Well, it's the last day of October and I have done well. My fitness minutes are up. And yesterdays basement cleanup was a really good workout--vacuum up the water, squat to pick up full bucket, carry to big tub containing pump, empty, squat to put wet/dry vac back together and repeat. I tracked it as housecleaning.
I haven't tried as many new healthy foods and recipes in the second half of the month as in the first half-unless you count different varieties of things I am familiar with. Trader Joe's Non-fat Pumpkin Greek yogurt is at the top of that list and totally delicious! I'll have to go back and get some more if the store wasn't under water on Monday.
I also don't know if I will have any Trick-or-Treaters for my healthy-but-still-kid-friendly treats. I hope I do, the kids in this neighborhood need a little fun and normalcy right about now.
Anyway, Happy Halloween! emoticon

Only 852 fitness minutes for the month so far. Definitely not where I wanted to be. Didn't get any of my goals met this month. I have been slacking for the past two months and really need to find a way to get back on track especially with the holidays right around the corner. I can do this... I can do this...I know I can...

October has proven to be a good month for you and your weight loss tracker is there to prove it! Way to go Lora!

Awesome willpower on the candy thing. Once the bags are opened for the trick r treaters will be a true test.

Ack! It's almost the end of October. I've been doing good. My fitness minutes this month are way up--1102 so far and I have been keeping up on my strength training.
I'm slacking a little on the trying new things every week part. Unless you count the different flavors of fat free greek yogurt. LOL!
I bought 2 24-packs of treats for the ghosts and goblins on Halloween. I have not sampled a thing! emoticon

We are about halfway through the month, so here is my progress:
As of today, I have 511 fitness minutes, so I am on track for a great month in that respect. I started some light strength training again--not as much as I was doing in the early summer, but it is a start.
I have made 2 lighter versions of recipes, the Chicken & White Bean Stew and Chicken Gyros and both worked out great. I've also discovered that yogurt is a wonderful thing.
I have not yet gone shopping for trick or treat goodies. Even though I don't plan on buying candy, I don't want to have the stuff sitting around the house tempting me. I figure it will end up being pretzels or goldfish crackers, though.

Thanks for participating and all of you have set realistic goals for yourself. Remember, before starting a new exercise program and if you have health issues, please check with your doctor first. I don't want you hurting yourselves.

I haven't set any specific goals for this month. I will just try to stay on track and to get adjusted to the shorter days and to the colder weather. I have been worried about my workouts because I usually work out outside. When I work out in the house I get bored easily, but when I am outside I don't mind doing the same things or walking/running the same trails every day. So maybe that will be my challenge: Working out inside and getting used to the exercise videos on Sparkpeople.

Octobers challenge will be to get back into the swing of things. I let myself slip the entire month of September with less exercise and lots of food extra's. With the holidays coming near I need to be in control once again. So for this month I am making my goals to walk at least 15 miles a week with some jogging thrown in there too, do 20 miles a week on the recumbent bike, do ST's 3 -4 days a week, not to snack after 8pm, make healthy food choices and try to get the rest of the family on board with me. It is so hard when you are the only one in the house who is making changes.

Great idea for trick or treaters Lora!
You can do it Cheryl! I cant wait until I can run just a mile without walking.
Kelly you can do it! I will be here cheering you on like you do so many of us!!
Lets go team!!

For October, I want to try to do better with the September Challenge. In other words, I want to get my fitness minutes back up, and start back on my strength training.
My nutrition side of this challenge is this: try a new (healthy) food or recipe at least once a week. And (a very important "and") I want to find an alternative to candy for my halloween trick or treaters. Traditionally, I have had to buy halloween candy twice every year--because I ate the first batch and had to go and buy more for the kiddies. I think bags of goldfish crackers, pretzels, pirates booty or kettle corn might be a better idea. This way, even if I feel the need to sneak some, it will be less dangerous to grab one little bag of pretzels, instead of a handful of chocolate.

Since we are all on different fitness levels, creating your own personal goal(s) seems to be the best challenge for the team.

If you're new to Spark or have been away from some time and have just returned, there have been some changes made to the trackers. For those of you in the beginners mode, I encourage you to watch the 4 short videos at the link below:
