I enjoy counting my glasses of water and my number of fruits & veggies eaten on the My Nutrition Tracker page. It's ever so satisfying to make the water spill over the lip of the glass (grin).

I enjoy watching certain TV shows, so I made a rule for myself that I cannot watch TV sitting on the couch. Instead, I use that time to jog in place on my rebounder (mini-trampoline) or for my strength training. If I am watching TV for more than one hour, I allow myself to sit only after 60 minutes of activity.

If 60 minutes is too much, you could set a shorter goal and work up to a longer amount.

I love this trick, as I can enjoy TV without being a couch potato!

I love that feature as well!

I have a couple of recurring food situations (my boss brings bagels every Wednesday, my husband makes pizza every Thursday) and it allows me to not only count it easily, but pre-plan so I know how to balance the rest of my meals.

I absolutely LOVE the food groups on the nutrition tracker. I'm a creature of habit, and I tend to eat a lot of the same meals. This helps me to not have to enter everything individually every time I eat one of my go to meals!

Shells' the water bottle idea is a good one! I bought one for home and one for work, so I don't have to cart them back and forth - and I don't forget it in one place or the other.

Good job on the portioning, too.

Keeping a water bottle with me has made a huge difference. Drinking 8 glasses seems challenging but drinking my 32 oz. bottle at least 2 times during the day is easy.

Portioning out snacks has helped too. I love Food Should Taste Good brand sweet potato chips, but I could easily eat the whole bag! So I bought a bag, but I immediately divvied up the bag into plastic baggies that were one serving each. This was I have a stopping point and don't mindlessly eat.

That's a good one Carrie having to park the car no drive thru one could even use that one for banking pharmacy any place that has a drive thru

I trick I still use I eat off of a salad plate it makes my serving size look huge that way

Another of my favorite tricks that helped me kick my fast food habit - I made a "rule" that I couldn't use the drive-thru to get food. I had to park, get out of the car, and order from a person if I was going to do it. It helped me break a habit of breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner.

One of my favorite places to hang out when I first started Spark People was my Spark Points page. I made a game of getting as many points as I could every day. It really helped me get to know the sight and getting to the next level gave me motivation.

Not so much of a trick as a 'mind game'....

Trainer told me - "you can do anything for 30 seconds"..... and it's turned out to be true. I can sprint for 30 seconds, walk on the treadmill for just a little bit longer, keep my mouth shut, etc.

One thing I want ot hit on that I did not do and I have found ot be a great tool / trick take your before pictures right now along with your measurements then as the months go on you can compare your progress trick is wear the same short & top until they just don't stay on any longer better measurement then the scale

Right now you many not have any tricks or favorite tools yet but you will as the days & months go by and this will be covered in stage one overview and we will touch on it down the road
