Hi all! I know it's really REALLY late to join this challenge, but I thought better late than never! =P

My weight has not changed much in the last 6 months, so this is quite close to what the actual figures were.

Starting BMI (December 2012): 27.8 (overweight)

January 2013: 27.6 (overweight)

February 2013: 27.5 (overweight)

I'm tempted to go to Wal-Mart, grab a scale off of the shelf and put it down on the ground, just for a totally random weigh in. I haven't been on a scale since my physical last fall.

My official weigh should be today but since I last posted our scale broke and we have yet to replace it. I'm hoping we will today so that I can weigh in tomorrow.

Great idea! I'm trying to get out of the overweight category and into 'normal' range. I am hoping to go down 1 point per month (equals about 5 pounds at my height). This would put me at goal in 5 months...

Darn it! What do we do if we don't have a category to healthily move down to? Can I make my own BMI goal? :P Right now, I'm at a BMI of 22, but I'm looking to bring that down to 19-20 (I have small bones)

The main goal is to decrease our BMI- feel free to enter your weight whenever you want.

Monthly was just the guideline I saw since it's not like there'd be any huge shifts over a week or two.

I am actually pretty close to going from Obese to Overweight. I think it's something like 19 lbs more to go. I can do it! I lost over 25 lbs in 2012, after all.

One issue - I do NOT weigh myself every month, I only get my weight at the doc's office. I am a bit anti-scale, so I actually measure with the tape at least once a month. So I don't know if I can do this challenge. I'll just update this when I go to doc's visits, if that's OK.

Yup- I know a year is a long time. But I think it would take awhile to see any significant changes in BMI. Maybe we can re-evaluate in a few months?

I'm not a huge fan of BMI either, since I tend to carry a lot of muscle but I've never been close to a "healthy" BMI range so I'd like to see what my body can do at that point.

I'd absolutely love to do this, although I'm not a huge fan of BMI. But nevertheless, staying accountable will be nice. I doubt that I'll go from obese to overweight (I'd have to lose about 71 pounds), it is possible but I'd have to work super hard. Right now I am just in the morbid obesity range so my main goal is to get down to at least a 35 or lower on the BMI scale.

I guess the only issue I have with this is that it is such a long period of time (so many things can change in a year!). But I will give this a try since I would love seeing my BMI go down to just overweight. Since I've been in the obese section for too long. But I guess in my hopes this challenge will be easy if I keep at it.

I saw this on another team and thought it'd be fun!

The challenge is to move "down" from one BMI category to the next.

Example- If I'm in the Obese category, my goal is to be in the Overweight category. If I'm in the Overweight category, my goal is to be in the Healthy category.

Now, I know that BMI is just one (and not a perfect one, either) indicator of a healthy lifestyle. My personal goal is to be in the Healthy high range or in the Obese low range. I've never weighed that much in my adult life so I don't know if I'd be able to keep that up, but that's the goal for now.

Care to join me?

List your starting BMI for December 2012 and update with your current BMI by the end of each month. Just copy and paste the list and update with a new post.
