It's funny how heat is relative. The first base my husband was stationed at was in Del Rio, TX. 80 was cool. I remember it would be around 120 during the day. We would wait for the sun to go down and then take a walk because it had cooled to 112. Today isn't starting well, but hoping to get better. I have a routine Dr. appointment on base so I am going to the gym as long as I'm out there. It is a cool day so far, just above 60. It's supposed to be 70 and rainy most of the week. We'll see what happens. Have a good day.

I understand, and I am sure after living in such an area for a time, I would be hollering as well.
We are tripple digits agains today. But we have stayed out of it today, pretty much resting today. Church and worship were awesome, as usual. I am working toward a sweet free day, working to be mindful of my choices and what I am doing. Hope you all are doing well.
Hugs, Darlene

80s are hot up here when our lowest temperatures fall below 40 degrees below zero. Our average temperature is twenty. We don't bother with air conditioning for the 2-4 weeks we get over 80 degrees. It makes for a miserable time to try sleeping though. It doesn't cool off much at night because the sun is still up. It is better than the rain we were getting the last few weeks. Maybe I will actually get something out of my garden. It didn't look like it was going to grow much.

80s! I wish. Enjoy. it could be triple digits there too!
I am having a quiet day today. Planning to get a little exercise in today in trying to at least get my 500 fitness minutes this month. I can't believe the struggle I am having getting that in. Thankfully I am at least doing some. Spark keeps me trying as it calls me to accountability.
Have a great day!

We're finally getting summer again. I took my daughter's puppy for a walk today. He has only walked a few times so isn't trained well yet. He loves to chase moving cars. I'm am slowly teaching him to heel. I will have to get up early to walk tomorrow. It's supposed to get in the 80s.

DH had to call repairmen to come in and work on the air-heat unit today. Thankful to God that they were able to come quickly. The condensate trap in the unit is worn out and was leaking out on the carpet in the hall. I am so thankful that is all it was. When I realized last night that there was an issue, I first thought it was a broken sewer pipe under out concrete foundation. So thankful it was not that.
Johnny saw the spot first and, thinking it was a pee spot, Missy got spanked. Poor pup. He said this morning, "How do you apologize to a dog?!!" Thankfully they have forgiving, forgetting hearts.
I continue to work to improve mindfulness in my eating. Hope you all are doing well.

We have our lulls and we have our surges. Enjoy the surge and rest in the lull.
I have had a good couple of days; still not the best diet, but doing better. I am trying to choose veggies and fruits for each meal first, and then build the rest around them. It is helping me get going again. I am still not getting a lot of exercise in, mainly because of the blog series of Dispelling the Darkness that I have been writing. Tomorrow the last blog of the series, Part 10, goes up. then it is on to the next assignment, and I don't think it will be as extensive. I anticipate it being more devotional length blogs than these were, but we will see.
I got some homemaking duties done. I hope to get the kitchen sinks shining before bed, but will see. Resting, taking a break and checking in here for now. Hope you all have a blessed evening. Hugs.

That is great getting your house paid off. We're a long way from that, we bought ours almost 6 years ago. Enjoy those grandsons. Sounds like you are going to have a fun end of summer.
I'm doing pretty good here. We're having summer weather again. It is in the seventies today. DD and I went shopping this morning. The only unhealthy food we got was some mini blueberry bagels, and a doughnut each. I've started struggling with exercising. I didn't end last week well, and I'm not beginning this week well. Hopefully it will pick up.

Hello, ladies. Hope you are having a glorious day in Christ, walking with the mind of Christ directing. You know you can because He is able to make His servant stand, and He sustains the righteous (Romans 14:4; Psalm 37:17). Trust Him for it.
My diet is off. I am doing good most days to forego sweets, but I am finding myself eating too much bread. So I am working to correct that and focus on more veggies.
I also am finding myself playing too much Mahjong throughout the day, watching hundreds of minutes go by trying to beat the clock in that game. It is addictive, so today I deleted Mahjong from my Nook because it robs me of time to enjoy and serve my God.
Another and praise the Lord! We paid our house off this week. Yea!!!
I have much to do today and am making my list to keep my focus. Two of our grandkids are in the area with their dad. I am getting them for a couple of days next week, so I need to get ready for them. I was just looking at the calendar, and really, if he would let me have them all of next week, they could go to our VBS. It will be a God thing if he will allow it and for me to be able to handle it, getting up that early every day.
Two more will come next month. And I have two others I need to figure out how to get for a week or two. So it will be a busy end of summer here.
I am feeling better mentally and spiritually than I have in a very long time as this journey to being mindful in Christ continues leading to better choices in life. God has increased peace and His rest to me, and I am at peace with life. For this I am grateful. I am still somewhat struggling with social anxiety, but I know God will deliver in due season.
I love you girls. It is good to come in and check on you all. Today as I sit here with you, I sense the joy of the Lord over you. Don't let life or the stressors of the day rob you of the knowledge that your God loves you and He sings over you with rejoicing.
Hope you all are doing well.
Hugs to you, Darlene

Oops, I forgot to change this Sunday. We will finish the month on this thread. Hope you all are doing well.
Week Four and beyond: Take what you've learned and apply it to other areas of your life.
Try Mindful grocery shopping. Strengthen your spiritual mindfulness skills you've already started over the last three weeks—just like pretty much everything else in life, mindfulness and alertness to the Spirit’s nudge and to truth has to be practiced. For example, I am currently doing the "Tame Your Sweet Tooth" challenge and am at the point of cleaning out the pantry and replacing sugar laden foods with healthy choices. When I go to the store, I will need the help of the Spirit to break lifelong habits and make better food choices. I will need the Spirit's discipline to help me with the challenge of reading labels and knowing what is in the food I buy.
Mindfulness a simple and useful tool, but it must be sharpened in order to stay effective. Too easily we fall back to the flesh if we are not constantly and deliberately aware of the Spirit-call and our state of mind and heart.
