I use Splenda in my coffee when I have it (usually 1 cup each work day) in fact I use 3 packets of splenda and one mini moo. I think the big thing is to use in moderation. If you drink lots of coffee and mix your coffee like I do then the extra calories will add up over time. But if like me it is just a cup here and there then go with it.

It is had for others to understand what this plan is and may tell you that it is unhealthy. I inform them that the plan was written by a Dr & Dietitian and they know what they are doing. I also had to throw out all the old rules and I am so glad that I did. I also know way too much about losing weight as I have been on one plan or another since I was 12 and I am now 40.

Yes, that is really good advice and I appreciate it. Believe me, I have a lot of had a lot of input about weight loss over the years.
Right now I'm in the "preparing to start the diet" mode and I think I will make a mental note to make part of that preparation getting rid of other diet distractions.........NOT reading articles in magazines and internet, watching infomercials on TV, watching the Dr. shows on TV
(The Doctors and Dr. Oz), listening to other input about diets and what works and what doesn't. Just focus on the book and what Dr. A says. And, well, as the good doctor implies.........Keep it Simple! Why clutter my brain with all those other notions!

My advice is to do what someone told me, in this forum, THROW OUT EVERYTHING YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW ABOUT A DIET and start fresh.

If Dr. A said you can use Splenda, girl go head :)

If you are concerned about it, either use a little amount or none at all. I had to get out my head that eating late was bad. This plan is so good that I eat when I want and the foods I'm suppose to, no matter how late and I still lose weight! Seriously, I still lose weight (lol)

I hope this helps ;)

I can simplify my life and lighten my burdens by deciding realistically what I want to do and what I have time to do. (~_^)

Just got The Simple Diet book in the mail and have begun to read. I notice that there seems to be no limit to the use of Splenda or other artificial sweeteners.
I have read things elsewhere that seem to indicate that Splenda, etc. just stimulates a sweet tooth and even does other things with body chemistry....that it is best to avoid it.
Any thoughts from anyone on this?
