My umph is gone too! Maybe our umphs ran over to Marcie's to help keep her going?

We're supposed to be able to problem solve using dreams, too. *sigh* I just can't get my dreams to behave on command--which is why my dream project has become off-an-on.

Pam, that is very interesting, let us know how you get on.
Years ago when he was a kid, my dh said he always dreamt monsters were getting him, and someone told him, the next time they came, to turn round and scream at the monster, so he said he did and it ran away and he very rarely even remembers his dreams now. They do say our dreams are the filing system for what happens through the day and whatever weird ways they show it is just filing away. Fascinating subject

Anyway, I just plodding on, am tracking again just need to get moving more, been so out of it, since running around after the parents, just don't seem able to find my umph, have you seen it?

see you later

In the Mind Over Matter division (and yes, I am bananas):
emoticon
I have an off-and-on ongoing lucid dream project/experiment. I want to be able to go lucid in dreams, control my dreams, and see if I can use that dreamwork to affect my waking reality. (I think it could be the supreme self-hypnosis, but it's still just a theory.) My ultimate goal would be to be able to use (lucid) dreamwork to help resolve my weight/food issues. (If I succeed with that, I'll figure out my next goal.)

Well, after chatting about dreams in another team, I've picked up my off-and-on dream project again. I'm trying to program a fun-but-hopefully-helpful dream target. I didn't become lucid last night, but I did have an interesting dream. It clearly commented that I may THINK I'm trying something new and different for permanent weight loss, but it's really almost identical to what I've been doing for years--why should I expect the results to be better?

I'll try dream programming again tonight. Maybe at least I can get some new suggestions or insight soon!

Hello ladies! emoticon

I'm just stopping by to tell you that my communication to this team is going to continue to be sporadic. I'm spending about 2 hours a day taking care of my team, Everything Japanese, and I really don't have time for MORE SparkPeople.

In theory I'm a co-leader, but in actuality I'm the only leader. Our little team has been growing and become active since I took over; however, I'm still dealing with people talking to me but not to each other in the threads. Therefore, time-wise, they're my first priority.

I'm still in the Kick Butt Challenge, I just may not post very often.

Hope you're hanging in there, Marcie, with a hot, stressful week. Mona and Sue, I'm glad you're having good weeks!

Hugs,

Marcie, you may need to up your water intake, because of the heat and humidity. De-hydration can certainly cause headaches, not sure about tummy trouble. Try to have more water and get yourself well before the wedding..enjoy yourself there..feel better very soon

Having a good week with tracking and exercise but family health problems not so good..at least I am learning to not eat as that won't solve their problems and only adds to mine

keep going gang, one day at a time

Hi ladies,

Just stopping in to say hello. Have been busy over on the Kick Butt challenge site. It's hard to keep up with both sites every day. I went and caught up with logging my food.

Will heat and humidity give you stomach problems? I've been having diarhea and an upset tummy off and on for a few days. Also very tired with a headache. Hope I feel better tomorrow I have to go back work. Ho hum. Love ya Marcie

Pam, well done, I will take any loss no matter where it comes from..lol..and don't sell yourself short, you have been sticking to it. It doesn't matter if it is the top end, anyway I think it is better to alternate between higher and lower it keeps your body on it's toes and helps it let go

Just another day of working and reading in between for me..lol

Doing great still and hoping to stay under 250's, really trying anyway

Had a wobble the other day when I was going towards the kitchen and luckily I checked on here and someone had sent me a goodie to say congrats so that pulled me up, and I behaved myself

well off to hang more washing out

see you later

There. There was my cheerful smile for the day.

I've managed 6/7 so far this week, but yesterday was at the upper edge. Still... Yay me!

I weighed in this morning: down 5 lbs! Only 2 more pounds to relose. I'm sure it was mostly water loss, but I'll take it! I'm going to try to only weigh in every other week after this and try to focus on behavior instead.

Hello Lovely Ladies! emoticon

Congratulations on getting rid of all 5 pounds, Sue! This is it. THIS time you ARE going to break through and get below 249. Your body may be stubborn and make you wait a month for that first new pound lost, but this time it's going to happen and you'll be on your way again.
emoticon
You too, Marcie! This time you're going to bust through and get to 289 and lower.

Mona, I know what you're going through. I get in these weird states where I'm just struggling or not even bothering to struggle and I can't seem to pull myself together. I'm trying to pull out of one now! My 4/7 challenge wasn't working; then best I could manage was continue to track my calories so I was at least aware of how off track I was. I'm slowly coming back to sensible, but I dunno... You'll get back on track and lose those pounds again, but it so FRUSTRATING to have to relose pounds! They were so hard to get rid of the first time!

I've made my 5/7 this week so far. Yay me! On the down side, I can feel my resolve crumbling and I was planning to weigh in tomorrow.

Where the heck is the miracle hypnosis that will make weight loss easy and permanent?!?!?

CAKE!! My worst enemy. Right up there with all those other BAD desserts.

I am really struggling right now for some reason. I need to find where my "commitment" button is hiding. I won't give up but I am slowly creeping back up the weight tracker.

So once again this week I am adding some exercise and starting over.

You go Sue. What an inspiration you are to stick with it and now see the rewards!! I will get there too. Not sure why I am having such a hard time.

Have a great day.

PAM, I gave Marcie cake on the other thread..she doesn't need a cupcake as well..sheesh..come on girls, step away from the sugar stuff

I did well and got back to 249 so lost 5 lbs this week. Now the problems start, this is the lowest I ever get..it is as if my head sees I am out of the 250's and says hang on a minute she is in the wrong bit and puts me straight back there.
SO, this week I am going to make an extra effort to stay in the 240's

fingers crossed I can do it

see you later, I have serious cleaning to do

And your family doesn't see your granddaughter's resemblance to you? From the photos I thought there was a LOT of similarity.

4/7 on food so far. I've made minimum goal, but with the trouble I'm having lately with running wild as soon as I make goal, I've set my minimum goal as 5/7 this week. 33 min of cardio yesterday. I don't feel quite as crappy today so that's a good thing. My 9/20 quarterly goal of 250 lbs doesn't look too plausible at this point, and SparkPeople's calculator said that was too much weight to plan to lose in too short a time. Well, I'll just have to do what I can do. Anything 258 lbs (all pounds from 6/30 relost) or below would be great!

It's so hard to keep going when it takes so long to lose weight and it's so easy to put back on. Grrrr... GO SUE! Go All of Us!

emoticon Hello ladies!

Ah! Sue and Mona are still checking in on this thread!

Mona, do you best at the Lizard's Thicket for supper tonight; you did great at lunch! You are so determined and motivated, wow!
emoticon
Sue, whatever diet you're eating has made you look DECADES younger! What's your secret? Or... is that profile pic of your grand daughter? She looks a lot like you--what a cutie! You've already done fantastic this week-great job!
emoticon
Marcie, I hope your work schedule isn't too insane this week and I hope you aren't being attacked by storms too.
emoticon
My tracking weeks start on Sunday, with SparkPeople's weeks, and so far I'm 3/7. However, yesterday was right on the upper edge. With the aching and headache I only did 16 minutes of lower intensity cardio yesterday, but at least it was better than nothing.

This morning I foolishly did a mid-week weight check, hoping for encouraging news, but so far I haven't lost anything. Oh well. Today I'm achy, headachy, and feel exhausted and nauseated. Might be undiagnosed allergies, or maybe all of this is because I've got some cold or virus. Whatever is going on, I just feel like crawling back into bed.

The cat and I spent an hour in the basement this afternoon because of tornado warnings for our area. The cat knocked over an empty paper bag and hid inside it. I'm sure that kept him MUCH safer. We survived unscathed.

She woke at 4 and went to sleep again until 6, lucky her..lol I haven't slep since 4. I have a fasting blood test at 8 so she can stay with grandad while I go to that and then I will bath her when I get back. Tell you what, I may be having a nap about 4.30..lol
I have been really sticking to stuff this week and am now only 1 lb up on weight before holiday, and I hope that is gone by Friday
be back as soon as I can

Here I am!! Doing pretty good with my program. I am feeling a bit off tonight. I have had to make dashes to the bathroom--so far so good. hehehehe

Haven't been on too much the last few days. But now that I have gotten pretty good news about my leg I am feeling better. The new meds seem to be working so I hope it continues.

I have been trying to stay away from lots of the junk type food. And NOT bringing it into the house. But tomorrow Dennis wants to go out to eat at Lizard's Thciket--and it is good old southern cooking. So I am going to try and really watch all day so I do not do too much damage with supper. He loves to go there--and he is not a person to go out and eat very often.

Still hot, hot, hot here. WE have had some good rain though and not sure yet if we will get any of the hurricane rains. They are pretty sure none will be coming right towards SC but we could get some rains.

Hope everyone has a good evening and will talk to you all tomorrow.

Hugs, Mona

Hi Marcie! I haven't seen Sue or Mona around this thread since the Kick Butt challenge was getting under way, so I'm not sure if they still check in here too.

I think your "ungoal goal" makes perfect sense! We can't control what the number on the scale says (other than by adjusting the scale, heh heh) so making our goals something we CAN control seems more sensible. We can't control the tape measure either, so targeting one little behavior at a time seems like the best way to ultimate success.

Do those women who lose 100 lbs in their first year annoy you, or is it just me? I'm happy for them, but angry at myself for not being like them. Then I bitterly tell myself they're probably going to gain it all back (like I have in the past), because they didn't take the time to wrestle with and defeat their personal food demons. And THEN I get disgusted with myself for having such negative thoughts when I should be wishing them happy, happy goodness and a wonderful, healthy slim life. *bleah*
emoticon
I had one perfect day yesterday--how ODD of me! So far today is going well, but I have a migraine-ish headache and pain running from my hip to my head. makes me feel whiny. I doubt I'll get in much exercise today, because I HURT.

Did you sneak in some treadmill this morning? How did it go?
emoticon
Weather-wise, today is pretty nice but it's been hot & humid lately. I actually prefer exercising when it's cooler--I don't like busting out in sweat 2 minutes into a 10-minute mini-workout!! A window air conditioner helps but isn't EVERYTHING. Hey, did you ever get your window air conditioners put in for the season?
emoticon
Hope you work day was okay and you're having a good evening!

Hey Pam, nice to see you back. Yes the knee is a whole lot better. No more pain but it still "clicks" when I walk. I worked half the weekend so no I didn't get to attempt the treadmill. But I go into work late tomorrow and have intentions of getting on it before I go in.

The 3 "H"'s of August have hit us. HOt, hazy and humid, not my favorite words. I feel like the oppressive air just sucks the energy right out of me. I don't work outdoors but I am in and out of the office , my car and other buildings all day so I think I feel the difference more often than others who either stay in or out. so how is the weather in your world?

I am really trying to get serious with the Kick Butt challenge. Something has to click in my weird little brain. I really think the not setting a number on how much weight I want to lose might do the trick. It reduces the overall disappointment of not meeting a goal because no goal was set. It did that make sense to anyone but me? Oh well, got to finish emails, love ya Marcie

Greetings, ladies!

Marcie, were you able to start using your treadmill this weekend, or is your knee not THAT much improved?

Mona, I'm so sorry to read about your leg getting "funny" again! I hope the dermatologist has good ideas and I'm praying for your leg to heal up once and for all.

Sue, I'm glad to read about your mom doing better. And you sound ready and organized for the Kick Butt Challenge--you're an inspiration!

Well, today is the start of the Kick Butt Challenge. I'll see...

emoticon Hello ladies!

Marcie, thanks for the the info about the Glucosamine and Chondroitin. I was thinking the doctor would recommend a dosage higher than 1000 mg daily--although that's expensive enough! Did he/she recommend a specific brand or combo? I'm buying my Glucosamine from hcbl.com .

I'm so glad that your knee is almost pain free. I get that clicking noise sometimes too. And it's tough to get tough when someone is offering takeout or dinner out when you're exhausted from work!

I'm still wondering what that gazelle is, Mona...

Sue, that's wonderful that you've already lost 3 of those 5 vacation water lbs!!

So far I'm doing well this week. Getting in some exercise, although I'm disappointed to realize that I still can't do even 10 minutes of lower body cardio without paying for it with pain the next day. And unless I go on a food rampage before morning, I'll have made 4/7 this week. I hope I'm not jinxing my official start on August 17.

Have a great Thursday, everyone!

emoticon Everyone seems to be doing great today. My blood sugar is back to normal, thank goodness. Knee is feeling much better, almost no pain. It still clicks when I walk though. I am taking 1000mcg of gloucosamine daily. The glocosamine condroitin combination is very expensive and is not a prescription so it is all out of pocket.

I think my BF is going to be my biggest problem. He means well when he offers to do take out or go out to dinner. He thinks he is making my life easier by me not having to cook. I'm going to have to start turning his generous offers down or really change what I do eat when he tries to show he loves me. But some nights I really don't feel like cooking. I love my crock pot! yOu name it and I'll throw it in it and call it dinner. When I get home all I have to do is fix side dishes. Or he could cook dinner once in awhile except this time of year I get home before him. In the winter he is usually home before me and if I tell him what to cook he will at least start it. He needs to lose quite a bit of weight too.

All right ladies let's do this ! There is power in numbers! Have great tuesday ladies. Love ya Marcie

Morning ladies, hope you are well this morning (well as I write this you are all probably snoring..or should be)

Marcie, pleased your knees are feeling a bit easier, we are all interested in anything that helps that problem.

Mona well done on the 20 minutes on the gazelle

Pam, you are sooo funny saying well done and then what is it?? I had to ask the first time someone mentioned it as well.

Have lost 3 of the 5 lbs already and ankles swelling is going down so hope to have lost the other 2 by Friday

Off to get breakfast now

Hello Ladies! emoticon

Aw, POOP! I had a long message typed in and then SparkPeople blew it away because I hit some wrong key. I don't feel like typing it all again.

Abridged version:

SUE, only gaining 5 lbs of mostly water weight on vacation is pretty good. GOOD JOB!
emoticon
MONA, 20 minutes on the gazelle yesterday is a lot. GOOD JOB! Ummm... What's a gazelle?
emoticon
MARCIE, I'm so glad that:
1) You don't need knee surgery,
2) The injection is helping already, and
3) Your blood sugar is coming back down after that nasty spike from the injection.
emoticon
MARCIE, What amounts of Glucosamine and Chondroitin did the doctor say you should take each day? I'm interested for MY knees. I've been taking Glucosamine and MSM for the last month and it seems to be starting to help my knees a little.
emoticon
Heh. No, Marcie, I'm not up to the Kick Butt challenge, but I've signed up anyway. To get ready, I'm trying to trick myself into better behavior. I'd noticed the 4/7 Challenge wasn't working for me this last month because whenever I went over my goal range for the day I threw in the towel and ate anything I wanted (and recorded it). I was only managing 3/7 with high weekly averages. So last week I temporarily moved my goal range up 300 calories, closer to maintenance. I managed a 4/7 week last week, only went nuts one day, and the weekly average was better. Whatever it takes...

Hugs,

Hi all,

The knee is feeling better, getting back on the treadmill by weekend. One little complication from the injection though. It made my sugar go WAY up like 300 and i never get readings like that. It also gave the sweats, thought I was having hot flashes but today they have pretty much subsided and the sugar reading was down to 153 today. That's still a little high but it is going back down to normal.

I signed up for the Kick Butt challenge ladies, so go us! Love ya Marcie

I am just walking on my gazelle. I did 20 minutes today and felt good. I will add as I can. Just do not want to get worn out before I really get going.

I am so glad you are getting some results for your knee Marcie. Does the shot seem to be helping. They say if you feel it right away improving there is a good chance it will give you some relief. Hope that is the case for you.

Glad you are moving ahead Pam. Sure hope they get everything in order for you--plus get a check!!! I wish I was wasting away.

We really never set any goals for kick butt other than just getting back on track. For me that was posting food and exercise.

Good to see everyone.

Hugs, Mona

Love the hat Sue! I am good to go for the 8/17 kick butt challenge. But I am not sure what it is! Can someone clue me in? And where are we going to post for it?

I want to update the knee situation. Today the ortho doctor said it was very mild arthritis considering I am diabetic, middle age and overweight. He did n't recommend surgery (yeah) and gave me a cortisone injection. It is ortheo arthritis not rheumatoid. The space between my knee cap and the bones of my leg is half the size of the one in my good leg. That's why it "clicks" when I walk. He said to keep taking the gloucosimine which I have just started taking. So i will be back on the treadmill by weekend.

Pam are you up to this challenge?
Chat soon everyone have a good week! Love ya Marcie

Welcome back, Sue! I love your "hat" in your profile pic. Sounds like you had a good vacation, but how weird there were no freggies.

August 17 Butt Kicking (or August 14): My eating and especially exercise are really erratic and crappy lately. I'm still looking for my motivation. I know I left it around here somewhere... I probably put it in A Really Good Place. I have one week to find it.

I think I finally have my separation pay problem straightened out. I'll know this Friday if/when I see a check. The new battle is that I applied for COBRA for my health insurance, and today my ex-company sends me information about applying for RETIREE insurance. Ummm... Just turned 56 and was laid off, not retired, you idiots.

Marcie, I'm glad that your knee is feeling a bit better. Microscopic surgery doesn't sound as scary as it could be. *phew* And for someone who is S___ and S___ enough to go to work with pneumonia and a 103 fever, surgery is probably the only way to force you to take the rest you need. (S____ and S____ does NOT stand for "stoic" [doctor's term] and "stubborn" [your term]. Fill in the blanks for other "s" terms.)
emoticon

Mona, are you still charging ahead and "wasting away?" Did you start exercising today? What exercise are you doing, as you put your Wii Fit away?

Hugs,
~ Pam

Hello girls, good to see you. Pam great to see you as well.
Are we all raring to go for the August 17th? I weigh in on Fridays so will start this Friday (14th) Think I am going to use WW points as well Mona as I always found them easy to count. Am starting to track fitness and food from today. Scales say I put on 5 lbs while away but am waiting for Friday as some is water weight we were on a bus 3 days, at least 8 hours first 2 days and 10 hours yesterday and my ankles are big enough for 4 people..lol

Looking forward to fruit and veggies as we had none for 10 days, they don't seem to serve them in Austrian hotels, very strange, really missed them.

Will be back when I have caught up, have a great Monday see you soon

hugs
sue

Hello ladies,

pam so nice to have you back and you sound like you are in a better frame of mind. How did the job thing work out?

Mona here is a emoticon and a emoticon for you! I hope your positive thinking power rubs off on me.

I think part of my problem this week was those good old hormonal swings I still get every month along with Aunt Flo. I think they are getting worse. Maybe this is my menopause, not hot flashes or night sweats just Dr. Jekyll/ Ms. Hyde. Knee is a little better. they are talking microscopic surgery to clean it up. In a strange way I am looking forward to having a little time off from work legitimately.

I am trying to gear up for our 8/17 kick butt challenge. I will weigh in that day. My 52nd birthday is the 19th so let's just call it the start of a new year.

hang in ladies, we will survive and succeed!!!!!
Love ya Marcie

Hi!! So good to hear from you Pam!! Glad you have found something that gives you a bit of relief for your knee. I sure hope you can too Marcie!!

I was so happy to lose 3.4 pounds this week. I am working a 7/7 week and now have a 5/7. I knew I had to get REALLY serious again.

And I have gone back to my old counting points with WW and then adding my food to the Spark nutrition page. Feels like a full time job--but I guess in fact it is. My friend Stellarino does this and she said it really helps her--she's lost 100 pounds so I took her word for it!! :) She is a great person. It will get easier as I get used to it.

YES!! I made a comment on here Tuesday after going to the commissary--it sure is expensive to eat healthy. I was surprised how high the cost of produce was--especially what is grown right here in SC. I need to make a trip to the farmer's market.

I will be exercising in the house Pam. I don't like to even go outside for the mail. It is really nice in the mornings but we are looking at heat back in the triple digits.

It feels good to be back on track. Now if I can continue to think this way!! But I know my

emoticon are here for me no matter what and I AM going to do this.

Take care and I miss you guys. Have a great weekend.

Hugs, Mona

Good evening, ladies!

Marcie, good luck with the orthopedic doctor on Monday! Have you found a wrap for your knee that works? My doctor recommended either wrapping an ace bandage or getting one of those sleeve style knee braces. I told him that ace bandages or sleeve braces just roll right down and he said, "Yeah, they'll tend to do that." I also had trouble that no matter how many times I tried, my ace bandage wrapping always looked backwards from the instruction drawing. I've ended up using a thigh-high compression sock (they even make them to snap on a belt so they stay up) underneath an ACE knee stabilizer that attaches with 3 velcro straps instead of needing to slide up my leg. I look like a dork, but it helps a lot. So does mineral ice. I hope you've found something better, Marcie!

You have a lot on your emotional plate right now Marcie, no wonder you're having trouble getting back on track! But you'll get there, we know you will. August 17 is coming up and it'll be easier for us to get on track then, because we've had some time for us to mentally prepare.

Wow, Mona, you're doing GREAT! Getting a jump on us for the August 17 butt-kicking, huh?
emoticon
And you're planning to add exercise in starting on Monday, 8/10? With as hot as it's been for you, that's gotta be hard to make yourself do. Soooo... You're planning to be running at 100% with all cylinders firing by 8/17, and I'm just hoping I'll be ready to put my hand on the ignition key. Ah well. Just as long as I can get my "riding lawnmower" to run on 8/17, I'll be pleased.

So are you broke from buying mostly healthy foods, Mona? I've been trying to buy fresh fruits and veggies because they're in season and yummy, but wow! What a chunk out of the food budget!

On August 17 (probably Sunday, August 16), I'll weigh in for kicking-butt and see how low I've sunk while "treading water." I've only been managing 3/7 on eating during July, and the other 4 days per week have been pretty out there. My exercise has gone to pot. I've only been exercising every other day for the last week and a half, and only 10 - 25 minutes when I do.

On the plus side, for that same 1 1/2 weeks, I've been doing better with my left knee. I've been able to move around without using my cane, without any increase in pain--which has me moving around a lot more, even though it doesn't qualify as "exercise." I don't know that my knee is actually healing, but it's a little more manageable. Alas, the additional activity shows that my RIGHT knee, while not "injured", is not a happy camper. Better start doing my knee exercises again. Why, oh, why did my doctor give me knee exercises that I have to get on the floor to do?? Probably because I can feel it in my legs a lot more compared to doing the same thing while sitting in a chair... *sigh*

I have a new TV! The sound was going out on my TV, and my son bought me a new one!! It was delivered today, and we love it. I think my son is hoping I'll pay him back when finances are better for me, but he's paid for it for now. YAY!

Have a great Friday, everyone! Hey, when does Sue get back from vacation?

Hugs,
~ Pam

Hi Marcie I am finally getting back on track "food" wise. I have a 4/7 week going. Will try some exercise starting Monday.

It has been so hot here and it just seems like I cannot get all the things done I need to do. But I keep plugging away.

I will say a prayer you have a good doctor report.

I think a lot of people are waiting for "summer" to end and get back on track. I will be glad when Pam can get back too. Miss you my friend!!

Hope Sue is enjoying her holiday.

Well I have some cleaning to do so I better get with it. Have a good day and it is good to hear from you.

Hugs, Mona

Hi Mona, I am here. Worked the late shift yesterday and ended up working until 9 PM instead of 8. Up at 5 Am today for work at 7 AM. Yeah I love Tuesdays and WEdnesdays. Work is still chaotic. It's full moon here and usually that effects the mentally unstable (like my clietns) but this month I think it's affecting the upper management!

Have an appointment with the orthopedic doctor on Monday at 9AM. So we will see what he says about the knee.

I just can't get back on track lately. Very discouraged because of the knee. Stress at work just takes over my entire life. I always manage to have some kind of escuse. Chat more later, didn't check emails yesterday and had 90! o back to them, love ya Marcie

A quick note and I am off to Bible study.

I am happy to say I am 3/7 this week. I set my goal high as I need to be 100% to get back in the groove.

Went grocery shopping yesterday and tried to buy mostly healthy food. It sure costs more to be healthy!!!

How are you guys doing? Think of you every day. Can't wait to see everyone back-- emoticon I am lonely!!!

Have a great day ladies!!

emoticon Pam is back! Missed you sooo much my dear. I can join the August 17th " Kick Butt" challenge. Don't do much for my birthday anyways. BF doesn't do birthdays and my girls aren't close so I will just quietly get one year older. Interesting little fact - my brother's birthday is the 8th, he will be 51, for 10 days (the 8th thru the 19th) we are both the same age. When we were kids we used to say we were "twins" for that time.

Update on the knee. Had an MRI yesterday. The results were good news and bad news. Good news - no structural damages. Bad news - arthritis, fluid on the knee, cysts, and wear on the patella because of my weight. I am being referred to an orthopedic for possible microscopic surgery to "clean it up". recommended I take a week off of work to rest it and to start taking gloucosamine-condrotin. I really can't take this coming week off. I have a treatment plan due on Thursday. I'm suppose to be wrapping it with an ace bandage but have difficulty putting it on myself, my knee feels too fat for it. I may see what other type of wraps or supports are available. I can't take anti-inflammatory meds due to my heart condition so it's only tylenol for me. So I guess I won't be on the treadmill any time soon. As far as taking off work, I may need those sick days when I end up with the surgery. I think I will try to tough it out. My doctor accuses me of being Stoic, like the time I worked with a fever of 103 and pneumonia. I am French and stubborn.

So Pam, my thoughts and prayers are with you. It will all work out in time. Please check in once in awhile so we can bestow some of our love and good wishes on you.

Have a good weekend all. Love ya, Marcie

Yeah!!! I sure like to see it when you are here.

You pretty much have it all up to date. And I am going to stick to my August 17 date. I would love for you to join me. I think Sue is going to do it too and we can all throw in some thoughts as what to do--but I have to get with it or I am going to blow all my hard work.

Back on April 15--my birthday is when I started to play around. And in all honesty I have not gotten back 100% since. I think I had three "food" events for my birthday--dumb! dumb! dumb!

Take care Pam and it is so good to hear from you.

Hope you are feeling better too, Marcie. Take care!!

Greetings!

Dropping by again. I miss the team, but right now it would just be too much time and stress to post regularly.

I see that:
1) Sue is on vacation,

2) Mona's leg is slowly healing, she's been painting up a storm, & she has designated August 17 as her "kick butt" day, and

3) Marcie's knee is still whacked & her life is too stressed out.

Marcie, I pray things get smoother for you SOON! And it sure is hard to find interesting, convenient exercise when putting weight on your knee is bad, isn't it? I hope Coach Dean's broken ankle promotes SparkPeople to post more non-weight bearing cardio! I reeeaaally hope you can get your knee problem assessed and treated without needing to rob a bank to pay for it.

Mona, August 17 sounds like a wonderful "kick butt" day! May I join you? I've been thrashing around, more-or-less treading water, but August 17 seems like a perfect deadline to have my act together to start moving forward.

Hmmm... Marcie's birthday is August 19, so she might prefer to hold off any "butt kicking" until August 20...

Hugs,
~ Pam P.

Hi Ladies!

Mona already heard this, but I thought I'd post to the thread, too.

I'm still around, but right now I'm really busy with:

a) Fighting my ex-company for my promised severance pay while unemployment is denying benefits because I'm supposed to be getting severance pay. (I know everything will work out eventually, but what do I live off of in the meantime?), and

b) Nurturing my team, Everything Japanese. I'm supposed to be CO-leader, but the original leader has been MIA for over 4 months. We're a small, inactive team, but I'm trying to turn that around. Right now I've got some members talking to ME, but they're not talking to each other yet. So all of my Spark time has been devoted to that team.

Weight-wise, I'm more-or-less treading water. I haven't lost anything new in the last month, exercise is hanging in there but not what it should be, and eating is erratic.

My knee has recovered from the extra strain and pain of the convention, but it isn't healing. Guess I'll have to get that MRI one of these months and get treatment/repairs started. Rumor has it from someone who also had a torn meniscus in the knee that those don't heal by themselves.

I'll continue to be MIA for a while. I hope everyone does well and gets well!

Hugs,
~ Pam

Hello ladies

Marcie, sorry to hear you are having a rough time, it won't last forever, I finally got through the other side halfway through April this year..I am 56 now. Also menopause can cause aching joints as well, try to get plenty of oily fish or if you don't like that get some daily cod liver oil tablets to help with joints

Mona, I think we will all be ready to start again in a few weeks..supposed to be easier in summer with lots of fresh fruit and veg around, plus salads, but it has been a strange year. We have had one good week weather wise and the rest is rain, my feet are webbed and I am starting to quack..lol

When I get back, we will get our heads together for another challenge in September..some of the newer members seem keen

see you on 10th August..be as good as you can

hugs
sue

You probably should be very careful with your knee Marcie.

I have a doctor that tells me some of my problems COULD be weight related and losing weight will definitely help, but not to be blaming weight for everything. If there is something else going on they need to know what it is. He is a wonderful doctor.

I am through it all Marcie. I had a hysterectomy when I was 51 and went on hormones for just a bit--had all the symptoms but decided against taking any meds and it really wasn't too, too bad. I know some people have a lot rougher time than I did. But glad it is over.

Hope your work calms down and isn't so stressful.

I am really trying to keep up the program but I have set that Aug 17 as my "kick butt" date.

Did you see where Stellerino reached 100 pounds lost? She is such a sweetheart and lives not too far from me. She is amazing. And I am sure hoping vicky will be back with us when school starts. She has done wonderful too.

Have a good day (night) and talk to you tomorrow.

Hugs, Mona

I am guilty of being MIA too. Have not heard from Pam or checked her blog lately either. She really kept me on track too. I am way off track and just can't get back into it. Work has gotten crazy and stressful again. My knee is hurting worse than ever I guess I will have to go get that MRI. I am afraid to do the treadmill and make it worse. I guess I am really afraid that they are going to tell me it is because of my weight. I am a little down right now. It's probably hormonal. I may not be in menopause yet but my hormone levels must be off whack. I'm more emotional the week before and tired. I'll be 52 next month and am soooo ready for menopause. Chat tomoorrow love ya Marcie

Hi!! Sorry I have been MIA but between family coming and going and getting some work done on the house it has been crazy. My youngest goes back to FL on Friday so maybe I can get back to a bit of "normal"--whatever that is.

Have you had a chance to talk to Pam, Marcie?? I sure do miss her and hope everything is okay. She has been a real help to me and I wish I could do something for her. If you talk to her please pass along my love and best wishes.

How are you doing? It is still so hot and humid here. We have been getting a bit of rain but not all that much.

Are you using your treadmill? I have been awful with both my eating and exercise. Told Sue I will be ready for some new challenges after the middle of August.

Take care my friend and hope all is well with you.

Hi everyone

Taking a day off today--well I am doing laundry. I am so tired from painting. PHEW!

Have people coming to pressure wash the outside of our house and paint the trim today and then on Tuesday they start my guest bathroom. DH's son and three kids are coming Wed so it shoud be interesting. They are going down to the campground Thursday morning. NO showers here so they will have to shower down there. Bad timing but such is life.

Hope everyone has a good day. Take care.

Hang in there with your company and the state, it will all work out. I hope you haven't tried to "eat" your problem. That won't help and it will probably give you really bad indigestion especially if you are dealing with state government! (LOL)

We are all waiting to hear about your convention though. Any pics of you and your son in your outfits? (I want to say costumes but I know that is wrong). How did your pets make out on your vacation?

Well we are all sending you emoticon and emoticon and I for one really really did miss chatting with you so come on back. You can vent, whine or whatever you need to do to stay sane with us. We've all been is similar situations. Love ya Marcie

I'm back from the convention; it was fun.

I'm having a lot of problems with my company not wanting to pay my promised severance package and the state not paying unemployment because I'm SUPPOSED to be getting a severance package. As result, I don't feel like chatting these days, so I'm just letting you know I'm okay.

You're all doing great!

Hugs,
~ Pam

Mona, I checked out Pam's page and nothing there about when she comes back. I hope she is okay.

I never totally give up. I may take a little break but I can't just give up. To totally give up would be like signing my own death warrent. And I am not suicidal. If I ate what I wanted and didn't make any effort to move off the couch I would weigh about 500 pounds and be house bound with my diabetes running wild and my high blood pressure and cholesterol sky high. When I think about giving up totally forever I think of dying and i'm not ready to pull the dirt over my face quite yet!

I woke up this morning with the knee hurting so passed on the treadmill. Am off work tomorrow so will get on it then. I really want to make it a habit.

Will chat more later, love ya Marcie

Marcie, I love the saying about the rocking horse..and so true
Glad your knee feels better and hope you can get on the treadmill, I know you were starting to get into it

Mona, lovely to talk to you last night(afternoon for you..lol) and you sounded so young and lovely

We aren't old..just older than we were.

Dad is 80 on Oct 1st and he says you think you will be old at 65, but when you get there..OLD is always 10 years in front of what you are now..I like that and am going to say that too..lol

We have all been MIA with food and exercise lately, but we will get back into it, now we don't quit, we just get back in there, it may be slow but it is getting there.

I said to Mona, think I will wait now until after our holiday, but we don't go for 2 weeks so will be good those 2 weeks at least. When away we are going to do some walking up mountains if we can..and come down on the cable car as going down steep mountains is murder on the knees.

Have a good Wednesday, hurry back Pam, you are missed

hugs
sue

I am right there with you, Marcie. I also get so tired of fighting feeling hungry, not doing the exercise and then feeling guilty. But I have NOT given up this time which for me is a big improvment.

I always start off with a bang and do so well. Then I start goofing off and then I quit. Until the next time. Usually a few pounds heavier and more depressed about the whole thing.

I have a red and green plaid skirt in my family tartan print that I got for Christmas about 7 years ago. I had promised myself that I would wear that skirt this Christmas. Well I really need to get with it NOW if that is going to happen.

I love to rant and rave when I am mad at myself. So forgive me also!!

We'll give each other a kick and move forward. Thank you for the forgiveness angel. She is really cute!!

Love ya, Mona

emoticon I am giving you the "Forgiveness Fairy". All is forgiven, start fresh tomorrow. We've have all done it more than once, after all we are just mere mortals.

I don't know when Pam gets back but I sure do miss her. I need a swift kick in the backside myself. I don't know about you but I just get tired of always watching what I eat, of beating myself up for not exercising, for not trying harder, for not being as committed as I want to be and should be. The whole mess is just tiring.

I think the knee is better enough to get back on the treadmill. Maybe that will motivate me. I do kind of like doing it. I put my earphones to my MP3 player in and challenge myself to do just a little better than the last time.

I really want to lose some weight before our next vacation which won't be until fall. Got a birthday next month. Yippee, 52. I can't be that old. then I stop and think my Mom is 75, my daughters are 32 and 27. Dang I AM OLD! when did that happen? Oh well, enough rambling. I hope you don't mind my rambling. Pam and I use this team forum to vent a lot and ramble some how it makes us feel better and helps put things in perspective.

I might go to Pam's SP page to see if it says when she is due back amongst us. Chat later, love ya Marcie

I have NOT been good Marcie. When does Pam get back to whip us into shape?? I hope she is having a fun time but will be glad to see her back.

DH and I are painting our bedroom. It is a very dark grey/blue and I want to paint it a mushroom color so we have had to do two coats of primer first. We should finish with it tomorrow and then get started on the real color. Just taking our time but still is tiring.

We both decided if we need something else painted we will have someone do it.

Hope all is well with you. Take care.

Hugs, Mona

Hello ladies,

I hope pam is having a great time at her convention.

Sorry to here you've got a lot to worry about Sue. Just ask yourself when you find yourself raching for a comfort food if eating it will help the person you are concerned about or will it help you achieve your goals?

Here's a cute saying for you;

Worry is like a rocking chair,
it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere!

Took walk on beach with a client today and logged my food. I'm always good at the beginning of the week but fade as the week goes along. Any cures for that ladies?

Have a good tuesday ladies, love ya Marcie

Mona, a kisscurl is what you have on your new photo..lol. At the side of yur ear where it has curled round in a semi circle like a half smile, we call a kiss curl over here as if it curled just where you were kissed on the cheek.

I don't go away for another 4 weeks(today) so time for you to be ready for a break from me..lol

Yes, I will have a cuppa with you all tomorrow in aid of the famous tea party, let's not mention which side I was on..lol..we are allies again now.

I won't set you off with the weather but **gulp** over 100 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Can you save washing up water or bath water to water your gardens? That's what we have done in the past when we have been on a hose pipe ban, every little helps, and if it is soapy water helps get rid of aphids at the same time..lol

Glad you feel your leg is looking a little better, but keep a close eye on it, I will pray that it heals very soon

I have discovered that if I give up for a second on watching what I have or no exercise, the weight just goes straight back on...well I am NOT being strict on holiday, I will be good before we go from now but those 10 days I am on holiday, and that is that..lol

Stopped raining here at 4 so we had 7 hours of steady rain today and the atmosphere is so fresh it is lovely, I will try to send you some, not too much just enough

hugs

Don't know why I marked my calenday July 19 for Pam's birthday??? But I am always a bit "off" with dates.

I am SOSOSOSOSOSSO happy you are back, Sue. Will surely miss you when you go on your vacation. BUT--what in the world is a kisscurl?????

I just love UK!! So I will have a cuppa on Saturday in celebration of all my wonderful Spark sisters!! Especially YOU!!!!

My leg looks a wee bit better today. I am taking the weekend to relax it and try and get it healed. One good thing about military is that they have an urgent care on base and if I needed to I could go there. But it is always insane so I wouldn't go unless my leg started to fall off.

I promised not to complain about the heat so I will just say every day at or above 100 is challenging.

I am going to officially weigh Monday--just for this week. I am afraid that if I am down even a pound I will think I can eat, eat, eat. And what I want to do is exercise, exercise, exercise.

I am watering my front yard. I see the first sign of mandatory watering in the paper today. I will not worry about the back yard but I hate to lose what little progress we made out front. Plus I will try to keep my Japanese Maples from burning up!!

Marcie--enjoy your three day weekend. You surely deserve it!!!

Miss you Pam! Hope you are having a GREAT time!!

Gotta go. Have a great day everyone.

have I missed Pam's birthday while I was off at the parents? Sorry, Happy Belated Birthday Pam, hope it was a good one emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon , you can still have your pressies..lol

Mona, sorry you are having trouble with your leg still, will pray it eases enough that you don't need to go back to the dr, BUT, if it is bad promise you will???
Yesterday (Thursday) was our hottest day, about 92 and very humid, I was dripping waiting for the bus back home, pleasant thought. It has started raining this morning and think it will be here most of the day and it feels cooler.
Save me a job watering the plants. I just picked a load of peas and carrots for dinner, some of the carrots are funny shapes and twisted round..lol
No, funnily enough we don't celebrate the 4th of July..lol..we may have a cup of tea..lol. I still don't know why you wanted to leave us????? We are lovely, well if you don't look at the politicians..lol
Have to get back into the exercise, not been in the mood with the heat, didn't think it that safe to be getting even hotter.

Marcie, how are you?
Hope things go well for you on Monday(not talking about that..lol)
Shame you won't see much of the BF this weekend but with his job you need the weather, catch up on some reading and relax

Well, better go and catch up on e mails and change my profile pic
Have a good weekend

I am just a worn out record....hot, hot, hot here again today. We actually had about 4 minutes of rain last night around 11:00. But of course it really didn't do anything. I will be out early in the morning watering my front yard.

Sounds like a busy weekend for you and BF. Make sure you have some fun too!!

We are going to just say home. I am babying my leg. I think it is a bit better tonight--it is not burning and itchy like it was last night. I got my blood work done today so hopefully if there is any kind of major infection it will show up in that. I do NOT think there is. It is just the weirdest thing.

I was in London a few years back and was so surprised that they didn't do anything for the Fourth---DUH!!!! I guess they wouldn't!!
Have to do a few more e-mails and then off to bed. Take care Marcie and I am hoping for a better week next week too. I have finished 4/5 good days this week.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy BIrthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Pam, Happy Birthday to you!!!! And many more!

Hope you had a good birthday Pam dear. I hope your family treated you like a queen and that you got lots of great presents!

TGIF! Today we had more nasty thunderstorms, lightening, and torrential rain. Looks like I won't see BF much this weekend. He'll be mowing any time the sun shines and the rain doesn't come down. That's okay, I'll just do some cleaning, get on the treadmill a time or two or three, pay my bills, visit Mom, read a book. If I'm lucky I might get his undivided attention for a few hours when he's not exhausted.

The big question at work today was if my boss will be back on Monday. No one knows, not even the guy whose been running the place. He's getting tired of doing his job and the bosses for just his own salary. We kind of don't want him to come back. The stress level has been managable with out his added presence. I'll keep you all posted on thet little saga but I'm not going to think about it until Monday morning!

Mona, baby that leg. You are the best judge of how much is too much. You don't want to make it any worse.

Sue I know this isn't a holiday weekend for you but I hope you enjoy yours anyways.

i'll say it again, Monday starts a new week and maybe this one will end better than this one. Chat later, love ya all, Marcie

I am doing good this week but NOT with the exercise. My leg is bothering me and I am doing some but kind of want to make sure there is no infection. I am like you Marcie--getting that darn exercise to be a "natural" habit is going to take some working on for me. But I WILL get there.

Made it through 3/5 today. Got my hair cut and it is once again all one color. I just hate the dark and the grey and then the really light shade I had on it . I did it more of a brownish/blonde. Anyway it looks better than it did.

Hope you can get some good rest during your off days.

We sure need the rain here in SC. I don't like the storms but everything is turning brown.

We are all going to make it this time, Marcie!!!

You look good on that treadmill!!!

emoticon Hey it's me I am still alive. These late shifts do not agree with me. Still not sleeping well. I didn't get on the computer at all yesterday. Had 92 emails today to wade through. I did get on the treadmill the other day and did 20 minutes. My plan to get on before work didn't work out. I have not logged food but have stayed on track. I think I will brave the scale tomorrow. It's going to take me time to make the treadmill a habit.

we had crazy weather today! Severe thunder and lightening, torrential rain, hail, flooding. We had one nice sunny day and back to the dang drab and dreary. Hopefully this weekend will be better.

One more day of work and then a 3 day weekend. emoticon

hang in there ladies, you all sound like you are doing very well. I'll get my act together eventually. love ya Marcie

Going to get my haircut and colored this afternoon--nothing drastic just try and get it to one color again. hehehe

Started a new book yesterday--author Tracie Petersen. It is a pre-civil war setting in Philadelphia. Will let you know if I like it. Seems pretty good--the intro has kept me reading and that is a good sign.

Off to the base for groceries tomorrow. Also for my yearly blood work. I cannot believe that the place on my leg where they removed the cancerous lesion is getting infected. It was totally healed over. And I have done NOTHING to it. I am going to work on it over the weekend but if it shows no signs of improvement off to the doctor's--again!!!!

Say a prayer please!!!

Have a great day everyone. It sure is quiet her this week.

Made it through 2/5 and NO eating after 7:30. I am feeling hungry this week for some reason--I know I am NOT.

How is the treadmill, Marcie. I didn't do the Wii today. My legs hurt so bad from those squats that I decided to try it tomorrow. I know I will mess up my 30 day challenge but I am going to do what I can.

Have a good day everyone.

Sure miss you Pam!!

I think I got it added right. I did find the Wii intensity settings and put it on low intensity. I cannot believe you do the high!!! I cannot get through the low totally!

Once I get used to the 30 day workout I want you to tell me how to get just a twenty minute walk/jog session on there. Can you also dance?? Hate to push too many buttons now that I have this one thing working. hehehe

Is Pam at her convention??

I had a really good day yesterday. So I am 1/5 for this weeks challenge. And I did NOT eat after 7:30.

Have a good day!!

Mona, have sent you a couple of sparkmails about getting the wii into fitness tracker, it is in there already if you go to add cardio and click on browse and scroll down the left hand box that says walking/running to start, go to other exercises and scroll down to wii high and/or low intensity, add some minutes and then add to your favourites

Marcie, you certainly needed the 3 hour sleep, that is more important than the treadmill that you get your rest

I watered the garden this morning, took 30 minutes up and down with the watering can(cardio and strength..lol) and then hung out the washing. As soon as I got in it started pouring, we had one of the showers they said we may get..lol. Hoping to put washing back out later

How are you Pam?

hope we all have a good week, Marcie, rest when you can don't work too hard

hugs

Glad to see you Marcie!! This has been a really busy month for you!! Hope your work calms down a bit. So far I am doing good with both exercise and food.

I know last week with being so busy I did NOT do well with anything really. Glad I can get back to it this week.

emoticon Hello ladies,

I have not fallen off the face of the earth. Just had to work this weekend and had to go to a Wedding shower dinner on Saturday night. Was off friday and was going to take a "little" nap and slept for 3 hours! BF says I must have need it. Work has been crazy too. Instead of having to bill 5 hours a day we have to bill 6 until the end of the month. This results in no real down time for lunch or relaxing. when work gets hectic I have a hard time sleeping well. I can't seem to turn off my mind, what I did all day and what I have to do the next day keeps going around and around.

I have not logged food or been on the treadmill in the last few days. But will get on today. I am working that awful late shift (11:30 AM to 8 PM) on Tuesday and Wednesday so my goal is to get on before I go to work. I put a pork loin in the crockpot today and hopefully I can take some to work for my dinner rather than eat takeout.

Good luck with the Wii, becareful and don't over do it. I'll get back on later this evening . I haven't been on the computer in 3 days so i must get back to my 82 emails! Love ya Marcie

I am so proud of DH and self. We found how to change the date on the Wii and got the 30 day challenge set up. I am going to LOVE it but it will take me time to build up to it. My trainer at PT this morning told me to use a chair for the squats. And I did much better. I love the walking and jogging--and also using the resistance band. How do you add this into your exercise Sue. I cannot believe I have 50 minutes of exercise for one day.

I am also doing well with my eating. I think I posted that I am going back to reduced carbs this week again--my lowest number on my nutrional chart.

Also started a great Bible study on Healthy Summer Living. It lasts 6 weeks. There is another team--Walking In Faith--that is doing the First Place Bible studies and it will be a great place to share.

So now I have my physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental "self" covered--HOW CAN I FAIL???

Doing the 5/7 again this week. I love my Spark friends and teams!!

Wow!! Sue!! 95 is VERY hot for you guys. We are looking at 90's all week again.

I have bad dreams sometimes too Sue, and they are so upsetting. Fortunately I don't have them often.

I did my exercises today all ready too and Dennis and I are going to see if we can re-set the Wii. He just went upstairs to crank up the AC.

Think I will do some chicken for supper. I am going to try my limited carbs again this week and NOT eat after 7:30. That is how I lost the 6 pounds. But I want to do my exercises every day too this week. I also started doing a First Place Bible study called Healthy Summer Living. It is a six week program and I have really committed to it. There is a site here at Sparks with several other ladies doing Bible studies from First Place too. So it will be nice to share some of our thoughts.

Think I will try some painting tomorrow. I Have to get with it. I have all my pretty new bedroom stuff and can't use it until I paint. Plus I want to get my carpet but that is totally out until the painting is done. But now that the doctor appointments are past I think I can get some things done.

Have a good day everyone. How is the treadmill working Marcie??
