One of the staffers at my pool isn't letting me swim while I have a cold sore on my lip, but I got a run in this morning.

I did all oif my workouts yesterday, but I had extra wine after dinner, so I need to stop that. Today, I hope to do better.

The scale can be so confusing. So many factors affect it.

That is a great maintenance time.

My weight had shot up - 146.5 , my highest since I got into maintenance in 2010. At least part of that must have been water, period bloat, whatever, 'cause I'm back to 142.0 after a single week.

I'm in. It feels to me like my body has settled on a set point about 4 pounds above my goal weight. Which is fine, but makes me want to try to get my weight down to 4 pounds below my goal and see if that will reset my set point to my actual goal weight.
So I'll join you weighing in. Gonna try to get to 134 by October 4 (date from another team challenge) and then hold between 134 and 138 (my actual goal weight) to the end of the year.

I weighed in on January 1, but I'm just reporting it now. Alas, I had a lot of fun eating for the last week and a half, which ruined my hope for a photo finish.

Final result for me on this challenge: +3 lbs.

Personal Result for the Year 2009: -12 lbs. *sigh* Not where I wanted to be, and 10 lbs heavier than I was at the end of June.

Happy New Year to one and all.

I am officially down 5 lbs. for this challenge. That makes it 21 lbs. for the year. It is slow progress but I am finding it easier to maintain when the losses are slow and small.

Hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Looking forward to your support and encouragement in the coming year as we work together to reach our goals. Put the past behind you and focus on the future. Think of it as a dry run and practice. Now we all know what NOT to do.

See you tomorrow.

My 20 pounds went to 17 pounds lost last year. I allowed myself 5 minutes to pout but now it is time to do something about it. I think I have my "spark" back.

Taking down the tree today. Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon girls,

I am so with you. On Friday we all start a new year and a new focus. I think I will probably finish the year with a 20 lb. loss. Do wish that it was more but I am not going to focus on the negative. Lets make it a good year. emoticon

Have a great New Year everyone.

I think we are all "so" ready to start again. I know I am up in my weight and the exercise is just amounting to some step walking indoors. BUT--I do have a plan.

I too wasted half a year Marcie. Makes me angry but atleast I am down from where I was when I started. What is the flat belly diet Fluf?

We CAN do this!! I keep thinking how much better I felt when I was really on program--and how tired I am again now that I'm not.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello all,

I am in for 2010. Once again I will start again. Hopefully seeing a counselor and changing my antidepressant will kick the year off with a good start. 2009 ended very sadly unfortunately. I will get on the scale on Friday but I am afraid the needle has not moved much (either way) since August. half a year up in smoke. I can't give up because that would mean my death much earlier than it has to be. Small baby step challenges sound good to me. So here we go ladies, down down and off! (my version of up up and away). hang in there ladies we will do this. Love ya Marcie

LOL..I have 3lbs to lose by Friday to be at the same weight as when I started this challenge, lost a lb this morning so am moving the right way now.
I am fired up and really in the mood, had a line dancing dvd for Christmas so I can have more fun with moving, had 15 books for Christmas as well so lots to take my mind off food.

I think if we do short challenges we will stick to it better, but how about we pick something to do for a week,a nd then add to it the 2nd week, for example the first week make sure we have 8 glasses of water, 2nd week keep up water and add 5 freggies a day, 3rd week, add 20 minutes movement etc so we build up and do more and more until it is automatic?
Any ideas please post them and we can start from Friday

hugs

Hmmm... Sue, I was just thinking that maybe my even years are better than the odd years! GO ALL OF US IN 2010!!

Sorry to hear about all your snow, Sue, but I'm glad your son won't be totally cut off from Christmas festivities. We're getting tons of snow right now--probably the 20 inches Marcie got last weekend. So far we have around 9 inches and the worst is yet to come. White Christmas, my butt! There's a white Christmas, but what you and we have is insane.

Mona, I envy you being ready for Christmas and feeling better. I'm coughing and limping around the house in a desperate attempt to make the house look habitable for this evening. I twisted the ankle on my GOOD leg (idiot!) while trying to keep weight off my bad leg, so I look pretty silly. My son is a huge help, and he's fixed up the basement so that our few guests can stay overnight because of the snow. Lord knows I have enough FOOD to handle being snowed in!
emoticon
It's gonna be FUN! Movies, Wii, "hot beverage bar", food, and probably only 3 people will make it. Party!! I've got out the "Die Hard" movies along with my Christmas selections. Hey, those movies all take place on Christmas!

Pam, I AM 4lbs up on the challenge..and 3lbs up on the year,BUT 2010 is going to be my year the same as 2008 was. Maybe I do better in even years..lol

Have a wonderful time and hope you can see or speak to family. We may not see our youngest son, wife and grandaughter as we had more snow last night and their tiny village in the middle of nowhere is cut off, luckily power is still on and dil mum lives a 5 minute walk away on her huge farm and that is where they go for dinner

I hope you've all been doing better on this challenge than I have. Here we are, into the home stretch, and I'll be lucky if on January 1 I don't weigh MORE than I did on August 17. On the plus side, at least it looks like it could be a "photo finish" for me, rather than a runaway defeat!

It is a snowy Monday night. Watching Monday Night Football. That makes me think of you Mona. So sorry that your Florida Gators lost. It was a hard fought game.

Well the Bowls are set. I can't believe that Boise St. is going to play TCU again this year. Just a different Bowl game.

Had a very busy weekend. I was so very surprised to find that I had lost 4.7 lbs. this past week. I have spread that out over three weeks since the scale didn't move for three weeks.

Hope that everyone is feeling better today. Marcie I think it is great that you are doing something for yourself. Getting healthy emotionally is just as important as physically.

Stay focused one and all.

I am thinking that I might need to wear a virtual mask or something since at this point I seem to be the only one NOT sick. While I do hope you all get better, please oh please don't send it my way. I hate being sick and I have way too much to get done before we leave to visit our daughter and family.

Hello all, just a quick pop in to say hi. This cold is getting worse, cough and sore throat worse than ever, now dropping to my chest and feeling very tight and sore, plus still streaming eyes and yukky nose. Can manage about 10 minutes on here before the coughing starts so bad again
keep smiling

Marcie, my elder son had swine flu a few weeks ago but I think mine is just a lousy cold

OMG! I didn't know that when we talk about "internet viruses" that humans could actualy catch it! Should we call the Guiness Book of Records or the medical board? LOL!

Around here they are calling it "swine flu" or H1N1 Flu. I don't care what you call it, it sucks. I hope everyone feels better by Christmas. I have my first counseling session on Saturday. Feeling guilty for not talking to my mom on Thanksgiving but I just can't handle the drama.Chat later, love ya Marcie

Sue, that sounds EXACTLY like my sore throat! VERY painful throat, fever, then getting laryngitis with some coughing, and then an earache or middle/inner ear problems--dizziness & nausea.

Yes, I've been taking my own advice--not wanting to break my water streak on Sparkpeople is the only thing that had me force down enough fluids. I counted broth, juice, tea... any clear liquid I could choke down. Ibuprofen for the pain & fever and throat lozenges. And trying to get lots of rest. I'm getting there, but I'm rescheduling my dentist appointment that was supposed to be on Thursday.

You take care, Sue! And everyone else! I've added two more people to my Intercontinental Thanksgiving Throat Virus roster.

Hugs,
~ Pam

Pam, I am just getting that and I don't even live on the same continent. Couple of days ago a scratchy throat, which now is raging and very hot in bed last night, despite the coldest night here with thick frost. We don't have heat in our bedroom either as I don't like it on. Feel yukky now, so it must be all over the world this virus.
Hope you feel better soon, keep warm, drink plenty and rest emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon , bowl of chicken soup for you

Congrats on no gain over the holiday even if you don't know how you did it..lol

How are you all doing with healthy lifestyles as we swing into full holiday season?

I picked up some dreaded Thanksgiving virus. I've heard of other Sparkers getting the same thing after Thanksgiving, so I hope nobody HERE did! (Marcie, sounds like you may have gotten it early.) I woke up Saturday morning with a horrible sore throat and I was "warm." Sunday it was worse, more swollen, and I'd upgraded to "fever." Tonight I'm finally starting to feel a bit better--down to "elevated temperature" and I no longer clench my teeth or grip furniture from the pain when I swallow.

As for that healthy lifestyle thing: I was HORRIBLE all Thanksgiving week and ate everything in sight. It was as if I'd flicked a switch that said "Holiday Mode," and I couldn't muster any motivation to turn it off again. Monday I got on the scale, braced for a 6-lb gain, telling myself that all but 2-3 lbs of that weight should be water weight gain. And what did the scale say? That I weighed the same! HUH? NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING; I just don't understand. I'd been having juice and salty broth soups for two days so I didn't expect to lose water weight. Bodies are so weird.

Good afternoon all,

Watching Mona's Gator ball game. I get to watch all the important games as Boise State plays generally on Fridays. They won and now I can cheer on other teams.

Staying inside to get warm.

Everyone take care of yourselves. It you are not feeling well be sure to get the rest that you need. Drink plenty of fluids.

Have a great weekend.

Good morning

We called the man who installed the heat pump and he is coming over. It is 73 in the house with the fireplace.

The big Gator vs FL State game is on today so I am going to be doing some decorating and cheering.

Making a big pot of soup for supper--beef veggie.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hugs, Mona

Marcie, so good to hear from you, sorry you are feeling so ill emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Mona, you should certainly get them out to the heater if it is still not working properly, don't wait until it is out of guarantee.
My PT is just gentle stuff to start, basically letting my bad arm dangle down at the front and gently move it backwards and forwards (pendulum they call it) and holding a stick with both hands on it(while I am sitting down so it is on my lap) and lift the stick with my right hand taking the left one with it. I go back 16th Dec to see how I am getting on and get some more exercises plus and ultra sound

Elder son and wife round for dinner tonight along with their 2 dogs, then tomorrow they are taking Emma shopping to see what she would like for Christmas. They will drop her off here afterwards as her parents live in the opposite direction, we live in the middle of them both ..lol

off to get breakfast and then some cleaning up, another Wales rugby match tonight so will be watching that, they play Australia this week

see you later
hugs

I am so glad to hear from you--we were getting a bit worried with all that was going on. So sorry you have been sick. Hope you are feeling better.

I was just signing off when I saw your note pop up so I am off to bed.

Take care and you have been in my prayers.

Hugs, Mona emoticon
