I thank you my body for being healthy and strong in spite of years of abuse.

I am thankful to my heart for moving blood and oxygen and nutrients to all of my cells. Heart be strong, beat regular and rhythmic, be clean and healthy. Thank you heart.

I am thankful to my bones for holding me up and keeping me upright and supporting my body. Bones be strong and store lots of calcium and be heavy and thick. Thank you bones.

I am thankful to my muscles for allowing me to move and lift things and do things. Muscles be strong and respond quickly to exercise. I love you muscles. Thank you muscles.

I am thankful to my brain for allowing me to experience the world. Thank you for letting me know and remember and think. Thank you for processing feelings and emotions. Brain be smart and quick and healthy. Thank you brain.

I am thankful to my blood for carrying oxygen and nutrients, and for ridding me of wastes. Blood be clean and rich in iron and nutrients. Be free of cholesterol and low in fats. Thank you blood.

Thank you my wonderful body for allowing me life. It is my sincere desire for you to remain free from disease and disharmony. I need you and I love you!

I'm glad you liked it. I like it too. What I do is set a timer for 5 minutes or make note of the time that I can stop (5 minutes later). Then I open a word document and just type continuously for the 5 minutes. Or sometimes I notice the time then continuously think-talk to myself while I'm on the treadmill...If you do it everyday, it sort of evolves as you go. I think this self love meditation has made more difference for my self esteem than any other single thing.

Reina, I liked your Self-Love Meditation that you posted on your blog. It reminded of somehow of native American Indian chant?

I had recalled on one of your posts under Self-Love meditation about systems, and that got me to thinking ....systems....hmmm, ....systems..... okay, I like that idea of body systems. ...so I'm going to start off with "circulatory system" and put my meditation and focus on that for Monday. (at first, I thought I'd focus for a week, then I thought I'd focus for 4 days, then I said no, I'd better make that for Monday!) so, circulatory system means to me blood flowing through my veins, all the veins, capillaries, arteries, red blood cells, white blood cells, nutritents, and that got me to thinking about really meditating on healthy blood flow while exercising, eating nutritent rich blood enhancing foods and drinks tomorrow, and visualizing healthy arteries, no plaque or cholesterol.

I did something new today. While I was on the treadmill doing my walk, I went through a little mental "pep talk" of sorts, I started with my skeletal system and thought, Strong bones, good posture, thank you for your support bones. Get stronger and denser. Be healthy. Next, circulatory system: Strong heart, get stronger with this walking. Vessels, stay clean and flexible. Blood, high in iron and low in fat and triglycerides. Stay healthy and strong. Next, nervous system....

It was really cool. I felt great and it made my treadmill time go really fast. I think I'm going to do this again tomorrow when I walk.

Still thankful today about my body and it's awesome ability to heal, to fight germs and virus, and to eat cancer cells and other baddies. I am truly grateful for my immune system. I did a short meditation about it.

I don't know how many folks know the difference between a "pep talk" and a "self love meditation" so I thought it would be useful if I clarified it:

Pep Talk:
Using positive self talk, and keeping it up for 5 minutes. I open a word document and continually type positive "bullets" until the 5 minutes is up, then close it without saving. (ie. I am a worthwhile person, I am beautiful, I am a great asset to my business, I deserve true love, l have the most beautiful enchanting blue eyes, etc). Just whatever comes to mind, especially the things you lack confidence about, and keep up a steady stream of positive complements for 5 minutes. This is to help compensate for all of the deflating internal dialogue we all have.

Self Love Meditation:
This is more of an internal dialog with your actual body. You specifically thank your body for all the things it does for you, talking to it as if it were a separate "person". This doesn't have to be 5 minutes or any minutes, and sometimes I do it when I am giving myself my "Daily Gift", to focus on one part in particular. Sometimes I just close my eyes for a couple of minutes and thank my lungs for breathing in and out and for still working so wonderfully when I smoked for so many years. (I don't smoke now). Sometimes I thank my belly for housing all of my organs and cushioning and protecting them. It really helps you to start to appreciate and love yourself and your body just as it is right now, not 25 lbs from now, and it only takes a few seconds.

My pep-talk today was catching myself repeating "My Story" over and over again - and when I did catch myself - changed that self-talk to the opposite. It is interesting,...when I watched Monday night's Oprah Master Class, the message I took away is that we can become addicted to "Our Story" and the way out of that addiction is to change the "Story" with self-love and awareness.

Today I did this. I thanked my body for being so forgiving and for continuing to "be there for me" in spite of years of neglect and abuse. I thanked my immune system for struggling to protect and scrambling to save me from the flu, even though for years and years I was such a germ-o-phobe that I never gave it anything to practice on, I promised my body that from now on I am going to do my best to fuel it well with fruits, veggies, antioxidants, healthful fats, and lean proteins and I am going to keep exercising even if it doesn't lead to weight loss.

Once each day, just take a moment to thank your body for being there for you. As you rub lotion into your skin, thank your legs for taking you everywhere even when you have neglected them. As you use a loofah or pumice stone, thank your feet for holding you up even when you have allowed yourself to be too heavy. Thank your body for "being there" for you. It sounds a little funny but you will be AMAZED at the transformation in how you begin to feel about yourself.
