I've been trying to follow Dr. Furhman's "Eat to Live" his book opened my eyes to what is in our foods and how with eating a a plant based diet, we can control most illness'es..I even got a juicer and wow!!! When I'm not working a 15 hr day, I have a juice concotion and it's great!
I'm not a full vegetarian, I do have alittle meat for dinner, but, not much (sometimes, I just need to chew on something!!)..But, I am losing weight and feel great!

I basically stay away from processed food for the most part. My down fall are sweets! Ugh! But I love roasting veggies and fruits. I just need to eat at regular times now and eat the correct foods.

emoticon that they are recommending plant based diet (and its about time)

Brenda, all about eating fruits and veggies and not eating processed/junk food. So just try to eat more fruits and veggies each day.

I started out trying one new veggie and recipes each week. Now I have new favorites.

Just keep trying to eat a little better each meal.

Brenda - I'm so sorry for your loss. Try making small changes in the beginning like eating one meal a day that has no meat or dairy. If you like chili, make a vegetarian version - but skip the cheese and sour cream. Beans are very filling and nutritious. Make a big salad that has lots of veggies in it; use romaine lettuce instead of iceberg. Perfection is not the goal; eating better is. The better you eat, the healthier you will be - in mind, body, and spirit. We're here to help, so ask all the questions you want. We're all in this together!

It is very interesting to say the most.

Doctors for years have been telling patients how to eat without much success.

Most of us are left to flounder on our own to try and figure out what will work to get the weight off; and some of those methods leave us sicker than before.

Old habits die hard. I've never gone without some type of "meat or dairy".
Hope this "old dog" can learn new habits.

I had success with the South Beach Diet before. Long story short, couldn't do the SBD with hubby's 6 years of illness & passing.

I will try to do my best. But a little at a time. I know that it's not going to be overnight but bit by bit, if I could even change a little that would be great.

In its Spring 2013 journal, Kaiser Permanente - the largest managed care and hospital company in the US - published an article supporting a plant-based diet. One of the take-away quotes: "Physicians should consider recommending a plant-based diet to all their patients ..."
