It sounds like everyone is doing good on the food home front. Next hurdle is coming up. Holidays. Think one day at a time. I have to keep telling myself, fun with friends and family happens without or with food. I'm starting to try new foods and new recipes.

Congrats Elaine and Gail on your losses, every bit helps us to get healthier

I have stayed the same again this week, but that is fine..if you saw the meal I had last night when dh took me out, I am just pleased I didn't put on
We shared a starter, lots of yummy meats and prawns mostly fried in batter with dips. Then I had chicken stir fry with egg fried rice, boy the chillies were so hot, my lips and tongue went numb..lol..then I had ice cream to finish, dh had a huge banana split..so as I say I am thankful I didn't put on. I only had crispbreads all day before we went though

see you later
hugs

Every little bit helps. Congrats!! I've been off computer and lost 3.5 lb. but my problem is to keep it off and stay motivated. I'm so happy when I see people lose and keep it off. It makes me convinced I can do it too.

1lb per month is better than a lb gain.
We are all in the same boat for October I think..I have only lost 4lbs all year, and need to get tracking properly again

Congrats on your loss

*knock on wood* I may actually be back on track. I weighed in on Friday and I'm down 3 lbs. That makes my total weight loss since the start of the August 17 Kickbutt Challenge... 3 lbs. Better than the additional 7 lbs I'd REGAINED since August 17!

Pam, I am the same, lost 3lbs, but have lost it before. It doesn't matter, at least we lost it again and didn't leave it there so yay for us
We must have changes, because at one time if I gained it back I would say "blow it" and just give up, so we are changing the way we deal with it. It takes a long time to get out of the mindset we have been in all our lives, BUT we will and are doing it
Good job team, I am so proud of us all emoticon emoticon emoticon

WTG Pam!! I have decided that I am going to take each loss (no matter how many times I've lost it) as a wonderful success!!

Let's keep going!! I am going back to the 7/7 challenge too. I really felt great even doing 5/7 and now that I am walking again I know it will help!!

I'm pleased and embarrassed to announce that I weighed in today I now weigh the same as I did when we started the Kick Butt Challenge on 8/17 -- 265 lbs.

I still need to relose 7 pounds to get back to the 32 lbs I had lost by the end of June. However, I haven't been sitting still since 8/17, oh no. I'd gained back 7 MORE pounds and, as of today, relost those 7 additional pounds.

Back to Square 1 or -1. Better than Square -2! Yay me?

My Weigh-In after 1 week of Kick Butt Challenge:
Start Weight: 265 lbs
Current Weight: 260 lbs

That's 5 pounds relost in 1 week; 2 more reloss pounds to go! I'm sure it's mostly water loss, but I'll take it. I'm going to try and only weigh in every other week after this, because I get discouraged too easily when I'm trying hard and the weight doesn't come off at the rate I expect.

Today starts the Kick Butt Challenge.

My official starting weight: 265 lbs

That's 7 hard-fought pounds regained over a 7-week relapse. *sigh* For someone using the "turtle approach", it's extremely unlikely that I'll make my quarterly weight loss goal of 250 on 9/20. Well, I'll just have to do what I can.

Hope my scales are accurate because as of this morning they said I weighed 274.6 . I couldn't believe it so I reweighed 3 times and moved the scales to a different spot in floor each time and kept getting the same weight so I guess that is now my true weight. Yay and thank you all for your support and comments.
This makes me think that given another year and half I may get to my goal weight . I have patience and am going to give it my darnedest .

Weight this morning 279.4 .Down from 375 when I started August 2008 . This has been a good week weight wise .Lost a lot of water weight that I had built up over last couple of weeks and couldn't get rid off . My feet are not swelling nearly as bad this week as previously, have not felt real well this week think I overdid it last weekend and it has taken me a long time to recuperate . Oh well what can I expect; 61 years old is to old to be riding a triple loop roller coaster .My own fault but wanted to do it one last time with my Grandchildren . The memory for them was worth it .

Weighed in today. I've lost 2 lbs since 6/13. That's 2 of the 4 I need for the 4 More By End of July continuation of the June Challenge. I'm hoping to get as close to that 4 lbs as soon as I can because I'm going to be lucky if I maintain over my vacation!

I think that the exercise did a lot for me and will be the main thing to keep me on a 1-2 pounds a week. But I needed to do something drastic to get back in line and the fruits and veggies pretty much took up the carbs I used last week.

This week I am going to start adding back some more--but NO sweets and mostly fiber carbs. I had my cereal this morning and a whole wheat thin bread roll for lunch. I ate some popcorn for my snack and that will be it. I need to go post this so I know where I am. I figure about 100 and then I will have a few with supper. But if I eat bread I will NOT eat potatoes or pasta. I can't remember who told me to always eat a protein when I eat a carb so I am going to do that. We'll see what happens. I felt good last week after the first few days but I want to find that happy medium for me and still lose.

Okay--end of self analysis!!! I weigh on Fridays so I start on Saturday. Going to do the 5/7 this week. Today is my day #1. So far so good.

Six pounds - Way to go, Mona! Outstanding job!!
emoticon
Sue, Mona's right. You planned and maintained with your birthday?!?! That doesn't happen by itself. Great job!!
emoticon
Sue, Mona hasn't offered her opinion yet (at least not in THIS thread) about your quesion on low carbs, exercise or both, but I'm going to offer mine. While I think her exercise is VITAL to maintaining muscle mass and creating a sustainable weight loss, I think it was the low carb that caused a 6 lb loss in a week.

I've done low carb a number of times over the years, from 0-10/day to 45-60/day. 45-60 is the one I've done most often. I've always had a dramatic weight loss the first week. After the first two weeks, I never lose any more weight, but Mona is like the other women I know who've done low carb and she keeps losing.

Note: Even after returning to my normal eating pattern, that lost weight DID NOT just gallop back on in a week, so the loss wasn't all water weight.

I missed the June 16 challenge by one pound, but I came darn close, and I made my quarterly goal for June 20!

emoticon WooHoo, Sue! Way to go! You're on the move now. Your new meds must be helping your hard work show--finally.

I gotta watch my back. You'll have left me in the dust in a couple weeks!

I hope you got moving, Mona! You don't want Sue and I to leave you in the dust. emoticon You're back on track with the freggies, so hurray!

Down 1 pound in 3 weeks, for a total loss of 28 pounds. Considering the horrible week I had two weeks ago, I'm very happy to show ANY loss.

Pam, that is fantastic. Don't think there is much danger of me catching you unless dr finally gives me thyroid meds on Friday..lol
I have still only lost 2 lbs towards the bd challenge..8 lbs to go in 4 weeks, may be do-able if the weight would move!!!

Be pleased with yourself, I am so proud of you and happy for you emoticon

Go, Sue, Go! emoticon Hopefully that indoor jogging will work off those remaining 9 pounds in time for your 29th birthday.

1 mile in 10 minutes is FANTASTIC! When I was in college, we were required to take a Basic Fitness class as part of a general Phy Ed requirement. The girls would fail the class if they could not complete 1 mile in under 10 minutes by the end of the class. (I don't know what the boys' class was like.) And here you are, Sue, keeping up with all those college babes!!

Now you've got me thinking about my own "indoor track" for when my knee heals. Watch out, cat!

Oh yea Pam, look out Mona, wait for us..lol
I am trying to lose 10 lbs by 16th June and have lost 1 lb since we started, so certainly need to up something. The exercise I think
Am proud that yesterday I jogged 2 miles..not all at once, did 1 mile in 10 minutes and rested and then did the other in 13 minutes. I made a circuit in the house, from the living room to the front door in the hall, through to the back door in the kitchen and back. Well, I can't go outside someone might see me..lol
This is for the 5k which I suddenly realised is only 2 weeks away(less now it is on Saturday 16th May), I got into the afternoon race which I am not sure of, I prefer the morning race but it was fully booked
I am only walking it but would like to jog in places and across the finish line

Off to hang the laundry out and then go for a walk while we have the sun

Down 25 pounds today. Finally! My goals are every 10 pounds, but I was beginning to think I'd never get this far.
