip.

Got to finish the two coats I am working on today. Should be interesting since it took all day yesterday to rip out the zipper on a coat for a 2 yrs old.

Have a great day ladies.

That sounds better, Pam. I am glad you are able to do the exercises and I know your cat is getting back at you.

Still raining here. It has been a dreary day and I got absolutely nothing accomplished. Oh well, I said it was going to be a lazy day.

Take care all

Go Mona! You're doing great!

So, Marcie, did your boyfriend get home okay? Any surprise deer as a result of the "deer hunting?" I hope you're feeling a little better. Is your appointment with the counselor this Thursday? I've seen counselors on a few occasions over the years--it's been very helpful when I got someone I clicked with and inadvertently enlightening when I got someone I DIDN'T click with.

I hope everyone is making good progress and having a good week!

My knee is starting to feel a little better. I can actually do a little lower body cardio without extreme aching the next day! YAY! I get my third and supposedly last injection tomorrow. I dunno...maybe I'm expecting too much, but I thought I'd see more improvement by now. Had my second session with the therapist today. I really like her. She explained my knee in simple terms: it's not that I wouldn't benefit from having the torn meniscus cleared up, it's that I'm not a good candidate for surgery. Because of the arthritis, there's virtually no cartilage left on the inside of the knee where I tore the meniscus. If they remove the torn portion of the meniscus, there'll be NOTHING between the bones. So a torn meniscus is probably better than nothing, and the gel injections are my best bet to smooth things over. I've been doing my therapy exercises and I got two more today. The cat loves chewing on my braid when I lay down on the floor to do them! (Could this be his revenge for being dressed up as a pumpkin for Halloween?)

Dore he has been going "hunting" for over 10 years and I don't think he has ever fired his gun. It's a "man" vacation away from the women folk. It's a testosterone adventure. Whatever makes him happy is okay with me. We took our little vacation last month to NH. But I have truly missed him this week, he always says the right thing to make me feel better.

I still went to bed and had a good cry last night, it was like the 3rd one this week. I'm pretty sure my perimenopausal hormones are having a lot to do with it. Aun flo's flight has still not landed. At least I know I am not pregnant (had that taken care of 27 years ago). Chat soon love ya Marcie
