I met the challenge of tracking my food all week. However, yesterday and today I was over my calorie and fat count. I will have to watch this carefully starting tomorrow. I was not over by much and usually if that was the case I would give-up, but I just said to myself, hey you could have done worse like going to a fast food joint, have alcohol on Cinco de Mayo, or just say I quit. I did neither, so athough I met the challenge by tracking, I still need improvement, but as the saying goes, Rome was not built in a day, and following this program and making it a lifestyle change will take time, but this time I am not quitting on myself.

thanks to someone who mentioned the app for the android phone. I just got a new smart phone and perhaps that will help me to be able to get into the habit of tracking my food. I've been more mindful about what I've been eating, but i don't always have a chance to come to the website to track it. Almost ready to break out the ole pen and paper, like back in the bad old days. :)

I'm pretty sure that I've tracked everything I've eaten this week. The Iphone app has really helped. I didn't make real wise choices yesterday he nutrition guidelline numbers & at least 8 glasses of water. Looking forward to getting back on track today emoticon

I think I have this challenge figured out. I am not always the shiniest tack in the box but here goes. I have been using the food tracker but haven't figured out how to log in food that id not on plan if I slip up?? Antone able to help me with that? As fpr the water issue, I always get the water intake, just have to try to tack it every time. I have finally got myself up off the couch and walking and exercising, my sore legs can attest to that! I am losing really good so far. Just going to try to lose 2 lbs. a week. Losing more right now but I know it will slow down and don't want my expectations to sabotage me when it does. Does that make sense? Anyway, I am in.

Whoops! Just watched the video on using the food tracker and it answered my question. lol

I have been loving the food tracker. I use the android app during the day and it has really helped me to stop and think about what I'm eating. It makes me stop and say Do I really want to log this in and have to look at it. Because of that, Ive made some healthier choices..apple instead of a snickers. The apple cured my sweet craving and i felt alot better about the choice afterwards.

I'm in! I have been tracking my food/calories in a notebook daily. I write down EVERYTHING that I eat. It keeps me on track, well for the most part. This is my first challenge here. Thanks for the inspiration all! emoticon

I am so energized! I had a rough 15 minutes yesterday when I scarfed down a (what I thought was small) slice of carrot cake to find out it was almost 700 calories! That was a slap of reality in the face. I did great after seeing how far I went over my "calorie budget" though. I'm enjoying a shrimp salad for lunch today and I had a 300 calorie breakfast. I've worked out three times today so far. 20 minutes here and there. This site has taught me how wrong I've been eating even though I though I was eating mostly healthy. I'm glad though! I think now I can finally finish losing all this weight!

Well, so far so good. I've been a bit overwhelmed by so much information and spending a lot of time surfing the site for ideas, recipes, tracking, and just basically figuring out how to navigate this awesome site. I have been diligent in tracking since May 1st (so I'm a day off). Hope I can stay on track. So far my difficulty is trying to eat properly and make the right choices. Having kids who bake and dinner guests throw me in a tizzy. Having to feel like I need to cook for me (one menu) and another for the family has been challenging. So far very proud of myself for sticking to the tracking. I guess that is Step 1. Exercise is next and then hopefully variety will be the spice to my life!

Well it's Friday and I can say that I am very proud of myself for the week. I have tracked my food and looking back over it, I haven't done too bad! I even ate new vegetables last night for dinner that I wouldn't have even tried before, and discovered that I liked them, how cool is that? Next week I am challenging myself to add some movement to my week, even if it is just a short evening walk.

In the end it will all be fine, if it isn't fine.... It's not the end!

I am doing everything I need to be doing so far this week except that I wasn't able to go out because of the storm yesterday so I didn't get my walking done.

Today went very well. I walked for 45 minutes as the rain quit for a 2 hour interval.

I am under for calories for the day, but I am so full from my fruits and veges. I made a good vege soup for supper and had a nice salad with lots of veges and fruits for lunch.

Tomorrow is weigh in and I am really hoping for a loss this week as last week I stayed the same.

This will be an easy challenge for me for this week. I have been tracking everything I eat including the not so good stuff into the food tracker. I am even tracking the day before for the next day so I know exactly what I am going to eat for the following day. I am loving the food tracker. During the day if I have something that was not in my original plan I use my phone or work computer to log in the entry.

1. what is your goal for this streak -To log everything I eat and exercise at least 5 out of 7 days.

2. How are you going to accomplish this challenge (planning ahead always works better) - I make out a daily menu before I go to the store. Replace junk food with fresh veggies and fruit. Take time out of each day to do exercise.

I am very happy today, what a change from yesterday. Feeling rather blue and focusing on completing 30 minutes of exercise and having my 8 glasses of water, it was such a struggle, but I am so happy I tracked all my food and completed my exercise because I had my first weigh in today and lost 4 pounds. Thank you to all the support of those who have offered sound sage advice and support. This is probably the best thing I have done in years, was joining this program. Now onto the challenge of week 2, I look forward to it optimistically.

I threw out a little snack I thought was healthy until I realized it is made with some sugars and has a high calories snack item in it. I think it is one of the things I was sabotaging myself with. You can weigh and measure and count out each morsel of a junk food...but it is still a junk food!!! My junk food hit the trash!!! I don't want anything that stands in the way of me becoming Healthy and losing this extra weight.

Other than this, I am doing good at tracking and being consistent. So I am happy with my progress. emoticon

I started the nutrition notes tracker last Friday.

I figured out how to use the tracker today. (But, haven't got all of the caloric nutrition notes on it. ) Just writing down what I was eating and what I was planning to eat was eye opening and already I have made little adjustments.

This is challenge that I want to do every day. This is one of the little things that I want to add to my lifestyle.

And if I am not near a computer to have a little journal and write this same info in there -- Planning a vacation time!

Braggan - that is what it is all about. This challenge is to get you aware of what you are eating and where you need to tweek. There is so nothing wrong with changing things slowly. Infact the more slowly you change the longer lasting your results!

Everyone is doing great! love the feedback about what you are learning! THAT is what it is all about!

So far so good - tracked everything I ate yesterday & today. I am also surprised at quickly those calories add up. I also realized how "un-balanced" I've been eating. Today is the first day since starting last Thursday that I actually have enough fiber for the day! The food tracker is wonderful - what an awesome tool.

My goal is to MAKE time for myself to get my workouts in and to track my foods.

To accomplish this I am going to get up early before anyone else to get started. That way I have no excuses. I also need to get my water in everyday and eat better.

My goal is to track one food everyday. Right now I'm not tracking or measuring portions very well, so I'm setting a smaller more attainable goal! Also I will track my water. Today I got four of the 8 glasses of water, and my dinner was tracked! Good luck everyone!

I completed my first day on challenge. However, when I ask for feedback, I am still lacking magnesium. I hope anyone on this challenge can help me, is it ok to take supplements? Any assistance would be helpful. For the past few days I am always way below my goal for meeting key nutrients involved in the program. Magnesium is the biggest problem. Thank you

Ok, this IS a toughie, but I will join this wonderful group in making this a reality for myself and in inspiring others who might feel overwhelmed by a seemingly simple task (which it is not). I find myself incredibly guilty of "honey abuse" (not of abusing my partner but of actual honey/natural sweeteners! emoticon ). I use a heaping TABLEspoon or more per cup of tea and wonder why the pounds won't budge emoticon . So, *thank you* for posting this. I'm in 110%. I need to make this happen.

This has been a very hard task for me, and I have been trying to attempt it for two weeks now. The first thing that I realized was I was drinking my calories in sweet tea. Not to mention eating the calories to boot! And let me tell yall this lil southern girl LOVES LOVES LOVES her sweet tea! With that being said I cut out drinking sweet tea, the only thing I drink now is water, no cokes no diet just water! And I lost 4.5 pounds my first week. I go back to weight in this week so we will see what happens this week.

I do have trouble navigating the meal tracker on here and I really havent found one i am totally fond of yet online :(. I bought a food journal and have stared keeping track of everything that goes into my mouth in it. I like the set up and it is for a week at a time. then it has a month overview.

so my goals for the week are.
1. not get aggravated figuring up what i eat and measuring everything out!

2. I am going to find moments in my day where i am not stressed out by work, kids, and the yada yadas of life. I have kinda gotten to a point of when i buy snack foods going ahead and putting the serving amount in each back and writing the calories on it.

3. to find the time to log back in here daily to chart my progress, aggravations and struggles.

I'm in! I actually started tracking last week. However, I ran into problems the weekend when trying to track homemade food with multiple ingredients. My goal is to get at least one of my favorite recipes counted out...I'm just afraid that afterwards, it may not be one of my favorites. :-)

I know that my eating is a direct reflection of my emotions. I am working hard to keep both of those things in check. My goal for this challenge is to track my food, HONESTLY, to be aware of what I am eating.
I will keep a list of what I eat and update on Spark each afternoon.

Wish me luck

In the end it will all be fine, if it isn't fine.... It's not the end!

I heard this weight loss success story and the woman said that she doesn't take a bite until she writes. I think it is difficult to write things down, but I am trying to do that. I just began this program so I hope I benefit from this process.

I'm SO in!! I just joined, and tracked a little last week, but then the weekend hit...I lost control with food and with tracking. :( So, this is my challenge. I will do this by putting down EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth. I have a smart phone, with SP already downloaded. That way, I can track even when I'm out.

Thanks so much!
~Leah

Count me in on this Challenge. I have started tracking the food I eat, but not with alot of consistance.

My goal for this week is to track everything I eat. But my focus is on consuming my water each day. I am a big diet soda drinker.

So here is to day 1

One day at a time!

Hi Flynn! Great goals!!
Just keep in mind not to try to do to much at one time! if you aren't used exercising 40 minutes 5 days a week you may get burned out. Don't worry if that happens, just reevaluate your goals and tweek them a bit!!
GREAT idea about weaning the soda, I had to do that as well. I was drinking 62oz of soda a day when I first started. Now I have maybe 1 a MONTH!

You can do this!

I'm in like Flynn.

My goal this week is to lose 2 lbs. I will do this by:
Measuring my food
Exercising a minimum of 40 minutes at least 5 days this week
Tracking my food every day this week accurately
Limit my diet soda intake to 12 ounces per week (I'm weaning myself off)

,I am in, as soon as I figure what I am doing. emoticon , I guess the first thing I need to do is start eating, I spend more time skipping meals then eating them, especially when I am on the computer, which seems like I stay there all the time since I have retired. this is really going to be hard for me, since my companion is a picky eater, I love fruits and vegetables, but as far as tracking calories, I don't know how to start, would appreciate any suggestions.

thanks
Joyce

I want to do it for every meal all week long. Food tracking is so my weakness, but I need to do it. I plan on using SP to track.

I also track my fitness. And will continue that also. And will try when ever possible to add to it.
