This time next week I will weigh in 1 pound less than I do today emoticon

I took some time away from SP this summer and focused on tracking my calories and carbs and read articles about nutrition and eating to lose weight.

I never realized just how many calories I was eating a day until I started honestly tracking . I knew it was alot but seeing it in real numbers opens your eyes emoticon

I'm up for the challenge! I lost a pound and a half last week so I'm already on my way. Sadly, I lost 21 pounds last year and gained it all back again, so the biggest challenge will be keeping off what I lose. I believe I can do it with Sparkpeople! There's so much support here!

I'm ready for the challenge....found out I have diabetes 2 weeks ago and I'm determined to take control of this. Thank heaven for SP....tracking everything I put in my mouth and also using their diabetic program to track my carbs and other nutrients is priceless! I have a family history of heart disease, and my risk factors for that are now compounded by the diabetes. Needless to say, I'm very determined. Thanks to you all for your posts...you are a great inspiration to me!

I am very careful to log EVERYTHING. In fact, I will err on the side of logging too many cals for the food is there is any doubt what so ever as to portion size.

I have also determined that if I took in the cal count that is calculated for my weight, I will put on weight. I guess my metabolism is lower than normal. I know that the "normal" multiplier for weight vs. daily intake is 10, but I have determined that mine must be closer to 7.5.

Pay attention to what you consume.

Make a new rule that you will not multitask while you eat. That means no chips while on the computer and no ice cream while watching your favorite TV drama. If you're going to eat, you're going to be present and focus on the food you're enjoying to help avoid mindless overeating
