Challenge for your Heart

February is National Heart Month and so we encourage our team members to join the GO Red Campaign for women and support this campaign for heart health in women.

This is how Nancy proposes for us to do the challenge for the remainder of February:

I’m proposing these challenges because I have a vested interest. My forty-two year old niece had a massive stroke two years ago. She is fine now but lives some moderate effects.
I want to walk (this year) in local heart and stroke marathon this May so conditioning is important.
February challenges for the next two weeks.

1. EXERCISE
a) aerobically 30 minutes per day.
b) strength train 15 minutes a day/5x a week. Try one new strengthening exercise in the next two weeks.
c) Take extra steps per day whenever you can.
If you do the basics, you earn as many as three shamrocks.

2. FOOD
a) Reduce your salt intake and/or fat. compared to your worst day in the past month
b) Drink 6 glasses of water a day.
Earn 2 more shamrocks

BONUS POINTS
3. Make a heart healthy recipe two times a week. (You will find recipes on the above website or on Spark People). Earn 2 shamrocks if you post 1 recipe and where to find it.

4. Read one article about the heart. Post the name of the article and where you found it. Earn 1 shamrock

5. Have a heart. Daily, leave a comment on another team member’s web site, give them a goodies or comment on a blog. You will earn another shamrock.

So to give us an easy number if you do the minimun of the above for the challenge you can earn 5 shamrocks a day -- (and you CAN do more) So for the remaining 13 days that’s a minimum of 65 shamrocks for the challenge (I posted it wrong in my email!!) So this is very much like our LOVE yourself challenge --- so let’s continue to show how important WE are and try for the most shamrocks for the next 2 weeks! Good luck!!
