I got eaten alive yesterday sitting in St. Nicholas Park. I wasn't there more than 5 minutes, and I must have a dozen new bites on my ankles and one in my arm pit. That I was able to ignore while I was out and about, but not in wee hours when 'm trying to sleep. I'm distracting myself while another coat of cortisone does its thing.

Okay, this is a little gross, but
I started waxing my legs periodically a few years back. It's great, except that I always get a few ingrown hairs. And then I scratch the little bumps over the ingrown hairs and it gets steadily worse. Duh. So for the next 21 days, I'm going to shave only, and I'm going to use cortizone and vitamin E to try to heal the skin and stop myself from scratching. As I realize I've scratched another spot absent-mindedly while typing this post! Geez.

I have failed to keep up with this and the weekend did me in. So, today, in effort to get back on track,, my new challenge will simply be tracking my food.

I know this will work for me and I tend to avoid it because I don't like the truth. So, today, I have tracked faithfully and have planned ahead for the evening meal. I vow not to eat anything that I refuse to log. So, I will have a reality check prior to eating it.

***ON Vacation***
Hubby surprised me with a Road Trip Adventure to Mt Lassen National Park. Loaded up the dogs, grabbed the camera and away we went. Was a Fabulous adventure so i do not mind starting over today. :)
This is Manzanita Lake at the Base of the Mt Lassen.
Now this week we have a camping trip...I will be back next Monday.

Day 5 - weekend is going good so far.
@ Grebjack - I have started doing short meditations in those "wait times" basically it is a close my eyes breathe in -focus only on my breath - breathe out. But it gives my mind a few minutes of "nothingness" and it calms the anxiety of not doing.

It occurs to me I need one other thing for the avoiding-computer-games habit:
I should know from my early attempts to change my diet that I'm not good at REMOVING things from my life, but I'm really good at replacing or crowding them out. I need to find something else to do with those 5 minute chunks of time that pop up waiting for the train or waiting for the microwave or waiting for the spin cycle to finish. A quick sudoku has been my go to thing, but then when the washer stops and I finish the game instead of hopping up to hang the clothes, that's when it starts to feel like a time suck. I need to find a way to replace the old habit instead of just trying to drop it.
What else can I do with five minutes? I should try for 100 squats! So I can be too sore to climb the stairs to the laundry room!

Yesterday went very well and I hope my motivation sticks.

Great find, Ruby! Tosca was my first introduction to the concept of clean eating and I know it works. I just need to stick with it and ditch the junk food binges for good.

I like the idea of having a snack/reward/ built in. I am going to incorporate that as well.
My 21 day challenge will be cutting the gluten / sugar 95%
Minimum 20 minutes on the treadmill every other day
Overall Body Toning 3 days a week,

Did not complete day 3 :(
Weekends are very hard. I am starting fresh on Monday, I have determined that I have too much leeway just saying no junk food. I already know that I do so much better without eating gluten, and non-naturally occurring sugars. I will most likely try this approach to see if it helps me stay strong. :)

I plan to make it thru Day 12 today...but as I am leaving for a road trip mini- weekend getaway to the coast, I am off duty . I will be starting up again on Tuesday and will check in then. I have to renew my drivers license in 6 weeks so I am really motivated to not get too far off track! I hope you have a successful weekend akasharebear!! See you all next week!

Day 3 and feeling motivated again.

I eat eggs for breakfast ever morning, but I like the idea of cereal as an evening snack in case I get the urge for something extra. I think I will get some of that. I have done oatmeal in the evening, but this sounds good, too.

I think I need to plan that extra at night, and then I would not be reaching for the chips. My family would flip if we did not have chips in the house, so I can not eliminate them from the house, but they are out of the kitchen and stored in the office, so a person has to make an extra attempt to go get them. That seems to be working for me, even though that is a strange place to keep them.

Day 10 - this is my secret weapon, I am not much of a breakfast eater and when I do it is usually bread of some sort. I just discovered this cereal. I don't count bacon as junk. I also eat cheese (but natural, of course).

My big thing is trying to avoid sugar and chips--I am a chip-aholic, but I have little problem with staying away from sugar.

Which, sadly I did get out some chips last night. Not a lot, but now I have to start over again at emoticon

Day 2: yesterday went well, I satisfied the sugar withdrawal effect with some watermelon. drank lots of water to offset the "road trip " I had just returned from. All in All was a good day, sneaked in a walk with the dogs. emoticon
