Switching it up, since I've started running, that's all I want to do! I'm obsessed, when I started could've even run a minute without losing my breath and giving up, now I'm up to a half hour, nonstop!!! And I'm not gonna stop!

My biggest hurdle is keeping up with exercising. I just haven't been able to wrap my head around actually feeling like it is something I need to do. The first time I lost weight was when I was 17, and all I did was change my diet then. I went from 190 lbs to 160 lbs. Now that I am almost 100 lbs heavier, I realize that exercise is a must. I just need to keep telling myself over and over until it sticks.

My biggest hurdles are eating healthy and getting the energy to exercise. I keep telling myself that I just have to start small and it will become routine, but it is that initial push. As long as I am aware of my faults and what I am striving for, I think I can be successful.

Everything is hard for me! I never successfully achieve all my three goals the same day: 1200Cals diet, 20mins exercise and 8 glasses water. But I still try each day . . .

I think my biggest hurdle is giving up the self-comforting aspect of food. It's a habit that I've had, sometimes in extremes, since I was a kid. A part of me is terrified to experience the world without self soothing with food.

Sleep.

I have a very erratic sleep schedule and it can really make getting the motivation up in the morning to get out and do what I need to do very difficult.

I Agree with KSIMMONS19 post...
Alcohol is a huge factor, but for me it has developed into a big problem unfortunately. I have 3 addictions that I am trying to fight and they all seem to go hand in hand...

1. Smoking
2. Drinking
3. Excessive eating

I tell myself one step at a time, but for the 'right now' I am dealing with my addiction to alcohol so that everything else will fall into place. I need to just quit drinking TOTALLY, at least until I am down to my healthy weight...so then I will have more confidence and control, being able to just have a couple drinks and be fine with that.

I wish you luck in your journey! WE CAN DO THIS!! emoticon

Alcohol!!!! When the weekend hits, I always tell myself i'll only have like 3 beers and eat before I go, and I end up wasted at 2 AM with all of my friends hitting up a drive through not to mention the hangover the next day makes me crave greasy foods and dr. pepper!! It's terrible. I really think if i could stop going out and drinking then I could stick to my goals..but then when I'm stuck at home alone I always start to think about ordering pizza while stressed out studying or watching movies..

My biggest hurdle is getting up in the morning to work out!

My largest hurdle by far is getting away to go to the gym.

I've been unemployed for just a few days under a year now, and literally do spend all of my time career opportunity hunting. It's frustrating, depressing, and by the time I pull myself away at the end of the day it's 7:30, I cook dinner, clean up, and the fitness center is already closed. Early Morning doesn't work for me because the Fitness Center doesn't open til 9a.m. it's just one of those things where I feel like if I go that's when a potential employer could call, and then it looks bad if your not there to answer the phone, or if you answer it, and your not home.

Eventually I'll figure it out but, that's my biggest struggle right now.

I get the munchies a lot. Usually late at night. A lot of the time when I wake up in the middle of the night I'm hungry and I can't get back to sleep unless I eat something.
I also get really tired when I eat, which I know is a terrible.
My husband is a huge hurdle too. Sometimes, I think he wants me to fail! Like yesterday he tried to get me to go to a Chinese Buffet for dinner. emoticon

My biggest hurdle is not failing well... when I mess up I tend to get really hard on myself and give up instead of realizing that im not perfect and will mess up.

But blogging daily on sparkpeople is helpful because of the support and remembering I have good days too!

i think my #1 biggest hurdle is my husband. he's a very picky eater and not the slightest bit interested in fitness or weight loss. he makes it difficult to eat healthy at home and would always rather sit around and watch tv/read/play video games over going out and doing something. which brings me to my second biggest hurdle, exercise. i have trouble motivating myself to actually go do it, especially by myself, and it's even worse when i have someone (my husband) trying to get me to just sit around instead.

lol. I eat way more cheese than a person should. I'm a mouse.

I too love food. it has come to the point where i look at food and gain weight though. whats hard for me is i eat healthy 90% of the time and my husband chows down on McDonald's and i sit there and eat my salad. So my biggest hurdle is trying not to give into temptation.

Don't stop believing all thing are possible if you put your mind to it...

I stringly believe my biggest hurdle is finding time to get in a good exercise... I am lucky to have this amazing husband who gives me the time I need to get to the gym (almost) everyday... But having children at home is a hurdle too... I have a 3 year old and a 5 month old, both are at very demanding ages... and I LOVE food, I LOVE to eat and my husband is the same... But we are going to overcome this hudle together

Trying to eat healthy when everyone around me is not.
With my family or even at work when we order out it can be so hard to eat healthy. I need to work on planning ahead more so that I dont always run into this problem. I always feel like I know I'm not eating healthy but its not by choice its the situation.
Today at work we all ordered pizza not the healthiest lunch with all the grease and cheese and now i feel bad for messing up my day just because I didnt plan ahead and bring my lunch

This is the first time I have EVER been able to start a diet and stick with it. The only way I'm doing so is by setting small goals.

My biggest hurdle, as silly as it may sound, is carbs. I'm a vegetarian with PCOS and I'm in a huge Italian family. There is the problem! I don't eat meat, I'm supposed to avoid fruits, veggies go bad if I buy them, and there is pasta and breads all over the place!

I want them sooo bad, but I've come so far that I remind myself how much they aren't worth it.

So far its worked. I haven't caved one single time.

It really does help though that my husband has the upmost confidence in me. :) Which I know is something not everyone has. :(

I biggest hurdle is that I LOVE food first of all, second I have a husband that is the size of a bean poll and can eat anything.. and DOES eat anything. He will not eat "rabbit food" and so our cupboards are always stocked with junk food and our fridge with pop. I have been getting better at staying away from all of that, but like I said before I just love food.

I think we all have couple of hurdles. I know some of mine are buying not so good food. I am the main shopper in the house and when I go food shopping if I am hungry that is when i tend not to make good choices. So from now on I only go to the store after breakfast or lunch. I also have hubby that loses weight so much faster than I do . I get annoyed with myself that I can't lose weight very fast at all. So those are a few to name a few. I am trying to keep telling myself that I can do it I just have to remember pounds aren't the big thing the big thing is inches. I noticed I fell better when I lose inches . MY clothes fit better and I fell better about myself so I think that if I lose more inches I will be happy.

My biggest hurdle is finding time to exercise. Especially Tuesday and Friday-Sunday! I am a full time student and a full time mom. Mon Wed and Thurs I work out hard because I'm in school very late and might as well get the time in. But when i don't come to school i find it very hard to do anything. I keep wanting to do Turbo Jam but i always put it off to later and at the end of the day i'm tired and don't feel like doing it anymore. Not only that but i feel im doing bad in school because trying to lose weight is taking over my life... :-( but my health is the most important thing right now. I'm just hoping i'll still do ok in my classes!!!

Here I go one last time! Lets aim for ten at a time now!

Biggest hurdle? Definitely finding time. I work 40-50 hours a week and go to college full time. Not to mention when I get home there is laundry, cooking, cleaning and still find time to show my boyfriend, our 8 year old daughter and 2 puppies I love them all!

I have two biggest hurdles. The first is the time to exercise. My 9 month old baby is really needy, only naps for 15-20 minutes, once per day and I cant even shower til DH is home at night. Makes it really hard to get in the time I want to on the treadmill. I get on when the little guy has his nap, but sometimes the screaming and upset teething days make me so depressed that by the time he is napping im so stressed and depressed that I dont want to get on it.

Second thing for me is emotional eating. When im stressed or depressed I think why bother and dont care.

Im trying hard ot ignore the second one and to force myself to get on the treadmill when I dont want to for the first one.

My biggest hurdle is staying on track when I don't get the results I want. If I don't lose enough fast enough in a particular time,I get frustrated and just want to stuff my face with my favs (fries and chocolate). I'm working on this though.

My hurdle is basically the same as yours. My hubby keeps buying junk and I keep telling him not to, I finally made him make a committment to me to not buy any. Also when my period comes on I get major major junk cravings. I try very hard to keep the junk to a minimum during that time.

I totally understand the fast food. Jack in the box chicken strips and jalapeno poppers are a downfall. My main problem is being faced with two options and chosing the not so healthy option. prime example tonight: , watch two and a half men or take that 30 minutes to walk or burn calories cleaning - eat the chicken strips and poppers or finish the salad i had at home

my biggest hurdle has been/ is fast food and eating out. I've become addicted to the nutrition facts labels, and those don't come on menus.

Basically I haven't had fast food in 6 months.

Its still really scary when I eat out. emoticon

My biggest hurdle is managing the portions I give my self, since I'm usually too busy to remember too pack a snack or a meal then I come home and I'm famished and I eat too much. emoticon So I'm hoping to organize my life so that I can prepare my meals a head of time.

My biggest hurdle is drinking Dr. Pepper. I love my caffine. I usually get a Rt 44 Dr. Pepper from Sonic in the morning on the way to work and then another one around 2 or so. So far this week, I haven't one once of caffine. (My head is killing me,too!!) Also, eating out with friends. My husband is out of town right now so it's a little easier be/c I don't have him hounding me to get pizza or something like that.

Going out to eat has to be the worst, you never know what hidden ingredients there are in food. Also, parties they seem to require extra will power. emoticon

Finding time to exercise and not making excuses for eating junk food! I will eat just a little bit of something and be like "oh well it wasn't a full serving so it doesn't count". But this really adds up if I do it a few times a day.

I'm going to sort of add to the question by asking what are you doing to try and overcome this hurdle. It would also be good if others gave support and motivation on how they have overcome hurdles in the past.

For example right now I have decided to try and put myself and my needs first because when I do for myself I am better equipped to help others.

What is that one thing that makes it hard for you to lose weight?

For me it's finding time to do all the things I need to do.
