My update:

Started this way of eating on October 3 at 170 lbs.

(Keep in mind that Dr. Anderson says if one weighs under 180, progress can be slower.)

Today is October 26 (just 23 days of dieting)---and I weigh 164.6!

= = = 5.4 lbs gone! = = =

I did have a lull of 10 days where I stayed the same (10/14 - 10/23).

Oh, good! I was worried that I had put my foot in my mouth!

I'm very much enjoying reading the book! Only on chapter 4 so far, but it's interesting reading!

No eyerolling or smacking necessary, as your advice was still dead-on. If I don't find ways to eat extra food "on plan" during pms/tom, I end up eating WAYYYYY extra off plan.

Extra low-calorie veggies, broths or even an extra entree or bar make a whole lot more sense than the garbage I'm craving.

To some degree, the hunger is there no matter what I do, but it's much worse if I try to white knuckle it. Grazing all day on low calorie foods like raw veggies at least distracts me from the cravings. I can feel like I'm giving in to the need to eat, without giving in to the cravings for foods I shouldn't be eating. Better to feed rabid hunger with cabbage and broccoli (eaten slooooooooowly) than with burgers, fries and chocolate (scarfed down wolfishly).

Oh goodness! I just re-read your post Colleen, and boy, did I TOTALLY miss the mark! You said that you can feel full, but still feel the need to eat.

So, please just smack me (not literally! LOL) and shake your head while rolling your eyes at my last post!

Sorry!

Hey Colleen! I'm so glad to see you posting on additional threads! It's really helping to "revive" (or reanimate! LOL) this team!

I think I recall that you said you have TSD book. I just read something interesting...

On pgs 30-31 it said that "Angie" started on TSD and did the 3 shakes, 2 entrees and 5 fruits/veggies.

It said that once she started walking daily, plus did 3 days per week of strength training, she upped her nutritional intake to 3 shakes, two or three entrees, one bar, and six to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables daily---and lost 15 pounds in four weeks.

I'm not trying to sabotage you, and I don't know what your fitness limitations might be, but keep this in mind if it DOES fit your situation.

I'm walking daily for 30 minutes using a Leslie Sansone dvd. And my strength training 3X per week isn't all that strenuous right now. But I'm happy to be doing it since I've been active for WAY too long!!!

NOTE: I have periodic ankle issues which put me out of commission at times. (Then it takes me a stupid long time to get back into doing regular fitness even after my ankle is better...)

Down .5 from yesterday. During pms week, no less. My normal pattern for this week would be to gain every day, no matter how little I eat. Then after 7-10 days, whoosh over 1-3 days the water weight disappears (along with whatever I've "really" lost if I have stayed on plan).

Staying on plan though is the hard part, because I'm so hungry this time of month that I call the hormonal hunger "rabid hunger." My stomach can feel full-to-bursting and yet I'll feel an almost panicky NEED to eat. It's as if my hormones and neurotransmitters are trying to convince me that I am in iminent danger of starving to death.

I lost 2.8 this week and I am glad to be back EXACTLY where I was a month ago again ! Now if only I can continue on to lose. I have been stuck here for awhile. I hope to move on to new territory soon ! I have playing with these same pounds for a long time now!

Christine, I feel your frustration, I've been there too!
I did loose 3.4 pounds this week so with my up and down this month and a dose of the flu I managed to start Feb 3.4 pounds lighter then I started Jan. slightly behind my goal of 1 pound a week but I'll take it!

well I gained back 2 1/2 pounds last night. I am a little discouraged because for the last month I have lost and regained the same 2 or 3 pounds about three times !! ERRRRRR
I am going to be really strict this week and go back to my basics that I started with last year and see if I can have a 2 or 3 week loss in a row !! Is this a form of plateau or is this me getting lax and not doing what I think I am doing ???? I think I am being good ... I tracked my food and exercised 6 days last week....... hmmmmmmmmmm

Well I'm up 6 pounds this week....which is frustrating scale wise HOWEVER I weigh myself everyday with my "official" ticker change on Sat and stayed pretty much the same all week with the 6 pounds coming litterally over night so, as I know for a fact I didn't eat 22400 extra calories yesterday I will wonder what the heck is going on but not freak out.

After 2 weeks of the scale barely budging, I have a 2 pound loss this week for a grand total of 98 pounds lost! I'm so close to reaching my goal and am hoping that the next couple of weeks of holiday parties don't hinder my efforts. Gotta keep my eye on the prize! Hee, hee!
