When I crave something sweet, I have one of those high proteing Slim Fast brownies for a meal or a half for a snack. They are really good and don't spike the blood sugar! emoticon

I had two thin mint girlscout cookies today. There was a time I would have eaten a sleeve of these. It is wonderful to be satisfied with two! emoticon

I have come to the conclusion that I am unable to eat sugar in moderation. So I'm going cold turkey and no longer eating sugar. I have done it before due to surgery so I know I can and will be ok doing it again.

Watch out world! Here I come

What I am learning is that I must have protein with any bit of sugar to avoid the spike in blood sugar levels and the craving that follows even if it is a low calorie bar. I also use a supplement chromium picolate to steady the blood sugar level...this helps with cravings. Without protein I get a craving, so cereal by itself is not a good idea emoticon

Sounds like a good plan. I'm having less sugar cravings this winter than I did last summer, especially with ice cream. I still occasionally make a poor decision concerning sugar, but not as often as previously. Hope your plan works for you.

Give it a try and see how it works. Baby steps is said so often, even adding just 1 to see how you react would be helpful info on building your plan.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

My plan is to have a sugary food maximum of 3 times a week for a special occasion. It's so much easier to avoid completely but I hope to be able to occasionally have a small amount. If that's difficult, I will revert back to no sugary foods until the craving again decreases.
