Week two ended really well didn't give in to eating sweets when I was bored, I found things to do and stay occupied. If I had a sweet desert I kept to 1 normal portion and I was satisfied. Hope it keeps up.

emoticon emoticon Great Job!!

I am beginning Week 2 of the Sweet Tooth Challenge. One trigger that I have is the hidden sugars found in Townhouse Crackers. I can eat 2 or 3 sleeves of those delicious crackers.

I am going to stay away from them. I will eat fruit instead.

Happy Sparkling emoticon

Three triggers that I'm going to avoid are the following:

1. Ice cream. If I don't buy it, I won't eat it. But as soon as it becomes available, then yes. So this week, I won't buy it grocery shopping.

2. Vending machines/deli. I super struggle with this right now. If I want a boost, I go to the vending machine. Instead of trying to replace it with a healthier food, how about not eating it at all. If I crave a trip to the vending machine, then I'll text/call my family.

3. Church activities. If there are sweets, step far away from the sweets table. Out of sight, out of mind. I'll bring a water bottle with me.

My biggest issue is the impulse buy. I'll be in the store and go 'oh a new icecream' or 'mmm a kitkat sounds good right now' I usually don't keep sweets around the house but since i'm usually at the store every other day that's when i get hit with it. So my goal is to reduce candy, ice cream, and pudding snacks.

If you have the knowledge, or the ability to get it, there is no reason not to attain your dreams small or large. Don't wait for someone to take your hand, take someone else's and go for it. Leap over those who stand in your way and unbind yourself from those who would drag you down. But take those with you who want to go and are as eager and willing to work. They may be just as scared as you but together you can make it! Believe in yourself!

I am doing okay today. Don't seem to have any cravings. I have to make sure I eat and snack at regular intervals or I will start to crave the unhealthy things. I've been snacking on almonds and fruit, popcorn and eating 3 meals with fresh fruit as the dessert. I try to use the lower sugar fruit like melon and berries. I'm using small amounts of stevia for sweetening coffee and tea. So far i don't crave sugar after having the sweetener

I had good success last night. I went to church and they had goodies. I explained how I felt when I have sweets and they understood I sure did'nt expect that. It sure was tempting to see all the sweets, but I brought a snack with me and the craving went away even when it was right near me. Today I am experiencing anxiety and jittery. Maybe because I am going off all artificial sweeteners. I didn't know you could feel that way? Did anyone else have that experience? Hope it goes away soon not a good feeling!

Okay today have stayed on my diet pretty good. Trying to watch and read labels. It seems everything has sugar in it. I do the best I can to stay away from added sugar. I try to eat as fresh foods as I can: fruits, vegetables, lean meats, legumes and small amounts of breads and cereals. I'm feeling much better. Went to church and usually have to have a peppermint candy to make it through till lunch, but since on this diet for the past two times i don't need it. It was the sugar in my diet that made me feel those highs and lows. I'm so thankful, that I don't need the sugar to make me feel better, it actually made me feel worse

So, I had my "sugar" day as I said I would. Kopparberg and cake if you're interested ;) but I balanced it out by going all out for 45 minutes with Jillian to give myself calorie space. I thought I'd be craving sugar like a fiend this morning but I'm actually not bothered at all and have no plans to hit the cake today.

Week 2 went really well for me, although I did cave in a couple of cravings though. The first one came when we were celebrating my 3 year-old's birthday I had a piece of cake. The second time was when I did eat 1 Girl Scout cookie. My oldest daughter is in Girl Scouts so we happen to have the cookies lying around. There have been far less cravings this week as well.

So, it's week 2 and I have a fair few emotional triggers coming up this week. I've decided that one day this week I *will* have sugar and I *will* log it and I *will not* tie it to emotions. And that will be HARD!

It is amazing to learn what is in BBQ Sauce.
And the other sauces we have here in the house.
It is ok to eat it if you measure it. But not when you don't.
And try to make sure you don't leave with something that is full of hidden stuff.
I was able to eat my dinner and lunch without the salt.
(Though bbq pork at church had enough seasoning without it).
Keeping to the water and veggies this week. hang in there guys.
We are going to make it! Holly

W2D7 - I've confirmed this week that I am for sure a stress eater, especially sweets. I have not OD-ed to the extent I would have in the past, and I'm compensating and staying in cal range, but this is not good. I have two more days in my current job before starting a new one next week, and that's good, but this week has turned extra stressful. I know part of it is me wanting everything to be just right when I leave. It isn't going to happen, I'm doing the best I can, and that will have to be good enough. Meanwhile, tomorrow is another day, and I can try again not to let sweets and treats be my stress management.

Good job, AHERRING2! We have to learn to handle moderation and you are doing it.
If we ban ALL sweets from our food plan, we can end up feeling deprived only to crave what we can't have and go on a binge. Well done to remain within calorie range.

Am understanding that stress does lead me to eat much sweeter than I should. Fell into a piece of pound cake last night, but it was because I wanted it - did not have to have it but it fit into my calorie range and I actually enjoyed it and stopped after one piece. emoticon

Saw my hubby's stash of chocolates last night, and I almost, almost reached in and grabbed a handful. So instead I turned around and left the room and got a big glass of water. It was so hard not to nosh on the chocolates. I have to ask him to move them somewhere else that I wont see them, as just writing this is triggering a craving.Yikes!! Its hard to go sugar free. I didn't realize how much extra sugar I ate.

Like my garden I need to nurture my body and soul to be my healthiest ever!!

I'm not sure why, but yesterday I went on a sugar binge. I ate chocolates and cookies. By the afternoon I felt ill. Physically and mentally ill. I had to go to bed! Today is another day and it will be sugar low or sugar free. I feel better without that drug in my body!

W2D4 - I've been eating on the low end of my range, and today my body was craving MORE. It could easily have spiraled out of control. I did indulge in some flavored popcorn. For a moderate binge, that's pathetic. For progress, that was pretty good! I didn't finish the can, and though tempted, I didn't say I've blown it now and I may as well eat this and that too. I did not cave in, and I still managed to end up in cal range.

Day 3 of my second week. So far my plan to sub fruit for my usual sweets is paying off. I've up'd my fruit intake and lowered my calories in one move. I'm feeling good about this challenge.

One day at a time.

Hey all,

I had no sweets today except for vanilla peaches which were yummy. It was the first time I had them. Really focusing on having fruits for sweets.

emoticon You rock, team-mates!

Had very strong sweet (chocolate) cravings today. It was pretty tough. But I went for the craisins and unsweetened applesauce. For "the nibbles" I had some lightly salted nuts (not the best choice calorie-wise for nibbling, but the carrots did not look very edible and were thrown out). Going to the store tomorrow to stock up on healthier low-calorie food choices to meet nibbling needs.

It took me until today to get away from sugar. Today I have done very well and am excited to move forward!

I have started adding the SF Coffee mate powder creamer to my coffee in the morning. The Sugar Free makes it impossible to add too much - the liquid I can use the whole container. I know there is artificial sweetner but it gives me what I need plus doesn't seem to trigger other sweets...so far anyway. No cookies in the house. There are the delicious MARY'S GONE CRACKERS - with a little PB 130 + 190 calories and yummy and once again I can stop so far. Not sweet but sometimes just good things trigger me to eat continuously.

have a great weekend.

Did decide this week to have a Snackwell's Cookie serving. I was at the grocery store and just had this huge craving so I chose that instead of a Snickers bar. It did put me over my calorie range unfortunately. I do feel better and am making better choices. Now I need to pay attention to hidden sugar - I know I'm getting my sugar fix through those foods. I feel so much better just making better choices. My body feels better too! emoticon

It's amazing! Even with a tooth ache I can find ways to get sugar into my system! Bummer!

I'm here to get healthier just one day at a time!

W2D3 - sweets inventory today:
3 dark choc coffee beans
LG pineapple water
2 squares dark choc

Are we seeing a pattern here? Not OD-ing on anything though, especially when I could have finished off what was in the container.
