I have great legs. :D

This morning I was hiking a 3.6 mile trail with a new friend. A complete stranger (female) said to me, "You really have great legs. Your legs are beautiful. I noticed them when I passed you and I really have to tell you." (She had jogged past us on the hiking trail on the way up and was now passing us a second time, coming toward us.)

WOW! Made my day. Maybe even my weekend. Heck, maybe even my month!

Thank you! Most pre-work hikes are just under an hour. Today, we went 51 minutes, 1.59 miles, with an altitude gain of 551 feet. (I love my MapMyFitness cell phone app, which tells me all those great statistics!)

These victories are great, and much more interesting than counting pounds dropped! Congratulations you guys emoticon

I got some shoe inserts at the beginning of this month and my knees are finally healing. The past few days I was able to do more than I had since the start of this year.

ELYRIADANZIG, climbing eight flights of stairs without a break is awesome! Congratulations!

Are you using SP's nutrition tracker? Also, if you haven't done so, you need to set your fitness plans accurately, so that SP can calculate your calorie range.

Some people gain weight because they aren't eating enough, believe it or not, because the body shuts down to "starvation mode" where it retains *everything!*

I've done nothing but gain weight since I joined SP. My pants still fit tighter than I want.

But now I can climb the eight flights of steps at work without pausing for breath at the top like I used to. I suppose that's something, right?

Wow, what a fantastic benefit from moving. It's a gift! Who knew that moving had such a great fitness bonus. Don't forget to give yourself a rest day! (You might want to finish moving the small stuff first.)

My big NSV is that, with the help of friends, I finished moving all the big stuff to my new house next door as of last night!

The second biggest NSV is that thanks to two days of moving, according to SP, I have burned almost triple my weekly calorie-burn requirement.

Completed my 5k walk this morning! Somehow, it didn't seem too difficult. First, I walked one mile with the dogs, a loop back to my house, then left them home while I completed the remaining 2.1 miles alone. (Darling greyhounds love their walks yet have no stamina for the longer distances!)

I'm thinking that 3.1 miles once a week might be a new goal for me. Once per weekend.

I've been focused on eating more raw foods while reducing my reliance on dairy as a major protein source. Last night, I made a raw walnut pate somewhat reminiscent of a tuna salad. Contains: soaked raw walnuts, celery, onion, garlic, fresh sage from my garden, nori (seaweed) salt. It was yummy served as a filling for celery stalks! That and a large salad was dinner.

I'm getting more sleep (still interrupted though), walking a little faster, and noticing that I move better. I can go up the stairs and down without pain, in fact, I'm not limping as much. Oh, and my clothes are getting loose. Yeah!

Congratulations to Desertjulz and Shellsnbells on your successes! And Desertjulz--I liked your comment to Honeypot on her blog. We may be here for different reasons, but we're here.

My favorite pair of jeans are looser and sitting lower on my hips. I had to fold up the bottom because they where dragging on the floor too much.

I walked. Yesterday, I walked too fast and my left knee kept me awake last night. I have chondromalacia; that's spongy, disintegrating cartilage. But my grandson, Alex, just came in; his bubbling, charming little self. He's happy because it's garbage day. And who wouldn't love garbage day in my house. We know the garbage men. Ricky is the garbage man and Doug is the recycling man. And Doug gives Alex presents of little garbage trucks. And Alex loves garbage trucks! So, I'm happy.

And. I. Walked

I've gotten through my first week and had a day to think about it. I've been on a lot of diets where that weigh-in and the number on the scale was very important. But I've decided to focus on nutrition. I'm focused on what I'm eating. By using the nutrition tracker as my daily food planner, I can make sure that I have enough potassium, calcium, magnesium, etc. Some days I manage better than others, but all in all I'm really pleased that my nutrition is so much better. All those other times on all those other diets I was focusing on the wrong number!

I went to get my dog's license today and the office I needed was downstairs from where I parked. Not only did I take the stairs down, but I took them back up, as well. And I wasn't a bit out of breath! emoticon

This is a big deal for me because no matter how much I work out in other ways, stairs kill me.

Have a great day!

I agree, Kari. I cannot count the number of times I've let a bad number on the scale pivot me into a free fall of bad behavior. That's why I think NSV's are important.

I hate the scale. My scale and I have a love/hate relationship. It always says mean things to me, but for some reason I keep coming back to it week after week. Just now I was looking at it longingly, thinking maybe today it would praise me.

The size 8 jeans hanging in my closet seem to mock me quietly. However, They are so beautiful and at night I can hear it whispering "soon we will be together"

:)~ Sorry, feeling a little sarcastic today. I'd much rather see inches and body shape transformation than look at what the stupid scale tells me. The scale has never been my friend.

We've all seen it happen. We get so wrapped up in what the scale says that we forget the real reason why we're here - to be healthier humans! emoticon

So here's a thread we can use to post those little things (or big things) that happen in spite of the scale, not because of it.
