You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Huge success last night - I went to a social function where they, of course, had treats, and I ate nothing but fruit from the fruit plate. I didn't even crave the junky cupcakes or anything. I felt really good about that!

I will check it out! Thank you. I have a day or two usually when my daughter stays with us and I eat bad, I love diet soda and potatoe chips, I love catup but I have about kicked that one. I am wanting ice cream anymore either so that is good! People can eat stuff and I do not want it anymore and most commercials do not bother me.
I never cooked anything from scratch till I met my current now I love to cook with him and we do alot from scratch he is incredible at cooking.
I do alot from hungry girl also. I like her tips. I also do stuff from flatbellydiet.com and they have wonderful tips that have helped me!
I have also developed food allergies over the years, so much has happened from 40 on that I have a hard time keeping up LOL.
Thank you so much for the tips.

I totally agree on eating air! I find that can do really well for a few days and then I have a "catchup" day where I eat everything in sight! I guess that means that I am not eating enough, but I can't really tell if it's due to the emotional thing, or if I physically need to eat more.

LORAC67 - you should check out a website called 100daysofrealfood.com. It's a great non-air lifestyle, focusing on whole, real foods. I find that if I cook in her style (I do like to make things from scratch, and HAVE to make a lot now due to newly developed food allergies), I'm not as hungry all the time - it's NOT low-cal, but the food is healthy and filling.

Right now I eat very limited grains. Not quite paleo (I do eat rice, beans, oats, and dairy - I LOVE my dairy), but heavier on the meats, veggies, and fruits. I still seem to have a "catchup" day, but far less often.

It is wonderful how our eating, grocery shopping and cooking (exercising also) rubs off on our kids. I am so trilled my daughter is going up with some of my habits (well some good some bad). I do not have her as much as I would like due to this year with school she is with her dad and stepmom on school days and I get her some holidays and every other weekend. I so miss her and do not want her step mom and dad's bad habits in her. (Her step mom is 7 years older than my daughter LOL). My boyfriend and I are trying and he has accepted some of my ways of eating but not all. He says he will not eat air to live 7 years longer LOL.

Thank you! I am so jealous of people like that who never have to battle the "emotional eating!" My husband is like that too. Grrr. At least I do almost all of the cooking, so that does help control what I eat (and indirectly what the rest of my family eats!), and that's a good thing. I feel pretty good about how healthy my kids eat, they truly get WAY LESS sugar and treats than most kids. :)

Way to go I am not far behind you. I have to get my boyfriend who does alot of the cooking on my side. LOL. My daughter is the next step I have her on board she really thinks before she eats, I love it. It took me years to figure it out and I am still learning.

I think I may have beaten the sugar. Last night I was bored, and was thinking that I wanted to bake something - which is one thing I like to do when I am bored. I stopped and looked at my husband and asked him if he thought that baking something could be considered eating from being bored. That's a huge step - we BOTH recognized that it was, and it stopped me in my tracks.

The last few days the most sugar I have eaten really has come from fruit, or a little yogurt. I have eaten some chocolate, but definitely NOT to excess, and I really thought about it before I ate it. I also bought QUALITY chocolate, and it's a 68% dark.

I think this week I will focus on maintenance of the non-sugary snacks, and start decreasing the diet soda, which is my other nutritional vice... Grrr.
