My favorites back in college: --a chili at Wendy's and a cheddar bagel from Manhatten Bagel that was right next store--healthy lunch/dinner for $1.50 when I was working in the CAC labs in Hammond Building --subs at McClanahan's--$2.50 for a sub with good quality lean turkey, veggies, and mustard --That's A Wrap (no longer there)
Some options that I have found: Fiddlehead, on College near Irvings and Herwig's, is an excellent make-your-own salad place. A tad pricey ($8-10) but you get a giant salad that can be as healthy (or unhealthy) as you want it. If you are looking for low carb options Z-Bar/The Deli has an excellent Bunless Burger plate where the patty comes out on a nice bed of lettuce. And Irving's has a decent selection of salads, smoothies, and fruit cup type things that are relatively easy to grab and go.
Boy that's not much of a list, lol. I mostly just hit the farmer's market and cook for myself. :)
I don't know about the rest of you, but every time I make my pilgrimage to State College (about 4 times a year, once per season), I have a really difficult time finding places to eat that aren't going to break the calorie bank. So far the only thing I've found is Mamma Mia's pizza on College Ave- and the only reason they are good is because I know the chef and he'll make me something without using the fryer! I wish there was something easy AND healthy!
