I enjoy watching certain TV shows, so I made a rule for myself that I cannot watch TV sitting on the couch. Instead, I use that time to jog in place on my rebounder (mini-trampoline) or for my strength training. If I am watching TV for more than one hour, I allow myself to sit only after 60 minutes of activity.
If 60 minutes is too much, you could set a shorter goal and work up to a longer amount.
I love this trick, as I can enjoy TV without being a couch potato!
